24.01.2022 Today Crossroads North is celebrating their 27th birthday. We had a great dinner at the Over 50s Club, and there was cake! Here is Crossroads President, Daniela, with the birthday cake.

21.01.2022 Getting the worship space ready for Advent. (It’s not finished yet, so you’ll have to come to worship on Sunday morning to see the finished look) Our Advent wreath and candles this year were made at Messy Church earlier this month. So each week as we light the Advent candle/s, we will be reminded of the connections and fellowship between the Sunday morning congregation and Messy Church folks.

20.01.2022 Christ is risen! Happy Easter! This is probably the most different celebration of Easter that most of us have ever experienced, but even though we cannot gather together for worship, there is still good reason to celebrate the risen Christ. Moderator Rev Denise Liersch reminds us to look to Jesus for a way forward during this time of seismic upheaval.

18.01.2022 Another Easter message- this time from Dr Deidre Palmer, President of the UCA Assembly. (The video will ask for a password, it is Christisrisen). https://assembly.uca.org.au/n/item/3164-easter-message-2020

17.01.2022 If you are looking for something to guide your devotions during Holy Week, you might like to check out this video, which reflects on the traditional Stations of the Cross. The video goes for approx 40 minutes. Thanks to Rev James Aaron from Sydney for coordinating a team of people to create this resource.

17.01.2022 In response to the government's relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions, we are very happy to announce that worship services will resume from Sunday 5th July at both Newnham and Lilydale churches. (Newnham will worship each Sunday at 9:15am, and Lilydale on the first and third Sundays of the month at 11:15am). We will still need to observe all physical distancing rules (maintain 1.5m distance, and no handshaking, hugging or other contact), and strict hygiene and handwashing/santising practices. (and if you are at all unwell, please STAY HOME- for your own, and everyone else's care).

16.01.2022 Christ is risen! Let’s celebrate!

15.01.2022 The Following announcement was circulated to key Uniting Church leaders throughout Tasmania earlier today: "I am pleased to announce the appointment of Bronwyn Howard as the new Administration Coordinator for the Uniting Church in Tasmania, commencing from Monday 27 July 2020. This appointment is the outcome of an open recruitment process that flows from the retirement of Sue Walker from 24 July 2020. Bronwyn brings many years of experience working for the Uniting Church in... Tasmania, and is looking forward to the new challenge of coordinating the administrative functions of the Tasmanian Office which support local leaders and Lay Preachers, ministers and ministry workers, and the three committees of the Presbytery in our collective focus on helping congregations and faith communities to thrive and to utilise their resources for mission. Bronwyn is currently enjoying a period of leave before the transition to the new role commences. The role of Administration Assistant will be advertised in due course. Rohan Pryor Synod Liaison Minister (Tasmania)" Congratulations, Bronwyn! We are very excited by this news, and pray that God will guide you in this new chapter in your professional work life.

14.01.2022 Saturday’s Presbytery meeting in Poatina included some good news stories, with particular connection to LNUC.

13.01.2022 LNUC takes very seriously our responsibility to be a safe place for all people, especially children and vulnerable adults.

11.01.2022 In an attempt to have more interactive online contact with LNUC members and friends during this social isolation time, I have created a public page (Rev Caro Launceston North UC) which I hope will act as a place for communication and fellowship, and some thought-provoking conversation for people connected to our church, who can't come together for regular worship and catching up. You can find the page here: https://www.facebook.com/Rev-Caro-Launceston-North-UC-108143184195299/?modal=admin_todo_tour Feel free to give it a 'Like'.

06.01.2022 This week’s North Eastern Advertiser bestows ‘cover girl’ status to one of our Lilydale congregation members. Take a bow, Dot! (Second from right)

06.01.2022 The season of Advent commences at the end of November, through to Christmas, but perhaps the month of November, leading up to Advent, would be a good time to work on this Reverse Advent Calendar idea.

05.01.2022 The latest advice from the Presbytery of Tasmania for churches in navigating the Tasmanian ‘Roadmap to Recovery’. https://ucatas.org.au/preparing-to-resume-church-gathering/

05.01.2022 I know it's hard to believe, but Sunday week (29th November) is the first Sunday of Advent, which means that Christmas is not far away! This year, Act for Peace has provided a very neat way for people from church congregations to donate to The Christmas Bowl. We have our own personalised Launceston North Uniting Church donation website, where you can make your online donations to the Christmas Bowl, receive a tax deductible receipt (for donations over $2), and we as a parish, and Act for Peace as an organisation, will be able to keep track of the overall donations that come in from LNUC. Why not check it out- the link is here: mycb.link/48893

05.01.2022 In response to the Tasmanian government relaxing the restrictions on face to face gatherings, our Church Council has met to discuss a plan for LNUC emerging from physical isolation. We are working on our COVID-19 safety plan, and working towards resuming Sunday worship services at Newnham and Lilydale from the *first Sunday in July.* We are also in the process of contacting the other regular users of our church premises, to work with them to plan for the resumption of their activities in a COVID-19 safe way.

04.01.2022 We join with members across the Uniting Church in Australia, and other church and community groups, to pray and act for an end to gender based violence.

03.01.2022 LNUC hosted today’s Presbytery meeting. Here are some highlights.

01.01.2022 Launceston North Uniting Church has changed the way we operate. In response to the unfolding COVID-19 situation, we have suspended all face-to-face church activities at Newnham and Lilydale churches for now. Our churches have not ‘closed down’, but are rather working in a different way, to worship God, and nurture and care for each other, and those around us, from separate physical spaces. Our aim is to do our bit to flatten the curve and care for our community, especially those most vulnerable.

01.01.2022 We stand with our friends from Crossroads as they grieve the loss of one of their long-time members. Rodney will be missed, and we pray for his family, and wider Crossroads family at this sad time.

01.01.2022 In the news this week: Cecily Rosol from Pilgrim Launceston congregation talks about her experience as a foster carer. https://www.examiner.com.au//have-you-ever-thought-about/
