Make your players forget the notion of dominant / non dominant sides by helping them achieve full symmetry and confidence in the way they control their movements. . A good way to assess how symmetrical the body control of a junior athlete is is this outside foot finish drill.... . By going outside foot, players are going against a different momentum than what they are used to. Add game-like constraints (action moves / different types of hand finish etc). It’s also a very deceptive way to beat a defender. . 19.01.2022 FINGERS & FOREARMS - . Two completely overlooked body parts when it comes to basketball conditioning. . At any age or level, strong fingers and forearms will bring higher quality handles, stronger grip and passing, better catching and ball control and more resistance to those annoying jarred fingers injuries.... . Those exercises are really easy to setup and only require basketballs as equipment. Micro dribbles are used to build strength, stamina and micro-movements control while working on parts of the hands and wrists that are often neglected. . Keys to a good micro dribble: . - Control over speed. - Minimal loss of contact with the ball between dribbles. - The ball bounces approximatively 1 inch off the ground. - Dribbling arm is extended to isolate the forearm and hand muscles. - The non dribbling arm remains active. - Once control is established, work on speed. . Note that I am adding two extra elements to maximise workout time: . - 90 degrees stance hold to build basketball specific lower body strength. - Shoes off for feet balance and strength work. . Aim for good quality 15 or 30 secs sets of each variation and increase by 15 secs until you can hold a fast, controlled micro dribble for one full minute. . WORK! .
