25.01.2022 Sadly not all the plums were this size but Jack Spork wins the biggest plum of the season. Also a photo of the final night when we all got together and said good-bye. This was a great group of really interesting people. We wish them all well and hope to see them next year!!!
24.01.2022 Please enjoy this short article about the Queen Garnet, with thanks to "The Australian Stonefruit Grower". To see information about the current research please see the embedded tags and also Nutrafruit Pty Ltd website?

24.01.2022 Found Queen Garnet at Wendland Olives in Toowoomba. Tasted Great.
24.01.2022 Hi Everyone. The season is almost on us. At this stage it looks like picking should start somewhere around 20th January so fruit should start to hit the shops on about Monday 23rd. The fruit appears to be in great shape. From everyone at The Good Rich Fruit Company we hope you have a great eating experience.
24.01.2022 Some of the Team. If your photo is not there yet, it will be soon.
23.01.2022 Sorry for the confusion. Woolworths will not be the only market altough it will be the only "major" and a very good supporter of ourselves and Queen Garnet. A high number of the independent retailers throughout eastern Australia will have have access to Queen Garnet through the traditional produce market in each of the capital cities. If they dont intend having Queen Garnet you may be able to encourage them. In Queensland you may wish to ask your "local quality grocer" and... they will be able to get QG, at the same time as they get their other fresh produce, through Favco at the Brisbane Markets. The fresh fruit should be available just before Australia Day and nectar is still avaiable online through Nutrafruit.com.au and at a number of premium stores including Betros in Toowoomba. We will keep you posted. See more
22.01.2022 Final Day, great team photo. Thanks for sticking at it as it was extremely hot and this season was extremely hard to harvest.
22.01.2022 Just a note to those waiting on this years crop. Picking should start the week of the 18th January and hopefully into the shops, including Woolworths, a little before Australia Day. We just went up to the orchard and they look great. Some rain would make them even better. Seems like a lot of areas in western Qld have finally had some good rain, lets hope they get some follow up. Best wishes to everyone for the New Year from all of us at the orchard.... We will keep you posted. See more
20.01.2022 Hi Everyone, It has been great to get so much interest for processed QG. At this stage nectar is avaiable from nutrafruit.com.au We grow the fruit and sell it onto Nutrafruit who then do the R&D, etc. Nutrafruit is devloping a range of products and we understand that over the next few weeks they hope to have products into a range of retail outlets. We will keep you posted.
19.01.2022 Millions of little helpers doing our pollination this spring. We are all very proud of our success in developing farming practices which have not required pesticides for some years. Healthy trees and these guys are our reward.
18.01.2022 Another good look around today. It is very hot here but we think that picking is still probably going to start about the 20th to the 23rd. As a result of the need to pack and transport, etc the first it will appear in shops will now probably be the 30th. Ask your fresh fruit & veg retailer to be ready then as Queen Garnet should be in all the eastern state capitals that day. We hope they taste as good as they look!

16.01.2022 Fruit growing very well (We just need to hope the hail stays away- a lot of other farmers have been very unfortunate this season) Mulch ready for next season. Trees very healthy. We hope picking will start about 20th January.
15.01.2022 The special entitled Why Am I Still Fat? goes to air on Catalyst, 8pm ABC-TV on Tuesday night, 13 October. The program includes interviews with the scientists who have done trials on the Queen Garnet (QG) Plum and its positives. Another positive is that Woolworths will have the QG Nectar in a large number of their stores from late November. We understand it will be in the produce section.
14.01.2022 Anyone after work. Many thanks from your many enquiries but, sorry we have not replied to you all. We dont manage the legal and technical complications of employment ourselves. Please go to www.best.com.au/harvest-labour-employers or phone 07-4681 6200 as they handle our employment and also do work for many others in the district.
14.01.2022 Hi All, Here goes another season starts with water!!! As with the rest of eastern Australia we have full dams and have been really lucky to have received so much usefull rain. The flowering just finsihed and it rained most days so might not be as good as it could have been buts lets hope its OK as the bees worked hard when it was fine.... The trees look great, plenty of compost, so that should help. During the winter we installed a water conditioner/magnet from Delta Water to improve the quality of the water and that, with the good fresh water should give us a good year. The number of requests for fruit or nectar have been amazing and we really appreciate your support. By way of an update, we wont be picking until late January which means fruit in stores at the end of January, nectar from Nutrafruit.com.au will be a little later. Again, thanks for your support and we will keep the updates coming. (We just need our kids home on holidays to do the Facebook stuff). Best wishes, Good Rich Fruit
14.01.2022 GENERAL UPDATE Thank you to everyone who has contacted us over the last few very busy weeks. It feels good to supply something as good as the Queen Garnet. I will try to cover a number of your questions in one posting. * Those of you who watched ABC Landline will be aware that the unseasonal winter affected this years production and we therefore had less fruit than early 2015. Consequently we were unable to supply all markets this season. Unfortunately that has meant a lot o...f southern markets were limited in their supply, particularly through Woolworths. * This season has also seen a lot of mis-representation and other fruit being sold as Queen Garnet. Unfortunately a portion of that activity has tarnished the reputation of QG where some people were disappointed where as in fact the fruit they got was not Queen Garnet. We put stickers on all Queen Garnet,to help ensure the buyer was purchasing the real fruit,an inconvience for the buyer but a neccesity. * As consumers we have different expectations. Some people like the firmer fruit and some like the softer fruit. Therefore this season we supplied two grades to match and your retailer will have supplied you with his preffered type. * As the season comes towards its end it may now be hard to acquire Queen Garnet but the nectar is still on line at nutrafruit.com.au and now in most Woolworths and a growing number of leading independent retaillers. If your retailer does not have it then please ask them to get the QG Nectar which is avaiable to them at the main fruit market in each capital city. Nectar as distinct from juice is not reconstituted or blended. * There has been interest in growing trees. As previously explained, Nutrafruit has the commercialistaion rights and only they can give out licences and only to commercial growers. Again, many thanks for your continuing interest and lets hope the season is more favourable next year which should help us to supply more fruit and alleviate some of the pressure on price.
