16.01.2022 Did you know? The egg shell is made primarily from calcium carbonate, known as nature’s ceramic, which is the same hard substance found in chalk, limestone a...nd coral. Hens need a lot of calcium to produce strong egg shells. Each hen requires around 4 grams of calcium a day, in order to get the 2 grams needed for one egg shell. In human terms, this is the equivalent of about 1.5kg of calcium per day (for a 70kg person), which is as much as you’d find in 1,500 litres of milk! This is one of the many reasons that a proper diet is so important for laying hens. #BarastocPoultry #WePutTheChickenBeforeTheEgg

The Australian Government's strong guidance to all, is to stay home unless you are shopping for what y...our need, this includes 'FOOD' and necessary items. We are classified as a Farmers Market which is a FOOD MARKET. We have a great venue at The Showground and have spaced the vendors' out accordingly. Sanitiser stations, health signs and security are all in place right now. We have a huge road sign upon entry to remind customers of the importance of social distancing. We are an open air market and much safer then visiting a supermarket, where it is almost impossible to follow the social distancing rules of 1.5 metres. So come along and support our farmers' - grab your essentials and stock up for the week.
