25.01.2022 This guitar had seen some action over the years, and was in need of some time on the bench! After discussions with the owner, we decided to do a few mods while we were at it, as well as fix up a few things. This one got "the works": * Stainless steel refret... * Change all of the hardware from chrome to black. * New custom pickguard to accomodate the new tremolo. * Graphtech nut and saddles. * Complete change of wiring - out with the old original humbuckers, in with Seymour Duncan JB and SH1 humbuckers, new switch, pots etc. * New Gotoh locking machine heads. This one was pretty much a full rebuild!
19.01.2022 Greetings! So I’ve had a few enquiries lately, asking if I am still open for business, and the short answer is Yes, but. The long answer is this: Yes, I am still open for business, but for the immediate future, I am not taking appointments to drop gear off for service or repair, but I will happily accept items sent directly to me via courier or Australia Post.... I have done many mail order repairs in the past, and I have a PO box set up to receive items to repair. I can also arrange return postage via Australia Post, or via Sendle, who work with major courier and delivery companies, and will pick up from my door and deliver back to you. I am more than happy to work with you regarding your postal and delivery preferences. (You may consider using Sendle if you are self-isolating, and don’t want to go out to post anything.) I have ordered more cleaning supplies (namely Isopropyl Alcohol - the main ingredient in most hand sanitisers), to clean your items on arrival prior to repair, and again prior to repackaging and sending back to you. If you think there is any possibility that this process may harm your instrument or equipment in any way, I suggest we wait to service it until the current health crisis has been dealt with. (I have to say that it is highly unlikely to harm your gear, but I will not be held responsible if it does.) Also, please note that if your item requires parts, there are longer than normal wait times for parts to arrive, especially anything from overseas, but even sourcing parts domestically right now is taking longer than normal. Because of this, I cannot offer any guaranteed repair times. But it is worth noting that most, if not all suppliers and distributors are open for business, even if it is at a reduced capacity. So if you have gotten this far, than you for reading the long answer! If you have any questions regarding any of the above, or have some gear you would like to book in for service, please contact me via my website at www.hairydude.com.au, via email at [email protected] , or message me via The Hairy-Dude facebook page. I hope you all stay safe, stay sane, and be excellent to one another! Cheers, Brett.
18.01.2022 Nice simple fix this one - replace the broken pot and put on a new knob. Most pedals are a simple fix for little problems like broken pots, faulty switches and sockets. Need a pedal repaired? Contact The Hairy-Dude through facebook, or via the website at www.hairydude.com.au .

13.01.2022 Another great night with Pure Blonde Rock Show at Altona Sports Club.
13.01.2022 Sunday afternoon.... Must be time to make some mirrors for Martin Roboscan 518s!
11.01.2022 This Fender Squier came in for some attention! I replaced the broken plastic nut with a Graphtec nut, shielded the pickup and control cavities, sorted out some wiring issues, and it got a good clean up and setup with new strings.

07.01.2022 Hey folks! Just wanna say thank you to all my regular and new customers for your support during this "interesting" year! I hope you are all safe and well, and able to spend quality time with your loved ones over Christmas, and I hope to catch you all in the new year. I'll be taking a short break, and back open for business on the 11th of Jan. I'll still be available via email and Facebook Messenger for any inquiries, quotes or appointment bookings (for after the 11th).... Thanks again, and be excellent to each other!
05.01.2022 A couple of shots of the boys from Ace Of Spades, playing at the Inkerman Hotel in March 2016. Always a great night out mixing these guys! https://www.facebook.com/AceofSpades.OzMotorhead/
05.01.2022 Some old photos I found on my hard drive.... A customer bought this guitar without plugging it in to see if it worked. Lets just say it had issues!
04.01.2022 When the customer wants an LED in his Kirk Hammett signature wah pedal, you put an LED in his Kirk Hammett Signature wah pedal! Had to replace the switch and do a little rewiring, but the end result is pretty cool!
03.01.2022 Some photos showing some of the process of converting an Epiphone guitar to be fretless, using strips of maple veneer to fill the fret slots, and create side markers. The fretboard was levelled three times: once when the frets came out, again when the maple strips were glued in, and finally when the gloss finish was applied - which is, believe it or not - superglue! Once the nut was filed down, the guitar was strung up with DAddario Flat Wound Chrome strings, 12-52 gauge.... It was an intersting experience playing this fretless guitar, as I had never played one before. Sounded amazing when sliding up and down the neck! My customer was very happy with the result, and Ive heard hes preformed live with it recently with his band. If youd like a guitar or bass converted to be fretless, please get in touch via my website (htpps://www.hairydude.com.au), or via Facebook.
