14.01.2022 Sadly with no tourists around Walhalla at the moment it has left us with little choice but to close Monday - Friday for the next however long and will only be open on the weekends from 9:30am - 2:30pm Sat & Sun A relatively good long weekend does not make up for weeks on end of poor visitor numbers to the town and surrounding area. Walhalla NEVER received any post bushfire support in 2019 not so much as even a rate cut, or extra promotion from Government, Tourism Industry bo...dies such as Destination Gippsland or Visit Victoria and has only recently been granted money by the Baw Baw Shire, who have stepped in when no one else has or would! However Walhalla and the businesses within continue to suffer, suffering the indirect impacts of the East Gippsland fires. Sadly this not only effects us, it also has flow on effects to our much valued staff and their families. We really hope this situation improves soon or we’ll be gone for good, it’s as simple as that folks. Destination Gippsland - A page for tourism businesses Visit Baw Baw Cr. 11.01.2022 Winter is just around the corner and we’ve been thinking long and hard about what is in the best interest of us, our staff and our business to do. With the vagaries of the current COVID-19 operational requirements, we have decided that the best plan is to set a date well into the future so we are not on/off/on/maybe. Our plan is ( all being good ) that cafe will reopen on 1 October, 2020. ... We will also keep you informed but for now & until October...

09.01.2022 Hello there, We have had some calls from folks asking if we are open, as much as we’d like to open with all the ups and downs of COVID-19 and operational requirements, we will remain CLOSED as planned until October. Our plan is ( all being good ) that cafe will reopen on 1 October, 2020. ... We will keep you posted but for now & until October...

09.01.2022 With the new restrictions and C-19 limits, we have decided to extend our closure and hibernation until December 1st 2020. Hopefully by this time we will be a position to open with some form of new normal that we feel is acceptably safe and workable for our staff to resume work and that is going to maintain a viable business as there is little point opening our doors to do so little trading that we go broke anyway. Thanks for you understanding & stay well!

04.01.2022 It’s a beautiful sunny autumn day in town today, something we’d love for you to enjoy, however even with the easing of restrictions as of tomorrow at 11:59pm, W...alhalla will remain closed unless you have family or friends here. We understand that camping and overnight accommodation is NOT allowed, the Walhalla Historic Area remains closed and that the mine and train are not permitted to reopen. While we know that people want to come to Walhalla and wander around we would ask you NOT to do so at this time. Unless you have a property in Walhalla or are here to visit your family/friends who have property there is no essential reason to be here. Going out for a 4WD adventure is not essential either. As a very small community it’s vital that we minimise our contact...if you choose to join the scrum at Chadstone, we’d really prefer that you didn’t venture to Walhalla the following day! Just a reminder that all cafes and businesses in Walhalla are pretty much closed, the Walhalla Lodge Hotel, The Wally Pub is doing take-aways on a Friday night only, the public toilets are closed as are campsites and park areas. While there has been some easing of COVID-19 restrictions, it’s not changing what happens (or doesn’t) in Walhalla at this time. Thanks and stay healthy people. See more
