23.01.2022 Melbourne Cup Day: Flemington Race 1: Think the quinella here will be Setsuna and Qafila. 11 and 7 for the trifecta. ... Race 2: Invincibella is the short favourite. Think she will win from a fast finishing Spanner head at 20/1. 1,4,5 next. Race 3: Land of Plenty looks strong. Divine Quality at 10/1 should be on the pace and could make a bold run at it. New Universe 3rd. Outsiders 11 and 2 for trifectas. Race 4: Ubin Thuderstruck 8/1 from Sherlock Holmes 8/1 and Granddukeoftuscany 5/1. Race 5: Property 5/1 will be flying late to pinch the win from Paret. Sam's Image 10/1 and Bandipur 10/1 for the minors. Race 6: Counterplay 6/1 from Our Crown Mistress 3.5/1.12 and 4 for the minors. Race 7: There is absolutely no form guide for placings in the Cup, however the winners generally come from a horse that has placed in the top 4 over 2000m+ in it's last start and that race being in Australia. This form line got us the quinella and trifecta last year but there were many more Aussie runners, so the traditional form guide may be less reliable. On this form the only horses that can win are: Humidor 12/1, Marmelo 9/1, Johannes Vermeer 10/1, Big Duke 21/1, Boom Time 34/1, Libran 51/1, Single Gaze 31/1, Wall of Fire 13/1 and Cismontane 51/1. Watch the earlier races to see how the track plays out. The Caulfield place getters have hardly been spoken about which is bizarre (Boom Time, Single Gaze, Johannes Vermeer). Wall of Fire is following the way Protectionist won the Cup. Marmelo will be flying home late with Vermeer. I'll pick Wall of Fire to win. Trifecta will have a few of the above for 1st with a whole bunch of outsiders for 2nd and 3rd. Trifecta should be paying well. Race 8: Go wide here. Brown Ben 20/1 Tally 20/1, Turnitaround 26/1, Maurus 10/1. Box a few here and cash in. Race 9: I Thought So 5/1 to beat Faatinah, Ocean Embers and Calanda. Race 10: Swampland 10/1 and Miss Gunpowder 10/1 to win. 13 and 9 for the minors. Risking White Moss. Will be a tight race - pretty good line up. 1,2,4,7 all decent. Race 5: Excess Knowledge and Almoonqith at both 10/1. Both third up and looking to find their long distance form. If they are to find form this season than this is the race. Go EW on both. Race 6: Try and get fixed odds on Exocet at 5/1. Good odds considering the strength of her last race win. Place on Whyouask. Drawn in the carpark so tough to win from there but place chance. Race 3: 3,4,8 to nip the favourite Legless Verve in an exacta. Desert Lashes hasn't been beaten at 1200m. 6/1. Cool Passion has run this distance 8 times for 5 wins and 3 places. 10/1. Nice value. ... Race 4: Lots of Caulfield Cup prospects in here. I think some of the these are primed for a win. Really like Foundry 7/1 and 2/1 for a place. Boom Time and Aloft will be looking to hit the line strongly for a Caulfield Cup prelim. Race 5: We called out Mongolian Wolf last week but it was scratched. Gotta have something on it. 10/1. Two from two first up. 3.15 for a place is tempting. Top 4 horses carrying a lot of weight. Think the winner will be carrying 54kgs. Take your pick. Duke of Brunswick is 8/1 with Oliver on board. Race 6: Shoals will give Alizee a challenge. Happy to back Shoals at 4.5/1 in an 8 horse race Leather'n'lace has placed in all 5 last starts. A ridiculous 3/1 for the place. Backing that in. Race 7: Bonneval should rightly start favourite. Abbey Marie to place at 6/1. Needs to win the Caulfield Cup to guarantee a start in the Melbourne Cup - 2nd by a d*ck to Bonneval last start and will appreciate the longer distance. Hard to understand why this 5yo Mare by Redoute's Choice is 26/1. Gailo Chop also looking for strong run. Training to challenge Winx in the Cox for an entry to the Melbourne Cup. Hard ask but will be interesting to watch his run. Race 9: Egg Tart is looking to the Melbourne Cup also and is flying at the moment. 6 wins straight before 2nd last start. 5/1. I Am A Star won a Group 2 over the same distance last start. Great value each way at 14/1 for the win and 4.5/1 for the place. 