22.01.2022 0230h 29 May 2020, TK becomes a centurion!

22.01.2022 Why did we start The Hangar? I have been asked the question often. There is a story in us all. Experiences, people, places, education that shape us. It matters; the story. Who we are. How we will live and leave this world matters most. Personally, to make a difference resonated. So I broke it down into three categories:... Self Awareness Responsibility Participation The Hangar started with an awareness of ourselves but also as a family. How our experiences have shaped our lives and the lives of our children. A conscious journey. The responsibility we have to contribute and participate and think of not just ourselves but of others. Intrinsically, we all want to make our world a better place. But how, and what would this look like? So think Big! Why not. A pie in the sky idea. How can we make a difference, one person at a time with the limited resources but with huge hearts. Cultivating a feeling of concern for the welfare of others is the core ingredient. I think the 'otherness', of connecting one’s happiness with the happiness of others, is a part of it. So in sharing our love of aviation with The Hangar was formed. We were fortunate enough to have a small group of people believe and support this project. Many lessons have been learned. I think I know more about policy, insurance, liability, grants than most. Still more lessons to come but more than ever I think we need options for our young people to engage with. Liza - Mentor

19.01.2022 The Sopwith Camel made it into TAVAS museum at Caboolture today. Wings to be attached in the coming weeks. More info on this aircraft at our website - www.tavas.com.au/sopwith-camel.php

17.01.2022 It is easy to overestimate the importance of one defining moment and underestimate the value of making small improvements on a daily basis, writes James Clear the author of Atomic Habits. Why? Well frankly, too often we get caught in the bad news of today. Sometimes it can be frightening. When you see a movie about a writer, you dont see him tirelessly working on their novel for months or years, or a Top Gun pilot doing repetitive circuits. 16.01.2022 What an amazing effort!

15.01.2022 Had a great time sharing my story and perspectives on resilience and self-esteem with the Year 3-6 students at St Brigids Primary School Kyogle yesterday! It’s ...always a privilege to share the lessons I’ve learnt and to have an impact in the lives of others, particular young people. More often than not they teach me a thing or two as well, through their own perspectives and the questions they ask, and the students at St Brigid’s were no exception. Very much looking forward to speaking more, especially as the restrictions lift. #stbrigids #resilience #motivationalspeaker #growthmindset #selfesteem #privileged #motivation #inspiration #impact #lessons #students #primaryschool

11.01.2022 We saw this stuff posted and thought we would share. If it gives someone even just one strategy to help get through these challenging times, it is worth the read. MENTAL HEALTH WELLNESS TIPS FOR ISOLATION (Directed or Self-Isolation) 1. Stick to a routine. Go to sleep and wake up at a reasonable time, write a schedule that is varied and includes time for work as well as self-care....Continue reading

09.01.2022 Well here it is..... Thanks to the incredible generosity of Lee Ungermann, The Hangar now has its very own aircraft kit to use for its kit build programs. www.thehangar.org.au

08.01.2022 Get up to Caboolture airfield tomorrow and see these two historic aircraft along with plenty more at the TAVAS Museum. Engine runs by both of these plus the in...credible rotary engine of the Fokker Eindekker E.III will be happening at 1130 and again at 1330. You may even get to meet and speak with one of Australias current young front line fighter pilots who just happens to have a passion for single seat museum aircraft.

08.01.2022 Some more vision of The Hangars latest addition. Our kit build program just got shifted to a new level. Check out what we do at The Hangar - www.thehangar.org.au

07.01.2022 Go and check out this and many other incredible aircraft at TAVAS Museum, Caboolture airfield.

06.01.2022 One of the aircraft we will be doing an engine run on during our grand reopening weekend (11th & 12th July) is the Fokker E.III Eindecker with its all spinning ...rotary engine a technology that did not continue after WW1. During the war, pilots did not trust single wing aircraft, believing them not to be as strong as biplanes. So Anthony Fokker came up with this cunning marketing photo to change their perception. Please dont try this on our Eindecker! See more

06.01.2022 The latest edition to TAVAS museum being loaded on a trailer ready to transport to Caboolture. Huge thanks to Dave Walsh and his team who are making it happen.

01.01.2022 It just keeps getting more and more impressive. While most people have been at home in bed TK has continued to cut laps around his now extremely familiar track at RAAF Base Amberley. What an incredible demonstration of mental toughness and resilience. We can only imagine the barriers that he has had to overcome in the early hours of this crisp morning. Keep it up TK, you are crushing it!

01.01.2022 With the easing of restrictions in QLD next month, TAVAS museum will reopen on Friday 10th July, after having been shut for almost 4 months. There will be 2 new aircraft on display. More details to come. A great opportunity to come and view this unique collection.
