25.01.2022 Business is unseasonably busy at the moment due to the Covid-19 situation easing and multiple salons in the area being closed. Please understand that it may take a bit longer than usual to get in for an appointment at the moment as a result. If you are planning on making a booking, please prepare a few weeks ahead. I love seeing all your pooches and dont want to let anybody down My sincerest apologies for any inconvenience! Thank-you all for your support over the past few challenging months xx
24.01.2022 Here’s some adorable Ernesto to warm your hearts on a chilly Wednesday night
24.01.2022 Dont you just want to squeeeeze this little baby? 4.5 month old Tilly had her second Puppy Pack session today. This girl is going to be an absolute super star to groom in adulthood. Shes such a chilled pooch on the grooming table Please note: I am currently booked out until the second week of September. Please book in advance for your dogs next groom as I suspect it is only going to get busier as the weather warms up. Im so sorry for any inconvenience; I dont want anybody to miss out or have to wait too long. Thanks so much for all your amazing support!

23.01.2022 Does it get much cuter than this?? Gorgeous Lenny the Shetland sheepdog brought his baby sister Lottie in to hang out at the salon today. 4 month old Lottie had her first exposure to professional grooming and became confident on the grooming table very quickly. Shes definitely going to grow up to be just as gorgeous and full of personality as her cheeky big brother. I simply adore this breed
22.01.2022 6 month old Bosley was converted from a Nova Scotia Dryer Chomping Retriever, to a Nova Scotia Spa Loving Retriever today! This handsome lad isnt a huge fan of noisy machines and at first was determined to leave some teeth marks in the dryer nozzle, however with some delicious treats and lots of patience he soon figured out the dryer wasnt so scary after all and that it was far more beneficial (and maybe even a little pleasant!) to tolerate the drying process. Exposure to ...dryers when dogs are still young is super beneficial for all breeds, even those with short coats. As puppies they are far more adaptable to scary stimuli and much more responsive to the desensitising process. Adult dogs who either have no exposure to, or a negative experience with dryers at a young age will often become panicked by the loud noise and strange sensations from the dryer, so it is always great to start your pup off on the right foot with a professional, patient groomer who will take the time to ensure your pup has a positive experience See more
22.01.2022 Astra the miniature schnauzer came to me as a 16 week old puppy absolutely terrified of clippers. Most puppies are apprehensive of the noisy grooming tools but Astra was on a further level of fear than most. Over multiple 15-30 minute sessions, Astra and I have built a trusting relationship through the use of treats, praise and toys. Her mum provided some irresistible roast chicken which was the ideal reward for her! Today was our first attempt at a full groom from start to f...inish and, armed with a Kong stuffed with chicken, Astra handled everything with great confidence and was bursting with excitement to get on the grooming table what an enormous difference from the terrified little pup I met two months ago. We will now begin to work on slowly removing the Kong from the situation and using regular treat rewards instead. (Please note - all handling in this video is very gentle. You will see me hold her muzzle and raise her chin slightly at one point - this is for safety; it ensures the skin on her neck is not going to crease and slip between the blade as I clip her neck. My hand is placed gently on her head to lay the ears flat which ensures the skin at the top of her ears is safe.)
