How about taking a trip to the Lyell Deer Sanctuary which a small herd of rescued deer call home It’s a great way to keep the kiddies entertained that is relatively local and you don’t want to spend a fortune... The sanctuary is located at Mount Samson and entry is only $10 per family group (and a couple of bucks if you want to feed the deer) with proceeds helping to keep this sanctuary up and running Also visitors are welcome to bring a picnic as there’s a great shaded seating area with toys and chooks wandering around! Open weekends 10am-4pm and weekdays (Mon, Tues & Fri) by appointment.

Unfortunately, in light of the current health crisis, this annual community festival has had to be postponed this year. 12.01.2022 Got any recyclable containers lying around? The Grovely-Mitchelton Scouts would love to receive them! Like many community groups Covid, hasn’t been kind to the Scouts with key fundraising activities having to be put on the back burner. This has made their ‘Cash for Containers’ fundraising initiative really important for raising revenue to support on-going costs of resources, such as hiking and camping equipment, water sports (canoe/ kayak) which allows the group to provid...e outdoor experiences for its youth members.
