25.01.2022 The Foodbirds travelled to the Ubud Writer's Festival in Bali last year, and managed to chat to global food stars including the inimitable Yotam Ottolenghi. Sadly, Covid-19 has stopped the festival going ahead this year, and the Governor of Bali has announced that the island, which was due to open this month, will remain closed to Australians and other travellers until at least the end of the year. It's a huge blow to the tourism and food economy... so we talked to the Ubud Fest founder and hospitality specialist, expat Janet de Neefe about the impact, and what to expect, perhaps next year. 24.01.2022 The Foodbirds love to venture into the country visiting the heart and soul of food production, farmers producing amazing product. Travelling in Tasmania recently, we tasted some delicious smoked quail legs, so as food detectives, we found the source. Farmer Bruce was welcoming and showed us around the production site.
