23.01.2022 SOURDOUGH GODS: You can only pick two - aesthetically pleasing loaf // great flavour // perfect crumb Today in the bread lotto we got great flavour and perfect crumb (hence the macro shot ) Ye old faithful @tartinebakery country sourdough recipe with @cookrepublic spin - turmeric, caramelised onion and nigella seeds. I gave this dough a little too much love during bulk + a lengthy stay in the fridge = slightly overproofed the harsh realities of trying to fit baking into your life and not the other way around. Still very tasty though, will definitely make again

14.01.2022 Being vocal about 2020 and how it’s affected me has felt like a pointless exercise. Let’s face it, this year hasn’t really panned out the way many of us would have hoped for. In May, after 5 years of working a home garage, I took the leap and made a commitment to a 150 square meter, old mechanic workshop. There were huge, scary and exciting ideas - to renovate, put in a mind-blowing kitchen and transform this dirty, decrepit shell into a dream space I could share with othe...r creatives. Instead, due to Melbourne’s harsh AF COVID restrictions, I’ve barely been able to be on site. It’s hard, when your plans crash and burn. It’s OK to mourn the dreams that didn’t even get off the starting line. But it’s also important to just keep putting one foot in front of the other, make small, positive (inexpensive ) changes each day. Because one day you’ll look back and be bloody impressed with yourself and the life you’ve breathed into a project despite the odds. Time to thank my family and friends who have given a socially-distant hug and supportive words. My beautiful clients who kept the work (and my spirit) flowing while also being generous with expectations and timeframes. For the small, surprise deliveries that were bigger than the kind souls who sent them ever imagined. Everyone is getting a bottle of tequila this year, let’s drink to the shit times and the better times ahead #cheers @ The Hungry Babushka See more

12.01.2022 Tried out a hot, little tip from @carolinagelen about how to make super, SUPER smooth hommus If you’re a dirty stop out and use tin chickpeas like me (YOLO) boil them for 45 mins before you blitz them with all the other hommusy goodness. Boil those babies until they’re mush, toss in some aromats if you please, trust her on this one
