12.01.2022 A quiet day in the gallery is happily spent on our personal Landcare Project. The laneway next to the gallery and beside the nature reserve has an estimated 3000 Agapanthus which we are determined to remove. With appreciated advice and encouragement from Sophie Small and Kate Lockhart of Bellarine Landcare, and Richard Weatherly OAM artist, author and naturalist I am making headway, with about 750 removed so far. Together we have discovered at least 7 valued Indigenous plan...ts and grasses buried beneath and within this strip of land, including the beautiful and hard to propagate Cranberry Heath, Astroloma humifusum. This ties in beautifully to the current exhibition upstairs, "Entropy" with Indigenous Grasses used in Pattie Beerens pots, offsetting the paintings by Linda Gallus of a degrading farmhouse on the Bellarine. With some help can nature regain the upper hand on the Bellarine? Thank you to artists Linda Gallus & Pattie Beerens and author Philomena Manifold for their time and talent and all our community of creative appreciators. ENTROPY runs throughout February and The Hive is open Friday to Sunday 10-4pm or by appointment. Come and consider the history in our earth and man's mark on it as you appreciate the paintings by Linda Gallus of "White F...arm" a historical wool property on the Bellarine, now degrading slowly but surely and returning to the earth.
