25.01.2022 Pandora and our other permanent kiddos are being upgraded to big siblings! Baby Fox due March 2021 Sorry everyone that I have been so vague and distracted of late, we have had a LOT going on behind the scenes. From the highs of our wonderful tiny-human secret, to the lows of the awful diagnoses for our precious dogs, I am a tired ball of anxiety and rollercoaster-emotions! I hope this at least explains why I am no longer able to offer boarding or take surrenders. I will continue to run otherwise as normal as much as I can for the next few months, but perhaps just be a little more patient with me during this next journey

16.01.2022 Hi friends :) For those of you who don't know much about me, I work at The QLD institute of Medical Research in Brisbane, Australia. Tomorrow we have an Australia wide media launch for our new global research study called the Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative. We are hoping through our study to identify the genes involved in developing anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa & binge-eating disorder in order to improve treatments for these debilitating illnesses. If you have eve...r experienced an eating disorder, or know someone who has, please consider participating in our online survey, and donating a saliva sample so that we can continue the much needed research in this complex field. You don't have to wait for the media launch, if you want to find out more info just hop onto edgi.org.au and you can find the link to the survey there. Obviously all of the information we collect is confidential and DNA samples are de-identified. I have worked my tired little butt off getting this project ready for launch and I really hope that we get a positive result and can make some changes worldwide for ED sufferers!!

16.01.2022 Origami keeps on keeping on she's such a tiny trooper. She is on medication for life but has perked up a bit in the last week, so we will just keep it up and see how we go

15.01.2022 HUGE thanks to Wildlife Rescue Queensland for taking in our cheeky little rooster, Lacey! Byron has helped us in the past with another rescue rooster, Ken, and has once again stepped up to assist us when we were stuck for options. Lacey will get some lovely hens of his own later today (and hopefully a more masculine name!) and will be back to his usual happy self in no time. One day we will get acreage....sigh.

13.01.2022 Sundae is wishing everyone a happy Friday! Its been a long week, time to relax

12.01.2022 Princess is looking for a foster carer while we start the process of finding her a friend and a new forever home. Are any of my carers able to squeeze in a little girly? She is around 2 years old.

12.01.2022 This is one of my least favorite things to ask for donations for.but as our rescue account is never in credit for very long, and our amazing donations and sponsorships help to cover our everyday costs as well as our regular vet and medication costs, I have not been able to cremate any of our little guys for quite some time now We are fortunate to have a couple of really lovely cremation companies who assist me when the time comes, and offer affordable cremation costs for w...hen I do have a lot of kiddos waiting patiently to get done. I also have access to wholesale urns every bit helps! As this year has been particularly expensive vet wise, I have 5 groups of much loved animals waiting to be cremated, which is going to set me back around $600. I try to reduce these costs as much as possible by putting them into groups (we have such wonderful harmony here at home between our rescue birds, piggies, and mice/rats so I am sure they don’t mind sharing a beautiful urn!), but I am (selfishly?) wanting to get Pumbaa and Simba, as well as Wally and Moe, done in pairs. For anyone who has followed our rescue over the years you would know how special those boys were and even though they would still be safe at home together with the others, I do really want to give them their own little urns if possible If anyone would like to contribute to this it would be so, so appreciated. I hate that I can’t get our critters done immediately and we have to store them, so it would be so refreshing to bring some closure to our home again. 12.01.2022 Cleaning cages takes it all out of me these days...the animals are sympathy napping

11.01.2022 Master Ernie is home he is still a little dopey from the anasthetic, but is taking his critical care well and got into a bit of corn. His lady friends were happy to see him! Hopefully he will be back to his usual self soon Huge thanks to everyone who donated towards his costs!!

11.01.2022 Guinea Pig Secret Santa Aus/NZ registration is now up please consider being a Santa, the gifts that rescues such as myself get from this wonderful program honestly keep me going for months afterwards!

09.01.2022 Sorry for the radio silence, my beautiful boy Max was euthanised on the weekend, even sooner than we could have anticipated So I have been dealing with that whilst juggling work and making sure my old gal Ruby is coping okay on her own for the first time in 12 years. This last fortnight has been filled with the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life! I am tired, and I am really hoping for some emotional stability for a little while so I can feel human again. My work... life is crazy busy at the moment, by the time I get home I'm exhausted and then have to do it all again suuuuppperrr early the next morning. But! To catch up on rescue related issues: (1) I have piles of vet bed cut offs all over the place, and am so grateful to everyone who is patiently waiting for me to send their orders I promise I will get it sorted in the next day or two. (2) As my focus has been elsewhere, I have not kept up with my usual fund-raising so was hoping to raise a few dollars for a hay run this week. I have been fortunate enough someone to have escaped the piggy vets for a couple of weeks, which is unheard of! The piggy gods must have heard I had other stuff going on in my life. So for the most part the sponsorships have kindly covered a lot of our daily veggie bills, and our rescue Guardian Angel Kathy has us covered for pellets for a few more weeks (3) please don't forget to register as a secret Santa via the link on the The Guinea Pig Secret Santa Project facebook page. The gifts dont have to be extravagant, rescues will be listing the things they benefit from mostly and it's generally things like critical care, oxbow treats or pellets, water bottles etc etc. Things we go through really often, and I truly mean it when I say the stock I get each year from secret Santa's really does keep me going for ages! Its the best program around and I know I'm not the only rescue who is so appreciative for it every year.

07.01.2022 Max and Charlie are our last remaining adoptable pair They have been waiting ever so patiently (since March!) for their new home to come along - thankfully their wonderful foster mum is not in a hurry to see them off. The boys need a lot of space, they are both teenagers with a lot of energy to burn. An indoor home with C&C cage would suit them best. They would benefit from cuddles and handling so would suit a home with only few (or no) other piggies. ... If you are interested in adopting you can find our application form here: http://www.thefoxresidence.com.au/adopt.html

06.01.2022 Handsome grandpa Ernie is off to the vets tomorrow as he probably needs a dental procedure. It has been maaany months since his last dental, which is fantastic considering he is palliative with osteodystrophy, dental disease and middle ear disease! I have been so incredibly busy with work and life, and our poor rescue account is looking very sad at the moment if anyone would like to contribute towards Ernie's upcoming costs he will be eternally grateful Paypal: [email protected] The Fox Residence BSB: 084606 Acc: 38 961 3226

06.01.2022 Kevin has THREE girlfriends! he is very happy...the girls, well, they'll get there.

04.01.2022 Today is the day for Krazy Kevie! Kevin was neutered a while back and I am trying him today with some of our permanent ladies...watch this space!

03.01.2022 Chickens are so undervalued, despite being incredibly affectionate, entertaining and (sometimes) intelligent creatures. Not to mention beautiful Iggy was one of our first rescue chickens. She was blind, a little special, and one hell of a honky tonk, but gosh she gave a lot of love. Rest peacefully Iggy Chook we will miss you and your weird antics so so much.

01.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE: BOARDING Hi everyone. Due to personal circumstances I am no longer able to offer boarding services...eek. However, I am hoping to get together a lovely and reliable team of carers who can help with our regular boarders and previously adopted piggies who usually holiday with me, so as not to leave our lovely supporters in the lurch once Covid settles and 'holidays' are a thing again. ... If you have previously adopted from or fostered for me, and are able to offer boarding at your home, please get in touch I can provide some basic things for set up, and all boarding fees will go to you to cover food and your time. Please note that we are still running as usual with the exception of boarding
