24.01.2022 Hi I’m Lani A Mum, Wife, Postpartum Doula, Registered Nurse and Student Midwife. I started this page to offer families a service for one of the most crazy-beautiful times in their life- the Postpartum Period!... I truly believe there needs to be more support, preparation and education around this crucial time for not just baby but for the mother. I had completed my doula training and launched my business just before Covid-19 hit and boy did it derail my plans. But now I can see it was a sign that I needed to do more growing and learning, not only as a doula and midwife but also a mum and a woman who wants to heal and support other women. So that is what I am doing.. and as I give to others and I am receiving so much more back. If there’s one thing 2020 is showing us it’s the importance of growth and evolution, togetherness and connection and of course the strength of love I hope you enjoy this page and the information I share. My one true wish is that my posts helps just one mama out there get through a time that goes beyond the 6-week check up and know that you are not alone and I am thinking of you #doula #postpartum #midwife #midwifery #postpartumdoula #thehawkesburydoula
22.01.2022 Today is National Sorry Day, a day to reflect on and acknowledge the painful history of the Stolen Generations and the injustices First Nation people endured and still endure in the present. I pay my respects today, and every day, to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and recognise their extraordinary resilience.
22.01.2022 I am actually amazed at the reduction in presentations we have had over the last week or so. Everyone seems to be using their common sense and staying at home, so thank you! Stay at home for us so we can work for you! Much love.. x
22.01.2022 Always love my delivery from Aromance Soaps & More - Locally sourced and made - Toxin free - Vegan options... - Great for newborns and toddlers In the coming weeks I will be putting together postpartum packages that will include some of these products. They will be a great gift idea for new mums and just something to spoil yourself with #supportsmallbusinesses
19.01.2022 Crazy, loud, unapologetically honest and oblivious to the current state of our world. As a mum my job is to protect her and that’s what I will do but that doesn’t mean I am undoubtedly strong and fearless. I worry about where we will be in a few months. I don’t worry about our health and if we will get the Coronavirus because I know our immunity is strong and it will pass, like many other viruses do. What I worry about is humanity and what this current situation will do to ...it. I already see friends with small businesses that are suffering, large corporations taking advantage of the situation and as a nurse I feel the strain of it in the healthcare system too. I see this panic buying and how many can’t even do a regular shop because everyone has stripped the shelves and bought it all before giving others a chance. I don’t want Indy to grow up in a world where others don’t look after one another and fear is stronger than love. I want her to see that we help one another and can think for ourselves and read between the lines. LOVE and TRUTH first and foremost! Remember that yes we should be taking precautions and helping to control this pandemic but do not let this overtake our basic duty to each other of KINDNESS and LOVE. - Stay calm and lots of love to you all xxx See more

17.01.2022 Just a little update on what’s been happening for me. I have started my graduate diploma in Midwifery and loving it! Lots of learning to be done but feeling amazing in the direction I’m heading
12.01.2022 Homebirth ~ ~ Personal, intimate, comforting, familiar, personalised.. they are just few qualities that come to mind when I think of home birth. ~ Unfortunately there are only a few publicly funded homebirth programs but they are some wonderful private midwives that can be hired. Personally I would love that continuity of care. Knowing that your midwife is solely there to focus on you and hold you in your own space, seperate from time-frames or protocols. ~ If you have a lo...w-risk pregnancy or just simply want to birth your baby your way then home birthing is an option that you could consider. ~ Personally it is setting that calls to me, for my first labour i was induced and was subject to hyper stimulation of contractions. I lost control and now looking back can see that it has left some discomfort and disconnection to my experience. ~ This is the space I visualise for my next birth.. in a familiar place, surrounded by loved ones with one on one care with my midwife! @whynothome
12.01.2022 In times like these it’s important to focus on powering up your wellness and immunity. Here are a few of my favourite things that do just that! - Bone broth! Ideally I like to make it but not everyone has the time so this beef bone broth by @nutraorganics is perfect. - Mana Blend is FULL POWER in nutrients using ethically sourced ingredients that nourish mind, body and soul @manablend - Elderberry and Echinacea syrup! An infusion of organic ingredients, made locally and with... love. Studies have been conducted that show Elderberry to have anti-viral and antioxidant properties, perfect for this current health crisis. Made by @aromancesoapsandmore - Turmeric! Full of antioxidants and anti inflammatory compounds. - Garlic - Ginger - Lemon See more

08.01.2022 ~ P L A C E N T A~ The root of your origin. The miraculous organ that shares and protects your life. Uniting a mother and baby...... Did you keep yours? Did you even see yours? Perhaps you encapsulated this beautiful organ like I did and gave thanks to the nutrients it continued to provide even once your baby was earth side. Maybe you buried it to symbolise a new life? What ever you did or didn’t do.. there’s no denying the magick that surrounds this amazing organ

04.01.2022 I know I missed the assigned dates for Birth Trauma Awareness week but this topic deserves year round awareness. Birth trauma can be physical or psychological. It can be subtle or it can be blatantly obvious. It is often pushed aside because at least your baby is here and healthy but we know that birth is so much more than having a healthy baby. ... I once heard a health professional say I read her notes and it didn’t sound that traumatic to me! - I am sorry that if anyone has had to hear that. It’s wrong, it’s disrespectful and it’s not woman-centred care. What can we do for those who have experienced birth trauma? Sometimes listening to their pain is more beneficial than trying to problem-solve. As a society we suck at listening, we can’t just sit with pain as we have this instinct to make it better. However, listening may be more helpful than anything else. Let her tell you her story, hold space for her.. and if you have to say something then let it be that you acknowledge what she has gone through and yes it was horrible. Birth trauma is real and common and mamas I see you! I am here for you. If anyone feels like they need to talk to someone and have their birth story heard feel free to contact me. Love to all xx
