24.01.2022 Yesterday we welcomed our Board of Directors onsite to help us celebrate our end of year staff event. Our President Mary Verschuer was delighted to present some staff awards from our annual Staff Excellence Awards. The awards were announced in May this year but with COVID restrictions we could not celebrate in person. Congrats to all those who won an award this year.

18.01.2022 This week (8-14 November) is the 15th annual PANDA (Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia) Week, which raises awareness about perinatal anxiety and depression. The Infants’ Home’s postnatal home visiting and telehealth service can provide help for parents experiencing postnatal challenges. Our Child and Family Health Nurses can provide information, support and referrals to assist with issues including sleep, settling, feeding and parental mental health and wellbeing. This has provided them with many opportunities to learn about fires and fire safety, and they are ready to begin exploring how to use the fire pit for preparing food. These have included: making a bird’s nest and a dinosaur shelter using natural, found, open-ended resources; learning about animals and meeting a gentle pet cat; reading and learning about the Bittangabee Tribe from Coastal NSW; and playing music and movement games. The group, which is co-facilitated by our Occupational Therapist Lisa and a Murray House centre educator, uses the story The Colour Monster to inspire discussions and experiences related to feelings and how to manage these.
