25.01.2022 Well we wanted rain!

23.01.2022 After yesterday's big wet, today the garden is truly glorious! We got no wind at all. Not a single flower damaged or plant knocked flat by the heavy rain.

22.01.2022 Facebook has decided to remove some of my posts about weeds as they assumed they were drug related! That little "s" on the end changes the context completely in common vernacular but not for automated filters it seems

19.01.2022 Started your Christmas shopping yet? Working With Weeds is available directly from me if you are local, otherwise why not get it from Green Harvest and get some other garden goodies while you are there? https://greenharvest.com.au/boo/OrganicFruitVegetable.html

17.01.2022 Evenings in my garden are intoxicating with the perfume of brugmansias. I love these plants, and this one, "Shiver Me Timbers", courtesy of Canungra Valley Tropicals - Brugs Galore I especially love. Being in the solanaceae family they will be attacked by the 26 and 28 spotted ladybugs. These are the leaf eating ladybugs, well at least the larvae are leaf eaters, most ladybug larvae are wonderful predators of the bugs we don't want (including these ones!) . I did catch a lady laying eggs but there are very few larvae here indicating that predators are keeping them in check. There are plenty of holes in the leaves but that just helps me see and enjoy the flowers!

16.01.2022 Can't wait to get back to garden shows! First up will be this great show in March at Rocklea showgrounds. This is a one off workshop too, so don't miss it. I'm doing it especially for this expo

07.01.2022 Some amazing creations taking shape in this morning's mosaic workshop! Can't wait to see them all finished next week

06.01.2022 Further to the garden bugs story started yesterday, I was thrilled to find assassin bugs hatching as I was harvesting prickly lettuce this morning. These babies are voracious garden predators and will help keep insect pests in check in my garden. The prickly lettuce leaves, harvested as the plants come into flower, I will dry to have available as a medicinal tea for insomnia and pain relief

05.01.2022 I love clients who are as delighted as I am to have these creative touches in the garden. In this case they are part of her "tea garden" featuring teapot planters.

03.01.2022 I love this plant combo, even if it's hard to get it all in a single shot! All growing in one tub. It is usually just the maroon iris with the orange canna, but the addition of the red amaranth (Thanks #basilealivingherbs ) has made it really pop. I like using coloured foliage to enhance the colour of flowers, it tricks the eye into thinking there are flowers than there actually are. This is especially valuable for us in the subtropics where we are more likely to get prolonged but more sparse flowering as compared to a cold climate summer flush of flowers