20.01.2022 Dear little Astra after her first adult groom. Not perfect as I want to ensure she is entirely calm and will work towards the groom being accurate when she is completely comfortable with the experience. But she has definitely come a long way, happily playing with her toys while I trim her feet and nails
20.01.2022 Arrow gave the SA government puppy-dog eyes as he was sick of my company; the government fell for it and now I will be reopening from Sunday! I’m currently working on rebooking all appointments that were cancelled the last couple of days. However, I am otherwise fully booked until Christmas now. I will not be closing over the Christmas/new year period bar public holidays, so I will be able to fit in any other appointments then stay safe and sane in these crazy times
19.01.2022 This handsome boy is absolutely blowing me away with his progress. Whylie unfortunately began to exhibit aggression after a very rare reaction to a medication and it has been an ongoing struggle for his owner since. He has required muzzling for grooming for quite a while and was very fearful of the process. Thankfully, he is very passionate about food! His first appointment, he was very apprehensive about approaching me and would take a piece of food and run. His second appoi...ntment, I introduced him to a grooming loop which he immediately attacked. Using luring, shaping and counter conditioning, I trained him to wear the loop on his own accord. The next session, I introduced scissors, which he also immediately attacked. Lots of counter conditioning had me trimming around his eyes by the end of the session. Next session we did a lot of scissoring all over his body, furthering his trust with the scissors and body handling. Yesterday, I introduced the clippers. And amazingly, he trusted me very quickly with them and I was able to begin clipping him all over. I am so, so proud of him. An amazing thing has happened since we first started working together on the 22nd of May. Whylie has learnt to communicate clearly to me in a way that has made him realise he no longer needs to bite me. At first, he was very quick to snap and we had a few incidents where he was triggered off and really lunged at me in a panic. But the session before last, he figured out he could snarl at me and I would respect that - he doesnt need to bite to let me know hes unhappy. He snarls, I back away, he seeks some space and can re-engage with me when he is ready. Yesterday was the first timebhe didnt snap at me at all, despite me doing the most challenging part of the groom for him so far. If he was uncomfortable, he would walk away, then re-engage when he was ready. He is now wagging his tail at me, constantly watching me in case I have a delicious snack for him, and is enthusiastic for his grooming sessions. I am so looking forward to seeing this boy and our bond blossom even further. Shout out to Whylies amazing mum for being so committed to his progress and believing in my techniques even though the results arent instantaneous. What a legend See more
19.01.2022 Everybody needs a baby schnauzer on their Facebook. Welcome to the Funky Foxhound Fam, Ernesto
18.01.2022 Covid-19 update: Yes, we are open until otherwise instructed by the government. However, it has been recommended that people only leave their houses for essential purposes. So I encourage you, as dog owners, to assess whether or not your dogs grooming is essential at this point in time. Services for pets has been listed (see photo) as a reason to be in public (in NSW, but presuming the rules are similar nation-wide) so it appears there are no legal repercussions for see...king grooming for your pet at this point in time, however I highly recommend only doing so if your pet is at risk of becoming matted in the near future. If you wish to cancel your pre-existing bookings I 100% understand and there will, of course, be no cancellation fees or anything of the like. I am sanitising the salon, doors etc between clients, wearing a mask when interacting with clients and keeping my distance. Please make drop off and pick up as fast as possible and have your pets on leash as opposed to handing them to me from your arms. Thank-you so much for your compliance. Most importantly, please look after yourselves and your loved ones in these particularly trying times. All my beloved clients are in my thoughts as we face challenges we have never had to face during our lifetimes. Please remember to speak out if you are struggling, and never be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Much love to you all. Stay safe xx See more
18.01.2022 This trio are such a handsome group of lads dear Timmy in the middle was the first dog to be groomed by The Funky Foxhound when we opened on December 24th, 2017. He and all his siblings have been loyal clients ever since. Theyre all special in their own little way and I just adore them. Their mum does an incredible job with her special needs pups, and I am so blessed to groom them. Bear, Timmy and Butterball (who thinks Tim is an exceptional chair ) Ps. Its very hard to get a nice photo with one blind dog and one deaf dog
16.01.2022 I think with the events currently occurring around the world, its important for me to clarify that we do not stand for racism at The Funky Foxhound. I believe in equality and love, and I believe in respecting our fellow human beings no matter their race or where they have come from. This salon is a safe space for everybody. As a white person myself, I know I will never understand how it is to face racial discrimination. However, I stand with the BIPOC community. Much love to you all
16.01.2022 You all adored baby Ernestos photo the other week, so of course I have to share his first big boy haircut! At only 15 weeks he did amazingly well with sitting still. What an angel
15.01.2022 At only 5 months old, baby Ari was an absolute superstar for his first full groom! Ari has just finished off his Puppy Pack, which allows me to counter condition the puppies to grooming over three sessions, so that they can learn that grooming is a fun, enjoyable experience. It makes an enormous difference to their confidence in the grooming salon and these puppies burst through the door to hang out with Treat Lady Ari here was so perfect. What a doll Please note: I am now booking out approximately three weeks ahead, so please make sure you book in your poochs grooms in advance to avoid disappointment. Thanks all!
