22.01.2022 New migration agreements to benefit South Australia South Australian employers will benefit from the pending introduction of two Designated Area Migration Agreements. The Government of South Australia is currently finalising the details of the Designated Area Migration Agreements with the Australian Department of Home Affairs. The Designated Area Migration Agreements will enable South Australian employers to sponsor skilled overseas workers for positions they are unable to fi...ll with local workers. The Designated Area Migration Agreements will provide access to additional occupations and concessions to the standard migration program. South Australias Designated Area Migration Agreements will utilise the labour agreement stream of the Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482). Businesses will enter into a labour agreement with the Australian Government and workers will then be granted a subclass 482 visa. As the Agreements are an employer-sponsored visa program, individual workers cannot apply for a visa independently. South Australias Designated Area Migration Agreements are: Adelaide Technology and Innovation Advancement Agreement which focuses on Adelaides high-tech growth industries including defence, space, technology and advanced manufacturing industries. South Australian Regional Workforce Agreement which focuses on the South Australias regional high growth industries including agribusiness, forestry, health and social services, tourism and hospitality, construction and mining. The key aims of South Australias Designated Area Migration Agreements are to provide: pathways to permanent residency for visa holders in most occupations listed a wider range of occupations that reflect skilled and semi-skilled shortages in South Australia, with no caveats to apply English language concessions for some occupations Salary concessions in relevant occupations that reflect South Australias market rates, ensuring that worker terms and conditions of employment are not eroded Increased age-limit for selected occupations. In developing the Designated Area Migration Agreements, the Government of South Australia has consulted with a range of stakeholders in the industries covered by the Designated Area Migration Agreements. The Government of South Australia will continue to consult with employers as the Designated Area Migration Agreements are implemented. It is expected the Designated Area Migration Agreements will be rolled out over the next few months. Source: https://migration.sa.gov.au/news-events/news-releases/2948

12.01.2022 Australia is closing its borders to all non-citizens and non-residents. The entry ban takes effect from 9pm AEDT Friday, 20 March 2020, with exemptions only for Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family, including spouses, legal guardians and dependants. New Zealand citizens who live in Australia as Australian residents are also exempt, as are New Zealanders transiting to New Zealand. Exemptions for Pacific Islanders transiting to their home countrie...s will continue to apply. Australian citizens and permanent residents and those exempt from our entry restrictions will continue to be subject to a strict 14 days self-isolation. Our number one priority is to slow the spread of coronavirus to save lives. Our government has taken this unprecedented step because around 80 per cent of coronavirus cases in Australia are people who caught the virus overseas before entering Australia, or people who have had a direct contact with someone who has returned from overseas. Our previous travel and entry restrictions have already meant that daily travel to Australia by non-citizens has been reduced to about one third of what it was this time last year. We also strongly urge Australians looking to return home to do so as soon as possible. This follows our upgraded travel advice for all Australians not to travel overseas, at all. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will provide consular advice and assistance, but the capacity for DFAT to provide consular services may be limited by local restrictions on movement, as well as the full scale of the challenges posed by coronavirus. Australians who cannot, or do not want to, return home should follow the advice of local authorities and minimise their risk of coronavirus exposure by self-isolating. The government is in discussions with airlines about the continuance of some international flights for the purpose of bringing Australians home and continuing the movement of goods and freight. These challenges vary and the situation is changing rapidly. Our government will continue to act on the best available information to keep Australians safe. 11.01.2022 The new Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Subclass 482 visa is similar in concept to the 457 visa although different in a number of important ways. If it is not mandatory to undertake a skills assessment, you are still required to provide other evidence to demons...trate that you meet these requirements. This may include, but is not limited to: - a copy of relevant qualification certificates (professional and educational) - a copy of any required registration/licensing - previous employment references - your curriculum vitae or resumé - previous employment references. In addition, all primary TSS visa applicants need to demonstrate that they have two years' work experience in the nominated occupation or a related field.
