25.01.2022 This NAIDOC Week we pay our respects to the incredible knowledge, strength, resilience and tenacity of Australia’s First Nations women. As the custodians of this sacred land on which we all live, work and play, they continue to infuse Australia with the beauty and herstory of the oldest living culture in the world, and this week, like every week, we give thanks and look to them for guidance and inspiration credit @sashamortimorephotography #alwayswasalwayswillbe #NAIDOCWeek

14.01.2022 Today we are super excited to announce a new partnership with the wonderful women at REAVI-Baho . As a grassroots organisation in Burundi working with survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, REAVI-Baho is dedicated to providing women with the psychological, emotional and social support they need to rebuild and improve their own lives. We’ve teamed up with them to provide 60 women over 3 months with a highly sort after modern basket weaving training program and assoc...iated business training, start up capital and store front premises in the marketplace so they can collectively sell their wares and earn themselves an income. All this costs just $90 in total per program participant - or just $30 per month. We couldn’t be more honoured to welcome REAVI-Baho to The Global Women’s Project family

12.01.2022 That’s how much of your money goes directly into our women’s empowerment programs when you make a donation to us at The Global Women’s Project. We are so proud of the fact that last financial year we spent just 6% of the money you entrusted us with on administration and fundraising. The remaining 94% went directly into funding our overseas projects. So for every $100 you give to GWP - that’s $94 going directly into the hands of underserved women through skills training, bus...iness development and micro loans . Feels good to know exactly where you money is going, doesn’t it

07.01.2022 We don’t have all the answers, but we stand ready to be part of the solution. Black and Indigenous Lives Matter. #blackouttuesday

06.01.2022 Super excited to be featured in this wonderful article on the power of social media movements in Marie Claire yesterday. Like similar movements before it, the #womensupportingwomen challenge currently filling our feeds is a powerful way to raise awareness about a vast array of feminist issues including rates of femicide and domestic violence throughout the world - and has now been expanded to include female solidarity and the importance of propping each other up - rather tha...n cutting each other down. But this kind of awareness can only achieve so much. It's not until we actually commit to making a difference and (if we can afford to) back that commitment up with supporting an organisation that actively seeks to achieve this change that we will really start to see women empowering each other, particularly those that have such limited access to the resources and opportunities they need to safely improve their own lives. https://www.marieclaire.com.au/women-supporting-women-insta

03.01.2022 Today, like every day, we say no to the violence that robs women and girls of their physical safety, emotional security and mental stability. We say no to the abuse that steals the hopes and dreams from otherwise strong and powerful women. We say no to the manipulation that traps women and girls in dangerous and detrimental situations. ... And we say no to the inertia and apathy that too many governments and societies continue to show to both these women and the broader impact of this violence on us all. We stand with all women, everywhere. We stand as one and we say it’s time to say no to violence against women! #saynotoviolenceagainstwomen #StopGenderBasedViolence #IDEVAW

02.01.2022 Looking for something deliciously different and easy to bake while stuck at home this weekend? Why not give this tried and tested recipe for Gwaramari a try - it’s a crowd favourite at breakfast time with the women and families we work with in Nepal. And stay tuned for videos of our legendary volunteer Dearne cooking up her own Gwaramari storm... coming soon...