15.01.2022 Anxious little Ebony the cairn terrier was simply a delight to groom yesterday. She came into the salon very nervous, and when placed on the grooming table she laid flat and tense. However, with soothing words and a few treats she started to come out of her shell and by the time she was pre-clipped and ready for the bath, she was running around my feet with her tail wagging. Gaining the trust of the scaredy bears is always so rewarding and seeing Ebonys confidence transform from the beginning of the groom to the end was so touching. I look forward to building on this bond in future sessions
14.01.2022 How gorgeous is Luna the 10 month old Border Collie? This girl was an absolute superstar for her first groom today, and had an absolute ball finding every toy in the salon to play fetch or tug with
13.01.2022 Im super excited to be attending this online two day conference with presentations from some big names in dog training and behaviour! One blessing that has come from the current crisis: these things are being conducted online, meaning theyre accessible to us Aussies who cant just take a week long trip to London Im pretty pumped to further my dog behaviour knowledge
13.01.2022 A babys first groom is soooo exhausting according to dear Lola the 16 week old cavoodle pup who couldnt keep her eyes open while I trimmed her feet. Such an angel
13.01.2022 Sorry for my slow replying over the past few weeks, it has been my busiest festive season yet and Ive been very overwhelmed so thank-you so much for bearing with me. Dear Harlow the Pomeranian was my last pre-Christmas Pooch for 2019 and she would like to pass on a very important message to you all May your Christmas be full of love. Thank-you all for your support over the past two years. I look forward to seeing all of your beautiful faces and your gorgeous dogs in the New Year! Stay safe
12.01.2022 This is so important for all dog owners to remember. Reactivity is not your dog being bad - it is your dog being overwhelmed, and needing your support to understand or escape the situation that is stressing them out. I know as humans, reactivity can be frustrating. I live with two reactive dogs - I get it. But we need to try and see these things from their point of view in order to help them
11.01.2022 Oh Roxy and Summer, what a glorious pair

10.01.2022 Ive been working with little Charlie for a few months now and whilst his progress has been slow, it has been steady. Charlie is a very anxious little dog who was very scared of the clippers and initially wouldnt allow me to handle his legs or rear end at all. However with his mum bringing him in for consistent 15-30 minute desensitisation sessions where I practice different parts of the groom with lots of praise and treats, I am slowly seeing improvement in his anxiety and all-round behaviour. Im looking forward to the day he can handle a whole groom
10.01.2022 Gorgeous Frankie the three-legged legend was no longer coping with the stress of a regular busy salon, so his wonderful groomer referred him to me for a more private grooming session. He has now had his second session with me and is already coping with grooming much better. Hes a darling fella who just needed a chillaxed environment for his pamper sessions
07.01.2022 Gorgeous pair, Cassie and Rocky. Too cute for words
07.01.2022 Hi all, due to the latest government announcement I’m sad to inform you that The Funky Foxhound will be closed from midnight tonight, until further notice. Hopefully we can be up and running again in 6 days but all will depend on government policies. I will be contacting everyone who has a booking when I’m finished grooming for the day. Stay safe everybody, and make sure to take care of your mental health in these tough times We will be playing lots of fetch
06.01.2022 This trainers techniques are very outdated, unprofessional and scientifically disproven. He believes in terrifying dogs until they are obedient and does not reflect the direction in which Australias dog training culture is heading. Please consider signing this petition to prevent his backwards influence from reaching Australian shores. https://www.change.org/p/pet-professional-guild-offer-their
06.01.2022 MISSING SEAVIEW DOWNS SA Zen and Ayla, two male domestic pigeons. Aviary door came open some time today. Zen was hand raised in captivity and doesn’t know how to find food and water in the wild. Ayla has been in captivity for years. Zen is dark in colour, very vocal and quite friendly. He will come within the vicinity of people and may coo and circle in front of people. Ayla is less tame but is easily identifiable by his green leg tag. He’s very large for a domestic pigeon. They are greatly cherished pets who will not survive in the wild. Please contact me on 0481 559 224.

05.01.2022 Dear boy Ozzie is such a sweet old man. Despite his age, this darling boy has such a gorgeous puppy face and is as gentle and cooperative with grooming as the first time I met him. Could not ask for a more perfect client
04.01.2022 More cavoodle cuteness that is simply to die for! This is beautiful baby Coco after her first bath and tidy yesterday. This confident little girl had a lot to say about the grooming process but she was an absolute super star welcome to the fam, Coco!
03.01.2022 Hi all, just asking for a little bit of patience with me at the moment please! I am trying to lessen the amount that my dogs bark and unfortunately, given their breed and constant energy, its not a terribly easy task. I am currently trying a clicker training technique where I need to address them every time they bark and reward them when they stop. I have to be persistent with this otherwise it wont be effective. So please excuse me if I have to duck out quickly whilst we a...re chatting to ask this pair to quieten down. Also, can I please ask that if they are barking at you when you arrive, please dont talk to them or acknowledge them as this rewards the behaviour. It may take me a few seconds to get to the door as Ill be trying to settle them before I answer. It will be for the greater good of everybody in the long run, I promise! Thanks so much for your understanding See more
