20.01.2022 Congratulations to Lukas Michel and Jesika Clark for their victories at the annual Flinders Summer Open! A full field competed in the 36-hole event, with Mic...hel shooting 73 and 69 to win by one over Toby Walker. Jesika Clark took out the women's gross, finishing with two rounds of 84 to win by ten from Taylah Robinson. Congratulations to The Flinders Golf Club for a fantastic event! We will continue to monitor the Victorian Covid Restrictions and will adjust starting dates if neccesary. The Programme is designed specifically for beginner and novice golfers. 17.01.2022 Pro Tip: The Coffin (4th Hole) Flinders’ best-known hole, designed in 1926 by Dr Alistair Mackenzie. On Navy training days cannon fire provides an additional hazard. Risk and reward personified here. Almost as if the flag is waving at you enticing you to have a go. It’s dead left and long and there’s also 2 coffins to contend with. One is 150 metres from the tee which swallows any mishit tee shots and the other just before the green to swallow mishit approaches. Both offer unpredictable lies. Leave the Superman cloak in the bag, play safe and don’t leave yourself a downhill putt. Golf Professional Josh Shaw: The longer hitters will be tempted to have a go at the green, but slightly off and you can forget about a par. Safely play a long iron or wood short of the second coffin. Approach shot below the hole and try to make your putt.

07.01.2022 Pro Tip: Beach Hole (5th Hole) The magnificent coastal view makes a loss of concentration a real danger. Played along the cliff top that borders the left hand side of the fairway, a good tee shot is required to avoid strategically placed bunkers on both sides of the fairway. Longer hitters can attack the green with their second shot however a ‘3 pack’ of grass bunkers at front calls for the strategic play. A wayward slice will be punished by a cluster of green side traps. Rea...chable Par 5 all dependent on the tee shot. Tight driving hole with OOB on left side and lots of fairway bunkers to catch your ball. Take time to enjoy the view on your left hand side. Josh Shaw, Golf Professional: First of only two par 5’s with the long hitters being able to reach the green in two from the fairway. Tee shot needs to find the fairway with OOB left and trees and bunkers on the right. Bunkers protect the green so if you can’t reach in two best to lay up about 100m from the green to best set up the approach shot.
