24.01.2022 We here at Fox have been closely following the news as the COVID-19 situation evolves. For the safety of all of our wonderful patrons and our staff we have made the difficult decision to postpone all workshops for the next seven weeks and close our regular operation to our membership base. This decision has been made based on the information we have right now, and our time period of ceased operation could be extended - alongside many small businesses we are in uncharted water...s and unsure of when we will be able to operate again. In the meantime, we are offering 15% off all our gift cards which can be used towards any of our Melbourne workshops as you please. Just use the promo code C19SUCKS at checkout. We are so proud of what we do here at Fox, yet as a small business we are extremely vulnerable to the current situation. 22.01.2022 Following the recent easing of the coronavirus lockdown measures here in the UK we are excited to report that life is starting to return to our Mobberley site w...ith our machines and staff being phased back in to operation. A lot has changed in the world in the 10 weeks since we announced the temporary site closure. The number of people who have been impacted by COVID-19 here in the UK is tragically high making our decision a justified and necessary precaution. We would like to offer our thanks to all the key workers who have kept the country going and send our deepest condolences to all those around the world who have lost loved ones or suffered through this terrible disease. We know the pandemic is far from over so while the machines were having a well-deserved rest (the longest period of down time they have ever had), we had a team working hard to implement a whole raft of onsite safety measures and new working practices to protect our employees and their families ahead of their return. In March we built up stock levels to see us through what was to be an undetermined period of closure. We are delighted that in this time you have all kept shooting film and many of you have even used your extra free time to get into a darkroom and print. As such demand for our film, paper and chemicals has remained high and now much of our buffer stock has gone. Our teams have a long list of back orders to fulfill as soon as possible and we will be working our way through this product by product. However, it may take a few weeks for this to work its way through to your retailer. During this period we also temporarily closed HARMAN LAB, (http://www.harmanlab.com), our onsite lab service for both black & white and colour film processing as well as enlargements and prints from digital files. We are now pleased to confirm the lab has also reopened its doors for orders with the films that arrived during lockdown as the priority. We thank all those customers for their patience. Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to all our customers, stockists and distributors who have been buying and using our films, papers, chemicals and accessories throughout. Your unrelenting support for our products means a lot!

11.01.2022 Six years ago we opened a little darkroom down a bluestone laneway in Kensington. In the years since, Fox grew to become a space that fostered community, supported artists and allowed the public to learn and be inspired by photography. We would like to send our deepest gratitude to all the people who have joined us for a workshop, exhibition or artist talk over the years. To our wonderful members/friends who frequented Fox, you have always been at the heart of why we do what ...we do, thank you. Thank you to the beautiful volunteers who breathed so much love into Fox Gallery. To the incredible artists who exhibited with us, having the opportunity to show your work was and remains so important. Thank you for being part of Fox. Lastly to the small team who have helped Fox run over the years, thank you for making it all that it can be. It is with mixed emotions that we inform you that Fox will be closing indefinitely in the coming months. The decision is not easy but it has been a long time coming. The factors which have played in the decision relate to not only the challenges of Covid-19, but also our beautiful building in Kensington which has been left in pieces by developers. We put everything we had into making Fox work but ultimately it isn't enough to keep it going. Supporting grass root arts businesses is now more important now than ever. Sadly there is a disconnection between what people want to exist and what they actually support. Somehow the arts are still considered negotiable and remain massively undervalued. Please support local artists, makers, business owners, labs and darkrooms because if you don't, they can't continue to exist. Before we close our doors at Kensington for good we will fulfil any pre-booked workshop and valid gift vouchers. 05.01.2022 As well as being beautiful, contact sheets are such a good way to keep a record of your work. When done right, they will last forever to aid easy organisation of your negatives. Our member @zo_damage is working to create contact sheets of her archive at the moment and theyre coming along brilliantly!

02.01.2022 Were pleased to announce that from this weekend Fox is reopening its doors for member use and workshops! We have been observing the government recommendations and have come to the conclusion that it is safe to operate with a limited amount of people in the space. This means we will be running our workshops again, offering: B&W Film Photography & Development Darkroom Printing... Colour Film Photography & Developing A range of private tuition courses covering alternative formats and advanced techniques Fox Creative Mentorship online program These courses are all limited to 4 participants in order for us to be able to abide by social distancing measures. We will also be reopening Sunday Sessions and Tuesday Night Sessions for our members, with a maximum capacity of 5 people using the space at a time. In order to control numbers and keep our staff and patrons safe, members will now have to pre-book their sessions and hours at least one day prior. We will have hand sanitiser and disinfectant at the ready for everybody who enters and leaves and we ask that anybody who is feeling ill or has had any community contact with a potentially infectious space or person please refrain from visiting Fox until it is safe to do so. We really hope that you will join us in reopening our space so that we can get back to doing what we do best - providing the highest quality darkroom facilities for artists to utilise, experiment and make work.
