24.01.2022 Happy Hump Day I just 'whipped' this room up today, using Designfiles. A continuation of the modern country look, I have put together a quiet reading nook in the corner of a hallway. 24.01.2022 One last design board inspired by my love of Jacaranda. This time a purple and lavender themed dining space. Who would have thought purple could fit so beautifully in so many design situations? The key is to choose an accent colour but not over-indulge in its use. Focus on pops of colour in your chosen colour and layer with different shades and textures. When you apply correct design rules, no colour is off limits! If you want help, get in touch. Hope you have a lovely weeke...nd. We are heading away for a weekend at the beach with friends. Can't wait! 23.01.2022 Happy Moodboard Monday Today I am feeling like a bit of Modern Country, inspired by memories of summer holidays in Europe. Every year or two my family and I take four weeks in the middle of the year and travel to Europe. In recent times we have been lucky enough to time it so that we could meet up with my parents, who were holidaying in beautiful France.... One of the attractions of sending the boys to a British based school in Jakarta was that they have their big break midyear (unlike Australia where we have our 6 week break in December and January which is our summer). I had all sorts of plans for June/July this year! Four weeks in France, 2 weeks in the UK including some time in Scotland visiting sites from Outlander, and a week in Denmark/Sweden. Sadly, thanks to Covid, the closest I am going to get to Europe this year is through moodboards like this Ax #moodboards #moodboard #moodboardmonday #moderncountry #moderncountryliving #moderncountryinteriors #moderncountrydecor #countryinteriors #countrydecor #countryinspiration #countryinspo #idistudent #edesign #edesigner

17.01.2022 A taste of Modern Australian design today. Do you like it? Often people associate the colours of the sun or ocean with Australia, but I also absolutely love our more muted, 'bush' palette. These greens are just beautiful. Modern Australian style is a relatively new style, but growing in popularity. It is based on minimalist principles and embraces natural timbers, muted colours, and an indoor/outdoor approach to design. It is simple, clean but also warm.... Let me know your thoughts and if you have a particular style you like. X

17.01.2022 Three D (3d) Render Tuesday I have been busy lately with my studies and finishing off a few projects so haven't had as much time as I would like to work on imagining the decor of #ourjakartahouse . Over the weekend I had a bit of time to try out some new software and used that as an opportunity to revisit the upstairs casual living space. What do you think? Before we left Jakarta, I had put in lots of bookshelves, so thought a table behind the sofa would be a great idea fo...r placing books and magazines. #designfiles #designtools #3drender #idistudent #casualstyle #familyroomdecor #livingroom

16.01.2022 #wishlistwednesday and following the Jacaranda coloured theme... I recently stumbled upon the beautiful work of French designer and architect, @indiamahdavi . Normally I try to get to Paris once every year or two to visit family and friends although this year has made it impossible! ... Still, with a new Covid vaccine looking very promising, I am starting to have hope that we will get there next year. If I do, I will definitely be heading to #indiamahdavi to look through her beautiful pieces. #moodboards #moodboard #purpledecor #interiordecorating

16.01.2022 Many years ago I was fortunate enough to spend a week in beautiful Morocco, driving between modern Agadir and the historic Marrakech. The beautiful interiors resonated with me - so luxurious, warm and calming all at once. Trying out a new design program yesterday (designfiles) I decided to take inspiration from that holiday for my newest Moodboard. Hope you enjoy it. As always, if you are keen for me to do a particular styled Moodboard, let me know ... #morocco #moroccanstyle #moodboards #moodboard #designfiles #interiordesigneraustralia #edesigner #edesign #moroccandecor #moroccanlivingroom #moroccanlivingroominspo #idistudent #interiordesigninstitute

14.01.2022 Exciting day! My new Dulux Fandeck arrived, as did my Colours of Australia Fandeck!! My boys keep wanting to look at all the beautiful colours but I don't trust their little hands... #dulux #duluxpaint #fandeck #colourchart #colorchart #worldofcolor #worldofcolour #designtools

14.01.2022 Fallingwater, Pennsylvania, USA. Easily one of my favourite examples of mid-century modern architecture and on my architectural bucket list! Designed for a very wealthy local family, the design was created by Frank Lloyd Wright, who described his work as 'organic modern'. Typical of the style, the focus is on low, horizontal lines, with large outdoor and indoor living spaces designed to blur the lines between outdoors and indoors. Built over a stream and waterfall, this hou...se even includes a trap door in the living room floor leading down to the stream. It as though the house has been carved out of the stones. A bit of architectural history for a Sunday morning! 10.01.2022 Today was sports carnival day at my sons' school and exhausting not just for the kids, but also us parents who volunteered As I was shepherding children to the various events I noticed for the first time the number of beautiful Jacaranda trees that surround the school. Our boys are so lucky to get to learn in such a beautiful environment. #jacarandaseason #jacaranda

09.01.2022 When I was doing some research for my (Canadian) Coastal Style project (check out my blog for more information), I came across a really interesting substyle of the Coastal phenomenon - California Coastal. The main difference that I could discern was the use of green, rather than a focus on blue. Since I absolutely love decorating with green, I thought I would whip together a California Coastal Moodboard and see how it looks. Please forgive the black frames on the painting, b...ut I just loved the artwork. In the real world, I would use a white or pale wooden frame. Anyway, are there any Californian followers here. What do you think? Is this a common look you would see? #californianstyle #californiacoastal #californiainteriordesign #californiainteriors #coastaldesign #coastalinspo #coastalinteriors #idistudent

02.01.2022 Happy first day of Spring for all my Australian followers! For everyone else, did you know that the black swan is a symbol of Western Australia? In fact, we even named are main river after them, calling it The Swan River. On my daily walk yesterday I came across this pair (they mate for life) having a nice relaxing morning swim.
