22.01.2022 Message from the Mayor: Progress continues on the widening of Hezlett Road Progress continues to be made on the upgrade and widening of Hezlett Road. Stage 1 of this project involves the section of road fronting North Kellyville Public School. This is a complicated section of work due to the volume and location of underground services, including water, telecommunications and gas, that need to be managed or relocated to maintain services. ... A temporary lane has been constructed in front of the school to keep the road open for two-way traffic and allow the movement of heavy vehicles. Over the coming weeks, unavoidable night works will take place to adjust and commission the new water main. Following this, traffic using the temporary lane will be switched to a newly constructed traffic lane. Preliminary works have also begun to upgrade the intersection of Hezlett Road/Samantha Riley Drive/James Mileham Drive to prepare for the installation of traffic signals. Temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented in this area based on construction requirements, including the removal of the roundabout at the intersection of Hezlett Road and Samantha Riley Drive. A new temporary roundabout, which will be located in the northern portion of the intersection (towards the corner where the McDonald’s is located) will be in working order from Thursday. The placement of concrete barriers and line marking will also be carried out as part of this location of work. This will allow critical service utility relocations to commence. Council thanks road users and residents for their patience and urges people to follow roadwork speed limits, observe directions from traffic controllers and be aware of changing conditions. Pedestrians are also advised to take care to avoid any trip hazards. Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne

Preliminary work such as site compound setup, surveying and service utility searches has commenced. Roadwork will commence on 28 September 2020 and the anticipated duration of work is 12 months, subject to favourable weather a...nd timely completion of works by service utility authorities. 07.01.2022 *************Mayor's Message - Australia Day ************** Our Aussie spirit continues to shine bright even through the darkest of times, and we’ve been through many these past months. We’ve had to cancel events, including our Australia Day Concert at The Farm, as well as change and amend our processes and regulations to keep in line with the Public Health Orders that are currently in place. ... While we cannot be together at Bella Vista Farm, I still encourage residents to celebrate Australia Day in their own respective way. Here at Council, we will be thanking our outstanding citizens who have gone above and beyond the call of duty at our Australia Day Awards on January 20. This will be followed by a Citizenship Ceremony, which is planned to go ahead on January 26. We’ve invited 72 people to attend this very special ceremony, and I look forward to welcoming our newest Aussie citizens on our nation’s day. Adding to this, The Hills Shire will come alive with music and culture. Local artists are being given the opportunity to activate parts of our Shire thanks to the NSW Government's Festival of Place - Summer Fund. This is a wonderful way to celebrate Australia Day and support live music in a dynamic and safe setting. Keep an eye out for details of who will be performing and where, closer to the date. And Rotary will be hosting a number of flag raising events as part of festivities. I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding in what has been an extremely difficult time. I look forward to celebrating Australia Day in a safe and meaningful way, and I encourage residents to also do the same. Please keep up the good work, and still practice good hygiene and social distancing.
