It includes samples of miniature clothing, buttoning and sewing. Needlework samplers were created by novice and skilled sewers alike for practice. They were also used to document different needlework techniques for future reference and recreation. ... Victorian women were taught needlework from a young age, as it was considered a vital skill to be able to sew for themselves and their future family.

While our sites, including The Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Gold Museum and Narmbool remain closed, we are busy re-working our program of activities to ensure we deliver an outstanding visitor experience when there is a further easing of restrictions allowing for larger gatherings suitable to the size of our venues.
