18.01.2022 Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of The Gap Storm. The incredible destruction was captured in some amazing videos, including the one below. Even today, people still talk about how people came together in the weeks afterwards to rebuild. What a wonderful community The Gap is!

18.01.2022 Buzzed about the Bus How fortunate are we to have such a great bus service at The Gap? It runs every 15 minutes, goes direct to the city and Cultural Centre and takes half the time to get to the city that the train over the hill takes! One more reason its great in The Gap! A side note - its lovely how passengers still thank their bus driver when departing. Cant do that on the train!... GAPRA www.4061.org.au

18.01.2022 THE GAPS BLUEY IN THE USA - HOW AWESOME IS THAT! ABC childrens series Bluey was created by a local family in The Gap and is set in our beautiful suburb. Its been such a success in Australia that it is about to start screening through Disney in the USA! Great to see a Queensland creation exported to the world - plus making The Gap world famous!!

15.01.2022 Where has the BUZ has gone? The 385 service to The Gap is a fantastic service - with busses running every 15 minutes. Its our link to Brisbane. But we hear from a number of people that the performance of this service is problematic in the evenings, when many services from the city to The Gap are cancelled or re-routed to other services. Whats your experience of this? Is there any accountability for on-time performance for our bus services?

12.01.2022 MOVIES We fully support the proposal to redevelop the Red Hill skate arena into a boutique movie theatre. This site was ORIGINALLY a theatre from 1920 - 1940. These redevelopment plans will take it back to its original use. The plans are only being objected to by Reading cinemas in Newmarket for commercial reasons. 07.01.2022 Update - According to documents provided by Cr Toomey, the original development application was rejected by council and appealed in court. The final conditions (which included removal of the tree) was approved by the court in 2017, then approved by council in 2018 (in accordance with the court order). It doesnt seem like they wanted the tree removed either. Its an unfortunate outcome that a 60+ year tree would be removed just to fit in one more townhouse.

06.01.2022 Suspicious vehicle We have heard about a suspicious vehicle today. A man and a woman driving in a white Toyota Ute have been spotted acting suspiciously in parts of The Gap today and knocking on doors. Keep an eye peeled.

02.01.2022 TALL ORDER Has planning in BRISBANE gone completely mad? A heritage listed house in Scott Street, Kangaroo Point has been completely consumed by a high rise development built literally over the top of it. In a twisted irony, the original owner of the building (which was commissioned in 1925 - https://bit.ly/2LfWIFX) was the founder of the Queensland Historical Society. 01.01.2022 PEACOCK Believe it or not - this wild peacock was photographed in our Brisbane suburb of The Gap! Apparently they can fly short distances and it is thought that this specimen flew over to The Gap from the Brisbane Forrest Park. Judging from his "piercing call", he was looking for a mate!... Must have succeeded (or gone home) as we havent heard him for a few days. Thanks to residents for sending this to us. Wonderful huh!?!