14.01.2022 Well here goes. Start picking tomorrow. Fruit look great but we are tired before we start.
13.01.2022 Sunday, 12 noon, ABC TV Landline, has a review of the year for the Queen Garnet. A lot has happened. As with all Landline segments, it should be very informative and positive.
13.01.2022 Eric Glasser making compost for early spring. We try to use as many natural products as we can so we would rather make an orchard specific compost than buy an off the shelf product. Heaps of manure, stubble, lime, etc. You can see the trees in the background have lost their leaves for winter and we are expecting cold weather over the next week.
13.01.2022 We just got back from the National Biological Farming Conference at Lismore. Great event. We got a lot of ideas to improve our farm but most importantly the general "feel" of the speakers and particpiants reinvigorated us and gave us confidence that we are on the right track. We want our fruit to be better for you. More nutrient dense, tastier and as healthy as we can make it. Speakers included Gary Zimmer from the USA who runs an ever expanding organic Dairy & now consults to 1000s of American farmers. Practical ideas & pricnciples.
13.01.2022 Hi Everyone As you can imagine we have had a terrible year so very little fruit. Therefore nearly nothing from us in the market but there are other QG growers from the southern regions who are in the market. So QG is still available and Nutrafruit.com.au have derivative products, including Nectar on sale all year around. We hope you are still enjoying your Queen Garnet and will be back next season.
12.01.2022 We had Professor Lindsay Brown from the University of Southern Queensland & Channel 7 here yesterday and you can see everyone was on their best behaviour. Early mornings and hot days seem to be the order of the day at this time.
12.01.2022 We have been busy picking so the Facebook page has been a bit neglected. Can we please answer a number of queries in one posting. * Queen Garnet is available to all grocers in the Eastern states. If your Grocer does not have them then ask the Grocers to get QGs in. At each capital there is a reputable agent selling them on our behalf. * Woolworths got their first order this week so Queen Garnet will be available in the shops they choose to market through. * Please note some o...ther growers and agents are now selling plums with deliberately similar names eg Raspberry Garnet & Black Garnet. These are not Queen Garnet and appear to be oppurtunistic attempts to market lesser varieties. Queen Garnets will have the sticker, displayed in a recent post on this site, and those are the only real Queen Garnets. * For those who have asked for trees. Unfortunately QG is not available. Queen Garnet is a controlled variety developed & owned by the Queensland Government who have licenced the variety through Nutrafruit Pty Ltd. QG is only avaiable to commercial growers as there are annual fees, etc. Please note that we as, The Good Rich Fruit Company, are only licenced growers and market through Nutrafruit. We hope you enjoy the Queen Garnet, it tastes great and its good for you.
11.01.2022 QG seems to fit this perfectly.
07.01.2022 First picking yesterday, cooled overnight and then today, was the first day of grading & packing. The fruit, on average, is bigger than last year and tastes great. Please note the white "QG" sticker reffered to on the 9th of January on this Facebook Page. Nutrafruit wants to protect licenced growers so please support us when our fruit goes into the market later this week. We hope you enjoy them.
07.01.2022 Caitlin Holding from Local WIN TV met us at the Packing Shed today. A group of us talked about a number of local issues and we also had a chance to explain the Queen Garnet. Great chance to discuss something of the local issues because Caitlin did her research and understod the issues. Should see a couple of stories over next few days.
06.01.2022 The Queen Garnet plum is continuing to gain attention as a superfood, this time with research showing its potential to lower blood pressure. Nutrafruit Pty Ltd
04.01.2022 Great to have Landline back. It showed how far we have come.
02.01.2022 Nectar now in Woolies, we hope you have seen it, apparently going really well. If you cant find it there, try your local high quality grocer or it is online at Nutrafruit.com.au. We hope you enjoy it.
02.01.2022 Landline repeats the story on the Queen Garnet Plum today, Monday, at 11am. Also available on ABC iView permanently. We enjoyed it, we hope you do.
