23.01.2022 BOOKS | Its beautiful to look down the hall from the dispensary into Steves room and see all his books. In fact all our treatment rooms have a bookshelf, and every bookshelf is full There are books from China in the 1980s and books published in the last year. There are journals and textbooks, annals and handwritten notes The pursuit of knowledge is endless and fulfilling, to be reminded of all the information within these walls is heartening and yet to consider what s...till remains out there to be discovered is in a sense both humbling and exciting ... luckily for me the perfect place to start might just be my own doorstep @leileiclaveyphotography . . . #herbaldispensary #tcmbooks #rawherbdispensary #dispensary #tcmmelbourne #trustyoursupplier #chinesemedicine #herbalmedicine #acupunctureworks #rawherbs #plantbased #herbalist #theherbgrove #tcmpractitioner #chineseherbalmedicine #tcmherbal #books #traditionalchinesemedicine #tcm #acupuncture #handmademedicine #herballife #topqualityherbs #premiumherbs #AAAgradeherbs #chinesemedicineworks #holisticlifestyle #naturalhealth #acupuncture #tcmstudent See more

19.01.2022 So as some of you would know the last six months has been a period of change for us as a clinic and by extension our dispensary. After 33 years in Russell Street our clinic Apricot Grove became The Grove and has moved to Hawthorn with an expanded dispensary. We still have most of the same herb jars, hand scales, herb trays and staff that we always have, but the space is a little brighter, a little larger and just exactly what we could have hoped for. Were ...pretty proud to show it off! @leileiclaveyphotography . . . #herbs #change #dispensary #chinesemed #tcm #chinesemedicine #acupuncture #theherbgrove #plantbased #herbalmedicine #healing #traditionalchinesemedicine #chineseherbs #health @ The Grove Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture See more

15.01.2022 Steves Formula of the Week | "This Formula is based on the traditional Song Family Gynaecology formula for infertility with scanty periods. The Mai Men Dong works well to increase the amount of menstrual blood, and the strong support for the middle jiao is coupled with the Kidney tonification provided by Tu Su Zi and Gou Qi Zi. The Mei Gui Hua was not in the traditional formula but has been added to lift the patients spirits - infertility can be a depressing time." 14.01.2022 Steve says: "Most of the time, when we think of mouth ulcers we think of heat. And that is true, but there is heat and there is heat. In other words, the heat can be from different causes. I have found that in a suprising number of cases, the heat causing the mouth ulcers is not excess heat but actually displaced heat due to cold in the Stomach, and this type of mouth ulcer responds very well to Li Zhong Wan (Regulate the Middle Pill)." When Steve uses Li Zhong Wan for mouth... ulcers, he will usually use: Chao Dang Shen 10g Chao Gan Jiang 3g Chao Bai Zhu 12g Chao Gan Cao 3g . . . #lizhongwan #mouthulcers #rawherbs #tcm #chinesemedicine #herbalist #herbal #dispensary #naturalmedicine #acupuncture #herbs #natural #traditionalmedicine #plantbased #chineseherbs #wellbeing #heal See more

13.01.2022 S Zh Xing F in preparation: soaked in vinegar, rice wine, honey and ginger tea, then dried in our Easycook oven. Xiang Fu can be used raw, but the "Four Prepared" Xiang Fu enhances its ability to promote the flow of qi, unblock the collaterals, reduce accumulations and alleviate pain. Also raw Xiang Fu has a tendency to exhaust the qi and dry the yin, but these drawbacks are lessened significantly with "Si Zhi Xiang Fu".

07.01.2022 There are a number of moments which define ones direction With close to 50 prepared herbs it is clear that the Herb Grove has a particular focus on Pao Zhi but for all roads there is a reason that road is taken. Steve Clavey recounts this story regarding the value of preparing herbs for patient comfort, something he learnt from his teacher Song Guang-Ji in 1985 and still applies to our dispensary today. An acupuncturist I knew from another hospital came for a consultat...ion. Afterwards I followed her out into the hall to ask her why she came all the way across town to see Professor Song, when her own hospital had a traditional gynaecologist that I had studied with for several months and considered very knowledgeable. "Well frankly," she said, Professor Songs formulas simply feel better in the stomach." This story was published in The Lantern, Volume XII, Issue: 1 in the article Song Shi Fu Ke: A 1200-year-old gynaecological lineage. . . . #paozhi #herbalmedicine #tcm #chinesemedicine #rawherbs #traditionalmedicine #acupuncture #naturalmedicine #herbalist #herbs #traditional #natural #plantbased #wellbeing #health #healing #china

07.01.2022 Preparing Lotus Nodes O Ji () or Lin Ji () is an excellent if mild herb for stopping bleeding while also removing blood stagnation; to stop bleeding it is best if charred. It is mild enough to use in pregnancy if there is bleeding due to blood stasis. But even if you want to use it raw, it should be cleaned first, because--since lotus grows in mud--the nodes as purchased from your herb wholesaler are usually quite dirty.... So you want to at least rinse it a number of times until the rinse water runs clear, and then dry it. But if you are going to dry it, you might as well go that little bit further and char it, and get the full haemostatic effect. Here at the Herb Grove, we often use an Australian invention for our pao zhi, an oven called Easycook. All self-contained in a small area, it is usually working six hours a day while we are dispensing scripts.

07.01.2022 Books books books a good dispensary is full of books, and of course the best herb books are usually the size of a small car . . . #pharmacopeia #reading #herbalist #tcm #dispensary #chinesemedicine #traditionalmedicine #materiamedica #rawherbs #chineseherbs #natural #naturalmedicine #wellbeing #healing #herbs #herbalmedicine

07.01.2022 We prepare our Lai Fu Zi (Semen Raphani) in a wok, dry frying the seeds until they are dark brown in colour. For internal use Lai Fu Zi should almost always be dry-fried, unprepared Lai Fu Zi causes vomiting and is used specifically for emesis Here is a detailed explanation of Lai Fu Zis tcm applications. You can find detailed explanations like these including properties, channels, key characteristics, the effects of pao zhi and Steves additional notes for the more t...han 370 herbs in our dispensary by visiting the Herb Grove website. Properties: acrid, sweet, neutral Channels: Lungs, Spleen, Stomach Key Characteristics: Transforms phlegm, reduces food stagnation, promotes the flow of qi in the Lungs, Spleen and Large Intestine. Additional Notes: Be aware that this herb has a penetrating odour that is very noticeable, so patients may need to be warned that they may turn heads if carrying it home. Small doses(3-6g) are sufficient. . . . #tcm #paozhi #herbalist #dispensary #chinesemedicine #chineseherbs #acupuncture #traditionalchinesemedicine #alternativemedicine #naturalmedicine #herbalmedicine #herbal #wellness #plantbased #healing #qi #herbs See more

04.01.2022 One of the joys of raw herbs is the cooking process Watching your own prescription of barks, seeds, roots, flowers(etc) simmering away in their clay pot to become your healing for the week. Its such a different experience to taking a pre-manufactured medicine In this modern world of production lines where efficiency comes above all else, its not surprising the comfort one can feel from controlling a process from start to finish . . . #healing #herbalmedicine #chinesemedicine #herbalist #herbaldecoction #rawherbs #theherbgrove #tcm #dispensary #herbal #acupuncture #natural #naturalmedicine #heal