11 and 8 also at big odds for the minors. Won its last 2 starts; placed all three times over this distance. Race 5: Hard to go against Champagne Cuddles after delivering for us for the last 2 weeks. Go EW 5/1. Go a place on Cellargirl at 2.50 - placed in its latest 5 of 7. ... Race 6: I think Clearly Innocent 8/1 and In Her Time 7/1 can give Chautauqua a run for his money. But be wary of the Everest Runners. Redkirk won impressively recently, as did She Will Reign last night. They all seem to be peaking at the right time. Race 7: I like Foxplay 10/1. Problem is the barrier. However if she can beat Tom Melbourne out of the gates she could settle behind Comin' Though and be one out one behind with a good shot at them in the straight. Try for some value. Race 2: 10 Teodora has run well last three starts. 2 wins and a 4th to Pinot in the Ethereal stakes G3. Paying 8/1 here and with a chance. Like Cummings' 4 Lucky Louie at 31/1 too. Place chance. Hiyaam won us money previously so throw in the trifecta. Rimraam doesn't know how... not to place. So put in your exotics. Race 3: Sheidel should lead and could hold on at 5/1. Throw in anything you fancy in double figures for the trifecta - 2,6,10,11,12. Race 4: Harlem will go close but too short. I like Ecuador for the odds it's paying - 11/1. Will be on the speed. Has won over 2400. Can go close. 3,9 for exotics. Race 5: very open race and no horse under 8/1. Lottery time. Five last start winners and 10 horses that have placed in over 70% of their starts. No surprises if a double figure odds horse gets up here. If the on-Pacers are holding on then Houtzen 15/1 is a good bet. Invincible Star will also be on the pace. 6,7,8,10,16 all chances. Race 6: Global Glamour will probably lead. If the on-Pacers aren't winning we will update tips from race 4 onwards. Race 1: 6 Setsuna 4/1 looks well placed. Will be on speed and hard to hold out. Good chance. Danuki 10/1 and Sirbible 6/1 should lead. If the On-Pacers repeat last night's efforts than Danuki should come close. Race 3: Eptimum at 9/1 is winner from its last two starts. Will be on the speed with Experimentation 6/1. 7 and 2 for the minors. Race 4: the short priced fav will be on speed and hard to beat. Demerara 2/1. Going to put an Exacta on 2,4,6 to win and stand out the fav for 2nd. Worth a shot. They will all be on the speed and could pip the fav on the line. Race 5: 5 and 6 are favourites and both under 4/1. I'm going to go wider on some of the leaders here if the on-pacers have been winning earlier races. Savapinski 8/1 has won 3/5 and will likely lead from 3 Lubiton 8/1. Rocket Commander will be behind them, place chance. French Emotion is 3/1 for a place. That is good value. Just need to monitor how well the midfielders are going prior to this race. If horses are coming up the rail to score then will have a flutter on this one. Race 6: Cismontane will lead from 6 and 3. Again if the prior races have the leaders in the money then this is a good bet. Cool Chap a chance at 12/1 Race 7: 3 Glam Guru 8/1 and Touch of Mink 10/1 will lead with not much pace apart from these two in the race. Could run away with it. 2 Banish 6/1 is the danger. But could get too far back. Race 8: Burning Front 5/1 to lead and win. Race 9: Gailo Chop, Folkeswood and Royal Symphony to place behind Winx. Good luck and Happy Punting!

04.01.2022 Caulfield Today: Race 2: EW on 5 Octabello 8/1. Two starts for two wins and comes in almost 5kg lighter than last start. Race 3: like the odds on 10 Rimraam 26/1. Good place chance. 4 seconds and a win leading in. Will be on the speed and could sneak a cheeky place. Pinot 5/1 and Hiyaam 8/1 for the win and trifecta.... Race 4: happy to go on a shorter one here. Cliff's Edge at 4.50/1. Place bet on Ataraxia with Bowman on board. For a bit of value put the 6 in for 3rd (5:1 for the place). Race 5: Assign hasn't been at best so happy to risk. Should be between Samovare and Kiwia. Be wary of 6 horse fields though. Race 6: Ulmann is good second up. 8:1 worth a shot. All our Roads is over the odds at 10/1 and 3/1 for a place. Race 7: Badajoz and Faatinah for the win with Crystal Dreamer at 15/1 for a place. Race 8: risking the favourite Johannes Vermeer and Bonneval due to injury cloud. Seen this before and usually doesn't end well. So that leaves me with Jon Snow and Ventura Storm and Humidor. Amelie's Star to also be competitive. Watch Marmelo's run as they prepare this one for a real crack at the Melbourne. I've got FO for the Melb Cup at 34/1 on Marmelo. If I have to choose one I'll go with Damien Oliver on Ventura Storm. But not confident. 6 of these have claims. Race 9: money to be made here.
