22.01.2022 Helping to ensure that the earth has......Freemasonry Universally spread over it’s surface..... 1804, Today! engineer Bro. Richard Trevithick demonstrated ...the world's first steam railway locomotive at Samuel Homfray's Penydaren Ironworks in South Wales. The engine won a wager for Homfray by hauling a load of 10 tons of iron and 70 men along 10 miles of tramway There is no record on the Web of when or where he was made a Mason, However there is a clear mention made on a Masonic souvenir of his stay in Swansea, Wales: a glass vase inscribed with the Name of Brother Richard Trevithick" in Indefatigable Lodge No. 237 UGLE By the mid-1800's the impact of a growing railway system was being felt by Grand Lodges: "The growth of the railway systems led to greater mobility and easier communication between the Grand Lodge and the Provinces" (History of the United Grand Lodge of England) KENT ."...the advent of industrialization and the need to improve and extend the railway system to accommodate the manpower requirements of London (the then commercial capital of the world) and the consequential increase in the population on Kent resulted in the new dormitory towns in what now forms Metropolitan Kent. This growth ultimately resulted in the need to establish lodges and chapters to serve the increasing number of men who found guidance and pleasure within the fraternity." (History of the Masonic Province of East Kent) Steam engines were also used to pump water out from mines, one was able to pump 19,000 gallons per 12 bags of coal.....hence 19 to the Dozen! Ta-Da!

12.01.2022 Little Orphan Annie Freemason Harold Gray (1894-1968) created Little Orphan Annie in 1924. Little Orphan Annie said about Daddy Warbucks: "With all his mines a...n' oil wells in the orient---Daddy's been out there hunnerts o' times---but he says one time he travelled to the East, but didn't make a dime, meant more to him than all th'other trips he'll ever make---I don't get it---do you?" Well, do you? #Freemasonry #Annie #East
10.01.2022 Further to the previous advisory on the COVID-19 pandemic, given the Australian Federal Government ban on gatherings of more than two persons in public places, and the General Suspension of UGLQ lodges meeting during April and May 2020, a quorum will not be able to form for the next two months and the meetings have been declared abandoned. We are maintaining a contact with our members during this trying time and wish all brethren a safe and hopefully a short lockdown.
09.01.2022 ARE YOU THINKING OF BECOMING A FREEMASON? "Just ask it's as simple as that"
07.01.2022 Today, 12th May,2020 The Fenwick Lodge No.68 celebrates its 130th Anniversary. Originally formed as No. 2378 English Constitution, the lodge was named for Worshipful Brother John Fenwick as a token of respect for his long term and skilful management of the District Grand Lodge affairs as District Grand Secretary of English Freemasonry in Queensland. Members of the lodge maintain his grave to the present day. The picture is the advertising that appeared in The Brisbane Courier... (forerunner to The Courier Mail) 130 years ago today. The lodge is unique in that it is one of only three in the world named Fenwick, the others being Fenwick Lodge No. 1389 UGLE meeting in Sunderland, England and Fenwick Lodge No. 158 GRM meeting in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. As part of the 130th Anniversary the lodge is currently restoring its Great War Memorial honouring those members who served and one who paid the Ultimate Sacrifice. A re-dedication service is being planned for later in the year. The lodge normally meets on the First Monday of the month at the South Brisbane Masonic Centre, Eight Mile Plains. Tonight present and past members will gather online to acknowledge this milestone and look to the future once lodge meetings can resume. See more
05.01.2022 Fenwick Lodge 68 Brethren, following the issue of a shutdown advisory by the MW Grand Master for UGLQ for March/April, the WM has cancelled the practice meeting for March. A decision on the April Regular Meeting will be taken closer to time when more information is to hand. It should be stressed that no brother should feel compelled to attend any meeting or functions during this period of time, and should exercise all caution and follow the public health directives being issued.
03.01.2022 All of us at UGLE would like to wish The Grand Master, HRH The Duke of Kent, a very happy birthday! #Freemasons
