21.01.2022 We are excited to share yesterdays announcement by The Australian Government in support of all international students. The Australian Government is making a number of changes to student visa arrangements to ensure Australia remains a priority destination for international students as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. These five visa changes will ensure international students are not worse off due to the coronavirus pandemic and that Australia remains competitive with ot...her countries. The changes include: 1. The Government will recommence granting student visas in all locations lodged outside Australia. This means when borders re-open, students will already have visas and be able to make arrangements to travel. 2. International students will be able to lodge a further student visa application free of charge, if they are unable to complete their studies within their original visa validity due to COVID-19. 3. Student visa holders studying online outside Australia due to COVID-19 will be able to use that study to count towards the Australian study requirement for a post-study work visa. 4. Graduates who held a student visa will be eligible to apply for a post-study work visa outside Australia if they are unable to return due to COVID-19. 5. Additional time will be given for applicants to provide English language results where COVID-19 has disrupted access to these services. For additional information please visit the official link to the Hon. Acting Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs Alan Tudge.

19.01.2022 Showcasing our high achievers from The Hotel School, we sat down with Hugh Knowles, one of the numerous shining stars currently studying the Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management and asked him about his future aspirations. Hugh came from Wagga Wagga Christian College and has contributed so much to our alumni and The Hotel School Sydney campus. A trip to InterContinental Melbourne in Business Studies grade 11 made me first think about pursuing a career in hotels. The Hotel... School, with their Southern Cross University partnership and high rating statistics, gave me the trust in the international recognition for their degree. The connection to industry, availability of services, connections, travel and personalised uni experience were also contributing factors in my decision to study at The Hotel School. I have enjoyed trips to Singapore and Sanctuary Cove, industry insights, presentations of HR coordinators and representing the uni at events and exhibitions. I love the feeling of being in a big family. My study is a business degree, so I am not locked into just hotels, I can go into the tourism, business or travel sectors too. I plan to move home to complete my internship, given the current environment with travel restrictions. I hope to be the Front Office Manager at the Holiday Inn Wagga Wagga for my internship and progress after I graduate. When I graduate, I firstly want to celebrate finishing, and then save to buy a house or two. The opportunities are endless for when I finish. I want to apply and complete the IHG Future Leaders Program to fast track my career. In terms of my career, my ultimate career ambition is to become the Regional General Manager for InterContinental Hotels Group. I will achieve this by hopefully working my way up to General Manager at Wagga Wagga Holiday Inn, then Area General Manager based out of this property and finally to Regional General Manager. Essentially I will start with my internship as Front Office Manager and work my way up.
