24.01.2022 Sometimes I wish we could all just free ourselves from this culture of dieting, body shaming and obsession with the way women’s bodies should look. We have a choice though, every single day. We can choose to unburden ourselves from the weight of diet culture. We can do so by starting to identify the ways in which women are receiving unhealthy messages about their bodies and protect ourselves from their influence. We can seek the support of a skilled counsellor or health pra...ctitioner to unpack the unhelpful critical voices in our head, elevate or consciousness around body shame and food shame, protect ourselves with boundaries and to rewire our neural pathways for more optimal believes. Let’s start to cultivate a shift in the culture, starting with ourselves!

23.01.2022 Today I caught myself being overwhelmed and over stretched. I felt tension building up in my body and couldn’t think clearly. Ever feel this way? ... What I love about EFT Tapping is that you can change the way you feel quickly and efficiently. Just 5 mins of tapping on acupressure points on my face and body calmed my whole nervous system and I was able to recognise what I needed. 21.01.2022 Hello December! Wow, what a year! I don’t know about you but I usually get to the beginning of December and I start to feel the stress levels increasing. I start thinking about the kids breaking up for 7-8 weeks and how to keep them off the screens. I think about unfinished work and my to do list. I stress about Christmas and getting gifts on time. I feel my heart racing every time I go out in the car because the traffic starts to build up as everyone heads out to Westfield t...o shop up a storm! I’m thinking this year - screw all of that! It’s been a challenging and anxiety provoking year for so many people globally. Do we really need to put ourselves under the pump this December. This month here at The Inner Shine Clinic, I will gently reminding you and myself, that’s its super important to take the pressure off ourselves this year and to not sweat the small stuff. 20.01.2022 Did you know that the word worry is rooted in the Old English wyrgan, meaning strangle which is kind of what worry does to us when we let it take over our lives. I know only too well that it’s so difficult to gain clarity and insight about our situation when we are right in the middle of a worrying time. The future seems uncertain and that can make you feel a bit out of control so instead of racing to the future, start to focus on what you can control today. Worrying doe...sn’t help you to solve problems but you may ask How am I supposed to worry less?’ Here’s some tips: 1. Calm the nervous systems with some EFT Tapping check out my website to learn more about the tapping points 2. Notice when you’re worrying and any beliefs that reinforce worry awareness gives you more choice in how you respond 3. Learn to embrace uncertainty 4. I found my purpose, I created a successful business and I finally found the courage to say goodbye to a relationship that hurt my soul. ... You can choose to see this as a time of rebirthing, growing and expanding where you are willing to co-create a new world where we all feel safe and that we belong. When you start to heal you start to notice: more observing, less judging, more responding, less reacting. ... More self love, less self sabotage. More boundaries, less resentments. 17.01.2022 If we were all to sit down and go to town on all the things that have sucked about this year, we could create a big list, couldn’t we? I missed my big brother’s wedding in New Zealand and felt sad and a bit mad that I couldn’t be there for his big day. After a bit of tapping I could shift that sadness and frustration into gratitude that my parents could be there to support my brother and happiness at seeing the photos and knowing it had been a glorious day. ... I’m frustrated I can’t go home for Christmas again as this time last year I just had a cancer diagnosis and needed major surgery quite quickly but I’m so grateful I won’t be ill these holidays and that I can enjoy my children. What I find so powerful about using EFT Tapping as a stress reduction tool, is that we get to acknowledge the truth of how we feel and then we have the opportunity to release the negative emotions and rewire our brain for more optimal feelings and beliefs. Even though it feels as though there’s so many troubles to complain about right now, today I choose to offer thanks for the troubles I don’t have. I don’t have to worry about having a roof over my head. I’m not separated from my children. I’m not sick with cancer any more. I am happy, I am whole, I am healing, I am enough and I choose to be stress free today.

I’ve spent time today chatting with my teenage daughter about RBG's legacy and listening deeply to the impact her life force and brilliance has had on my eldest. ... I ask myself constantly what I asked my daughter today and now I am asking you, WHAT WILL YOU STAND FOR? What if you were courageous enough to step into your personal power and stand up as a human of deep conviction as RBG did? Listen for the noises that tell you you not strong enough, I’m not like her, I can’t do it. What’s getting in your way from being the best version of yourself. It’s time to dissolve all the blocks and step up into the arena of your beautiful life! Thank you, thank you RBG for all you have done for woman and we will rise you continue the work.

The limiting belief that something is in the way and that we can’t see where we are going blocks us from seeing what is possible and how far we can go. Then tapping through the points..top of the head I can’t see my way through this but it’s ok.eyebrow I just don’t know what’s ahead, ...side of eye but I choose to feel safe and calm, ..under the eye and trust in the process, .under the nose I don’t need to worry, I can just take one step in front of the other, ..chin, ‘even if I can’t see the future.collarbone I choose to go as far as I can see,.under the arm and when I get there, I will be able to see further, ...top of the head I just need to go as far as I can see and that’s enough, as so it is, peace.

In the 14 years I’ve been working in the mental health space, I’ve sadly come to realise that so many people worry about sharing their mental health truths with friends and family let alone their employer for fear it could result in being overlooked for a promotion or experiencing stigma a...nd discrimination in the workplace. I know that speaking up about mental health is hard but it’s time to change that and to feel encouraged to become proactive about your mental health. If you are currently struggling with your mental wellbeing, reach out and stay connected this month for some support, hope and inspiration. If someone close to you is struggling, here are some of the most important tips for supporting them when they open up to you about their mental health: 1. Listen don’t make assumptions or jump to conclusions 2. Believe them don’t shrug it off, judge or dismiss 3. Don’t treat them any differently they are the same person you know with some extra struggles 4. Ask how you can help 5.
