25.01.2022 Clearing around the fence lines means we need to cross the gullies and the opportunity to put in a few more leaky weirs arose The gullies both have a small amount of trickling water from the rains earlier in the year - I didn’t realise how much though - there seems to be a multitude of underground streams that pop up when they hit bedrock. The weirs are slowing the flow

19.01.2022 So just 5 days (possibly 4 but we weren’t there ) after the dam was completed on Thursday night the 3.5 megalitre dam is full - a bit muddy but full

19.01.2022 Creating a few more water retention features along the small gully

18.01.2022 The dam is still looking fantastic. We have about twenty ducks that are hanging around loving not only the water we have retained on the property but also the lush growth from the seeds that I broadcast after the project was finished It’s been an amazing experience and I would recommend anyone to create a total water retention environment on your property. Just having the water there creates such a rich environment and adds so much to the diversity of a landscape ... If anyone is interested I know that Zach Weiss from Elemental Ecosystems is open to travelling back to Australia again - he can do either projects or a design that can then be carried out by local contractors

15.01.2022 Here is a project that Zachary Weiss from Elemental Ecosystems has been working on Can’t wait to hold a screening https://www.elementalchange.world/

15.01.2022 The leaky weir - just created in one day - has proved to be super effective. This area was the first choice for a dam as it is high in the landscape yet the clay here (after our drought) was too dry to form a water tight key The weir has held up a decent body of water to hydrate and being live to this area - also it is at the head of a large gully and it both prevents the huge surge down there and allows the underground water to trickle for longer Pretty pleased with it - b...elow the weir is an image of the dry gully - so I would have had that ir this fabulous small Body of water See more
