25.01.2022 Biodiversity in Hornsby. Daniel's Friday photo. "Sundews are a group of small carnivorous herbs possessing special adaptations for trapping and digesting insects presumably to be an evolutionary response to growth in waterlogged soils deficient in nitrogen. The Drosera pictured (either D. peltata or D. auriculata) grows in a bed of moist moss in a hanging swamp off Tunks Ridge."

25.01.2022 Exquisite photo thank you for documenting the beauty all around us Daniel Burkhardt

22.01.2022 It doesn’t happen without the Greens

21.01.2022 Look who is at the Hornsby Library! No not really! Thanks anyway to our super Hornsby Greens Councillor Joseph Nicita for the update .

20.01.2022 If we don't protect our trees and enhance the tree canopy, Hornsby’s urban forest could be significantly diminished within the next 40 years.

20.01.2022 Greens Deputy Mayor of Albury, Amanda Cohn, making sure her Council has tough emissions targets. Awesome work, Amanda

19.01.2022 Wooohooo! This is a huge win for university students! Amazing work by Senator Mehreen Faruqi

18.01.2022 Mehreen is naming names!

14.01.2022 What a lovely view on a lovely day!

14.01.2022 Queensland voting Greens

13.01.2022 This makes me so mad@! ***Grrr Because it was so obvious to Hornsby Greens back in 2017 when the NSW Government relaxed landclearing laws that it would lead to more land clearing. https://www.theguardian.com//australia-the-only-developed-

13.01.2022 Another excellent observation from our wonderful Hornsby Greens councillor Emma Heyde. Politics starts local....

09.01.2022 Queensland elections are 31 October. Candidates like Kirsten Lovejoy - Greens for McConnel and Amy MacMahon, Greens for South Brisbane will make incredible Greens MPs

09.01.2022 This sort of thinking is going to be crucial moving forward. It's also great to know we're already doing some of them with our street trees and parks!

09.01.2022 Have Hornsby cockies learnt this trick yet?

07.01.2022 #alwayswasalwayswillbe

07.01.2022 Telling it like it is with passion and principle. Go Justine Smillie - you will make an amazing councillor in September 2021

06.01.2022 Woohooo! Congrats Canberra on voting six Greens

06.01.2022 2020 Aussie Backyard Bird Count results are in! Most spotted birds in NSW: 1. Rainbow Lorikeet 2. Noisy Miner 3. Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo... That lines up with what we're seeing around Hornsby. Did other parts of the shire have a different top 3?

05.01.2022 Any ideas for a COVID safe venue for our next Green Tea in Hornsby Shire? Preferably near transport...and coffee!

05.01.2022 Senator Richard Di Natale has done so much to make this a fairer, more compassionate and more sustainable Australia for everyone. He will be missed!

03.01.2022 Does anyone know what this is? I don't know if it is just me or La Nina rain but even small patches of our Hornsby bush seem to be full of miracles.

03.01.2022 What do I think of the big Herald story about Hornsby Shire Council? Basically we have been screwed over repeatedly. Our Council now looks bad because of appall...ing decisions by the Liberal state government. And I seriously resent that. First they tried to forcibly amalgamate Hornsby with Ku-ring-gai Council. That failed. Secondly they gave all the area south of the M2 to benefit Parramatta Council which meant Hornsby ratepayers lost $260 million. Thirdly, Gladys Berejiklian promised not leave Hornsby residents worse off -- and has never delivered. And lastly, the $90 million they have given Hornsby Council has been revealed by Greens MP David Shoebridge to be a seriously dodgy transaction with Gladys Berejiklian's office shredding documents about the money. Three more comments from me: 1. The Hornsby Shire Council executive team led by the General Manager have made strenuous efforts over three years in advocating for Hornsby Shire Council not to be left ‘worse off’ by the boundary change. They have wasted untold hours trying to get what was promised so Council could plan and deliver better services for all of us. They should be commended for trying to do the right thing by ratepayers and making the premier come good on her promise. She never did. 2. The deliberate shredding and deletion of government records is not consistent with the obligations of public authorities to maintain records under the State Records Act. All future funding schemes for local councils MUST be publicly notified, transparent, merit-based and fair. 3. This whole debacle has done serious reputational damage to Hornsby Shire Council. And that's the thing I resent the most. The state government and Premier must be held accountable for the whole huge mess. The Liberals tout themselves as 'good economic managers'. What a joke! The 20 councils amalgamated by the NSW Government have so far lost $1.03 billion over three years, including Parramatta City Council, which has lost $113.5 million in productivity. A disaster for ratepayers across the state, and that includes all of us in Hornsby Shire. Read the Herald article ... and weep
