21.01.2022 8 stupid things I do to get ready for a big lift - rearrange my singlet - it has to be even on both sides - breathe deeply... - get my mean face on - I know I look stupid but it works for me - follow the same set-up routine - if you ever watch me squat, bench press or deadlift you will notice that I take my time to do the exact same set up routine every time - pace up and down - listen to the pokemon theme song - once I hear those words "I want to be the very best, like no-one ever was" its on! - pretend that my water is magic - always have to have that magic water to help me feel stronger - make sure that I dont have to fart - the last thing you want is a follow through when youre straining under the load #brisbanepersonaltrainer #anytimefitnesstoombul #anytimefitnesswestend #motivation #fitness

18.01.2022 Eating more frequently increases your metabolism? False Large meals but less frequent = high spikes in metabolism but less frequent. Small meals but more frequent = low spikes in metabolism but more frequent... They ultimately balance out. It comes down to personal preference.

It's always important to look back to where you first started Photo 1 (2011) - This was after training for a year so you can imagine how tiny i was at the start (50kgs) Photo 2 (2013) - first year living in Brisbane and having an actual gym that wasn't in my garage ... Photo 3 (2014) - my teenage bodybuilding comp Photo 4 (2015) - one of the photos that got my the email asking me to come on the bachelorette Photo 5 (2016) - I was in a relationship at the time and my training wasn't great Photo 6 (2017) - went through a breakup at the end of 2016... decided to try and build a lot of muscle... got a little tubby instead Photo 7 (2018) Photo 8 (2019) Photo 9 (a few weeks ago) - currently around 88kgs. Building up towards competiting again at the end of next year. I was originally going to this year but covid and a 10 week lockdown stopped those plans in their tracks. 17.01.2022 I will always be a firm believer that if you have any body composition goals tracking your food is the best way to go. Here's why. The biggest factor is the fluidity of your metabolism. It is constantly changing. A few factors that will change your metabolism: - hormones... - weight - height - age - exercise - current calorie intake - macronutrient ratios - sleep When you know how many calories you are consuming and you compare that with your changes in weight, waist measurements and body fat levels week to week you can learn what's working and what isn't. If you don't track your food one day you might consume 2000 calories, the next 2500, then maybe down to 1500. The point is that you just don't know how much is going in so while you might step closer to your goal one week, you may move away from it again the next and you won't be able to see why. Know your numbers; know your results

16.01.2022 Well 2020 has definitely been an interesting year. There's been a lot of testing times but also a lot of good that has come out of it I believe. I think a lot of us have definitely been a lot more fortunate than we realise. I am so thankful for being able to make it through with my business still going strong. I understand that a lot of others have not been so lucky. That is why this year I have decided to do a food and toy drive for the salvation army. 16.01.2022 3 key components to a successful meal plan 1) speed - everyone is busy and no one has time for lengthy prep times. I know I definitely dont Im even still at work while typing this. 2) taste - if youve had a long day and your stomach starts to rumble on the way home you need a meal so tasty and enticing waiting for you at home that youre able to drive right past the smell of maccas or kfc drifting through your windows... 3) nutritious - this one goes without saying I feel but you need to at least get your 1-2 serves of fruit and your 2-5 serves of veggies plus a multivitamin to back you up. 16.01.2022 Little Jayden This photo was taken back in 2013. At the time I didn't drink at all because I was so focused on my training and stepping on stage to compete. ... My friends were playing a drinking game at the time of this photo so instead of shotting alcohol they made me have teaspoons of sugar. Safe to say I wasn't the brightest spark in the room. Crazy how times change though and you start to understand more about balance. I'm still not a big drinker (mostly just because I get the worst hangovers), but I understand now how I can fit alcohol in and still reach my goals. I think a case can be made for sugar here as well. In the last maybe 3-5 years sugar has really been demonised. Sugar only becomes a real issue if you either: - don't get enough fiber because you are only having sugar Or - you have it in excess amounts which will cause you to gain weight In the second instance though it isn't actually the sugar that is making you gain weight it is the excess calories Too many calories combined with not enough exercise will make you fat. Stop demonising things. Everything in balance and nothing is ever black and white. Except maybe meth. 08.01.2022 Yesterday I had someone tell me that I wouldnt know about weight loss because Im just muscle. To that that person I thank them for the compliment and the post idea But also, not only have I been able to help hundreds of people lose weight already but I have had to do it myself. Yep I started off as a skinny kid at only 50kgs. At that point my hardest challenge was putting on weight. With time, hard work and determination I was able to achieve that. Then came my first wei...ght loss challenge. Getting ready to step on stage for teenage bodybuilding. While I wasnt overweight I did have to become extremely lean to bring out all muscle definition. Plus anyone who has ever competed or just anyway who has had a huge weight loss journey knows that it is much harder to strip the fat when you dont have as much of it compared to when you have a lot. Through education and experimentation Along with the hard work and consistency again I was able to accomplish this task. From there I knew that I would have to get bigger if I wanted to do well in future competitions. Unfortunately, I was impatient and went a little bit overboard. I pushed myself up to 90kgs and gained a lot more body fat than I wouldve liked. But again with the right plan of action I was able to strip this off again. 07.01.2022 Warning! Do not try this at home! If you ever see me doing bench press you will see that I do not use a spotter. There are a couple of reasons for this: 1) There's nothing quite like the fear of doing to force you to get that bar up to the rack... 2) The jittery spotter - so many people when you ask for a spot grab the bar too early. You tell them the exact cues for when to grab it but it's like they want to grab that bar and run off with it. I want to know how much I can lift not how much I can lift with your help. The one exception I would probably make is when I'm going for a 1 rep max attempt. If you're reading this and are still pretty new to training don't do what I do. I've learned over the years where my breaking point is. I know when to stop, you do do not. 06.01.2022 controversial topic More people trying to build muscle should be eating meals like this. I do a lot of consults every week and the story is usually the same with people trying to get bigger. ... "I eat so much and I don't get any bigger" A lot of times they actually are eating a lot but it's normally a lot of healthy, low calorie, filling foods. Don't get me wrong, this us great. I'm never going to knock people for eating healthy, but if we are focusing on a purely aesthetic change then often the opposite becomes very helpful. Sometimes you will need these calorie dense meals that can go down very quickly and don't keep you full for long. Because if you have ever had to eat 4000 calories or more you know it can be really difficult to get that much in. Given this, I would still recommend building your meal plan from the ground up. Put your 2 serves of fruit and 5 serves of veggies in there first and build meals around them. But...
