25.01.2022 The view at sunrise from the top of Kalkani Crater. #KalkaniCrater is a 30 minute drive from #undaraexperience where you can take a self-guided walk. Climb to the saddle of the crater and walk around the eggcup-shaped rim with endless views of lava plains. The circuit is 2.5km long and takes around 1.5 hours to complete. Captured by @seanscottphotography, on his recent trip along Savannah Way.

14.01.2022 Queensland Rail Travel proudly supports #NAIDOC2020 Always Was, Always Will be. NAIDOC Week is a significant event celebrated at Queensland Rail to acknowledge the history, culture and achievements of First Nations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Peoples and their contributions to the community.... To protect First Nations Elders and vulnerable communities from COVID-19, we held a virtual smoking ceremony which allowed more of our employees across our diverse network to share in this experience - see some clips below!

14.01.2022 It's big, it's purple, it's iconic... Purple Pub, Normanton Have you stopped in for a drink here?

10.01.2022 And that's a wrap. Today is Gulflander's last service for 2020 from Normanton to Croydon and tomorrow's Croydon to Normanton trip will be the last service for the season. 10.01.2022 Temperatures are starting to rise... So, when you are heading out and about for the day, be sure to follow Queensland Health’s advice to avoid heat stress: 1) Drink 2 to 3 litres of water a day at regular intervals, even if you do not feel thirsty ... 2) Seek shade and rest during the heat of the day 3) If you do go out, wear lightweight, light-coloured, loose, porous clothes, a wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen. 4) And regularly check local weather forecasts for up-to-date information For more tips visit https://bit.ly/3flwykq

08.01.2022 Railmotor 93 sits and waits patiently in the shade ready for another 152km trip to Croydon.

07.01.2022 How is the size of this guy!! Probably one of the most recognisable landmarks in Normanton is 'Krys' the Savannah King. This replica is scaled to the true size of a giant 8.6 metre saltwater crocodile, which is the largest ever captured in the world! The unlucky guy was shot on MacArthur Bank, Norman River in July 1957. Livin In The Now

04.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW?? The caustic vine ('Sarcostemma viminalea') is an interesting-looking succulent that can be deadly! Its pencil-shaped branches have a white sap that is very corrosive and toxic to most animals. However, the sap can be used to stop bleeding, help cure sores and heal skin rashes. 02.01.2022 Our Savannah Guides will keep you entertained with trivia, species identification, amusing stories featuring colourful characters... All from the best seat in the house!
