22.01.2022 Addison Road Community Organisation in Marrickville is responding to the COVID-19 crisis by extending its food security program and Food Pantry with a new Emergency Food Preparedness and Response Centre. The Gumbramorra Hall, has been re-purposed as a production and distribution centre, where wonderful staff and volunteers are preparing emergency food hampers. These hampers will be given to NGOs and charity groups to deliver to their most vulnerable and isolated community me...mbers and to people who are unable to visit and shop at the Addi Road Food Pantry. Addi Road is effectively creating a food hub for NGOs and a hub for individuals in need. Currently Addi Road is the only such service operating in the inner city. Foodbank is responding by delivering hampers of much-needed staples to people impacted by this crisis. As the crisis grows, thousands more of our vulnerable community members will be in desperate need of basic groceries and supplies. 07.01.2022 Friends, at the end of 2019 we made the very difficult decision to indefinitely close down @thefoodshedenmore , after six & a half years of providing access to affordable, sustainable, rescued food, to our Enmore and wider Inner West Sydney community. This decision came after considerable deliberation amongst our volunteers, as well as the membership and leadership of the @enmorenaz , who have all invested sacrificially, tirelessly, passionately, in the Food Shed's mission, d...emonstrating our commitment to make a difference in our world, our neighbourhood, showing Christlike love and compassion, being agents of hope and change. It has truly been a privilege to be a part of the lives and journeys of the hundreds of individuals who have accessed support from The Food Shed - Enmore throughout those years, hearing your stories, endeavouring to share the load, over a cuppa, and those beautifully tasty homemade treats regularly brought to us by Ms M... aaaahhhhh The primary reason that led us to this decision was the on-going challenge we experienced on a regular basis of the availability of volunteers for the weekly pick-up of our order from @foodbanknswact , as well as the Saturday morning distribution session. So, we want to publicly express our appreciation to each & everyone of you, for your support, who have made a meaningful contribution to The Food Shed - Enmore any time throughout those six & a half years. To all of our faithful volunteers, you were the lifeblood of all we did, without you we would not have been able to provide any of the support we did. Over those years we had the support of some very generous corporate and community partners, including @vseinternational , @DJ & A Pty Ltd, Foodworks Enmore, @thebreadandbutterproject .
