21.01.2022 Fun start to our school holiday intensive programs with one of our groups making Sensory Glitter Bottles - which we used when we felt our bodies needing a reset - so we gave them a shake up - and focused on our breath while we watched the glitter fall slowly to the bottom of the bottle

19.01.2022 You may notice our waiting room looking a little different next week with some added social distancing measures we have put in place. Please note that only 4 people can sit and wait in our main wait room and to help we have added some ‘x’s to our seating to help is all maintain our distance. If you enter the wait room for your session and there are already 4 parents/caregivers in there, please wait downstairs until the room has cleared. We are still encouraging clients to wa...it in their car until their session time (please do not arrive early) or ask your therapist to come and get your child from the car if not coming in to the session. Another reminder that only ONE adult is allowed in to each session and only ONE adult allowed to wait in the waiting room per client. This is important so that we can maintain correct social distancing. You may be kindly asked by our reception staff or your therapist to wait with other adults or siblings outside. We also have signs around the clinic showing the maximum number of people permitted in each therapy room at a time, so we can comply with the 1pp per 4sqm rule. Thank you all for continuing to keep the GCFC safe x

13.01.2022 Hello GCFC Family! With so much change over the last couple of weeks, our team have been busy building up our library of video resources for current GCFC clients. We now have a private Instagram page that you can follow and share your own videos on. Our team will be regularly adding easy ideas to incorporate at home.... Please go and request to follow @thegcfc instagram page and your therapist will grant approval to join. Please note, The GCFC remains OPEN as we are an essential service. If/when this changes, you will be contacted ASAP to arrange for Telehealth/consultation/parent coaching services. Several of our therapists have already moved to this model so you should have been contacted by them already. Here’s our wonderful OT Tom showing us how to incorporate a simple rolling activity when doing a puzzle - developing core strength, vestibular processing, spatial awareness and visual perception

06.01.2022 We have been working on supporting this little guy to tolerate vibration input as another tool to help him feel calm and organised. Vibration is an incredibly strong form of sensory input that activates vestibular and proprioceptive (movement and pressure) responses that can help improve attention, body awareness and create a calming and organised state. This was paired with his favourite @therapeuticlistening Quick Shift ‘Body N Space’. Over the weeks he has become more int...erested so his awesome mum ordered one for home. Today his OT Linda used the vibration through her own body on the plate and facilitated some hand holding to share the vibration input from hers to his. Today he stayed close, sought out the input when he felt the need to and we shared some amazing moments of engagement and connectedness. His mum sent me these photos of him at home as his very own vibration plate arrived when they returned home - and what a wonderful response!

Mel is in the clinic Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays and has fitted right in with the team and her new little mates already. Finally, we want to congratulate our amazing OT Yasmin on the safe and delight...ful arrival of her precious little bub Perfect end to OT Week at The GCFC
