22.01.2022 It has been a bustling scene along Glenferrie Road today as restrictions ease, allowing all retail stores to open their doors and cafes and restaurants to welcome indoor and outdoor diners. It is more important than ever to shop local during these times, and there couldn't be more perfect weather for an afternoon coffee at Hawthorn Brew Bar, a knock-off cocktail in the new Nevermind Bar beer garden, or a balmy alfresco dinner on the Santoni Pizza rooftop. Welcome back Glenferrie!

22.01.2022 HAPPY HALLOWEEN to the Glenferrie community! While we might not be able to do our usual trick or treating along Glenferrie Road this year, we can still remember some of the terrific outfits from last year We hope everyone has a safe and spooky Halloween - and don't forget you can pick up any last minute candy or creepy decorations from our local stores such as My Red Shop, Homing Instincts, and The Leaf Store!

19.01.2022 What are you most excited for this grand final weekend - seeing the Cats face off against the Tigers on Saturday, or the public holiday tomorrow? The grand final long weekend is a relatively new public holiday, introduced only five years ago by the Andrews government. However, fans have celebrated on the Friday before the grand final for almost 50 years, embarking on the traditional march through the Melbourne CBD since the 1970s. When this particular Friday finally became a... state public holiday in 2015, the same year the Hawthorn Hawks won the premiership against the West Coast Eagles, the march drew a record-breaking crowd of over 150,000 people. For the first time ever, the grand final will not be played in Melbourne due to COVID-19. Over the weekend, Geelong and Richmond will instead face off at the Gabba in Brisbane. This year, the state government has named the grand final eve public holiday 'Thank You Day', in recognition of the sacrifices and community efforts made by all Victorians throughout 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-19. While this year might look a little different for Melbourne AFL fans - and you might have to save your grand final BBQ plans for next year - this weekend, every Melburnian can switch on their television, laptop, or phone and join their neighbours in watching the game that brings us all together.
