25.01.2022 The results of the 2020 Official International Women's Day Open judging are as follows: 8. Outstanding dedication and achievement in Nursing Elise Sawyer Elise has taken the nursing profession to a whole new level. Elise Sawyer in an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Clinical Nurse Consultant at Gold Coast University Hospital. IBD is a chronic, debilitating auto-immune disease and this is why Elise is passionate about improving the quality of life and disease outcomes for in...dividuals with IBD. Elise has presented at international and domestic conferences, had articles published in international journals and reinvigorated the QLD IBD Nurses Group Meetings. She has secured funding to increase the number of staff in her department and supported the Live Fearless Challenge raising funds for Chron’s Disease and Colitis. Elise is passionate about supporting women with IBD during their childbearing years, advocating for accessible information and support for women pre-, during and post-pregnancy. Elise is currently studying to become an IBD Nurse Practitioner and soon to welcome her first child in July. 25.01.2022 The results of the 2020 Official International Women's Day Open judging are as follows: 2020 Overall Inspirational Leadership Award Winner Graziella Thake Graziella is a global citizen, having lived in seven different countries by the time she was ten years of age. Graziella’s achievements are based on her father’s teaching her during her time in India, that ‘despite living on one side of the street, she was responsible for those living on the other side of the street too’.... She is currently the CEO of The Optimisation Hub, an internationally recognised speaker, author of a world-first book in a day project which involved collaboration by twelve corporations. She is on the board of the Global Dialogue Foundation ( GDF)( UNAOC ) United nations alliance of civilisations organisation and also has board experience on both not for profits and in many sectors having spoken at the United nations at a young age on learning how to learn memory formation and a need for a change in education and several community organisations. Graziella has 27 years solid experience leading teams in the fields of mental health and leadership. Having worked with change and development in over 22 multinational organisations, twelve sports and spent time as a facilitator and global speaker for corporate, government, community and sporting organisations, Graziella’s dedication to high-performance and resilience education for individuals and teams is a valuable asset. Her focus is on enabling and empowering youth and young women to access pathways to success both in Australia and internationally. Graziella’s focus is sport education and redirecting our current challenge in mental health with prevention-based education by teaching resilience through workshops with school leaders, sportsmen and women. As part of her submission, Graziella concluded that My passion is to change education. If we could change education and bring it up to speed with where we are now, we can deal with world issues. We need to equip children with resilience emotional technology for the world they live in.

Outstanding achievement in the sporting industry Fiona Lee Coppin Fiona is actively involved in the sporting industry professionally and in the community, locally and nationally. As Director of Fine Day Trust and Engage Sports International Pty Ltd, a sports consultancy business, and Fig and Fi, an online fashion and homeware business, she has been actively involved in the development... and implementation of the Coach Developer Pilot for the Gold Coast City Council and the Australian Sports Commission. Fiona has also delivered the Good Sports and Healthy Eating Programs to sports in the southern Gold Coast and northern NSW. She is also a passionate volunteer supporting Disability Surfing, Make A Wish Foundation, a Disability Dance Choir volunteer and a surf lifesaver and coach. Fiona’s proudest achievement is playing sport with her children and now watching her grandchildren playing sport. See more

Outstanding achievement in Hospitality and Tourism Tracey Welton Tracey is the Owner and Event Manager at Austinvilla Estate in Mudgeeraba. Tracey purchased Coolalinga Lodge and renovated the property for 18 months before opening its doors and rebranding as Austinvilla Estate. This once derelict venue is now used for weddings, conferences, special events, accommodation bookings, tour... groups, educational groups, yoga retreats, workshops, product launches, sporting and recreational groups. Austinvilla Estate now employs up to ten staff and has been recognised as one of the best wedding venues in QLD. Tracey prioritised creating a sustainable workplace for both staff and guests, ensuring staff and guest feedback is always acted upon to improve service. She has created a fun working environment and Tracey and her staff goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest’s needs are catered for, especially with those with a disability. Tracey, with a vision and focussed energy, created a wonderful hospitality venue for all to enjoy. See more

Leadership in Community Service Sector Zoe Scharenguivel and Manuela Whitford With what has recently happened in Brisbane, the work Manuela and Zoe do, is invaluable, a high priority and definitely needed in our community. Friends with Dignity was formed in 2015 and has helped furnish more than 355 homes for families fleeing violence, often with nothing but the clothes on their backs.... The not-for-profit organisation has also helped secure financial assistance for survivors through its Urgent Request and Little Friends Request programs, and its Little Friends Scholarship Program. Manuela is the Founder and CEO/Director & Zoe is one of the Directors of Friends with Dignity. The organisation is 100% self-funded and run by volunteers, encouraging the community to Step Up and make a difference, Speak Out against domestic violence and encourage conversations, and to provide practical Support within the community. One of Manuela’s favourite mottos is If you don’t ask, you’ll never know!, so ladies and gentlemen, if you know that you or anyone you know may be in a domestic violence situation, reach out because there is some wonderful support available. She runs her own Business and Marketing Consultancy company and has created a Facebook Community called The Only Business Group You Will Ever Need, which helps everyday business owners with business, marketing, strategy, persona...l development and general advice. Shannon has overcome adversity, having experienced domestic violence. She shares this with the community to show that she overcame these difficulties to build a business despite these challenges. She is also committed to build healthier, happier children by influencing the existing, traditional school curriculum. In alignment with her vision, Shannon is currently creating a social justice strategy to help people in third world countries create a bulletproof business program to fuel the end of poverty. Leadership in Social Injustice and Equality Professor Tracey Bunda Tracey stated in her interview that she is a Warrior Woman for Social Justice. Professor Tracey Bunda is a Ngugi/Wakka Wakka woman, who has worked in the higher education sector since 1986, holding a number of senior positions throughout universities across Australia. She has an outstanding track record of teaching and... research, specialising in the areas of Indigenous education and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander studies. She is currently the Academic Director and Director of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit at the University of Queensland and convener of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies major in the Bachelor of Arts. Tracey has also started an independent aboriginal school with the Victorian Department of Education. Tracey has a great sense of generosity of spirit and shares this with young people mentoring them to become their best. She has overcome adversity and succeeded in a male-dominated industry gaining the respect of the men and women she leads. Becky has had almost 30 years in construction, is a published author, multi-award-winning mentor, and overcame an abusive childhood and a lo...ng-term chronic illness of Rheumatoid Arthritis. She is a Director and Senior Project Manager for Queen B Project Systems Pty Ltd. She has been active in the Project Management community through volunteer work, the Master Builders’ mentoring program and working with private clients. Becky is passionate about encouraging women to seek senior roles within male-dominated industries including Construction. Becky shared in her interview that she does not see gender and illness as stopping points; you can overcome adversity and succeed. Rebecca is the Founder and Director of The Walls Contemporary Art Space in Miami. The Walls is the Gold Coast’s only bonafide artist-run initiative and not-for-profit organisation, establishing a perm...anent platform for the presentation of contemporary art in our city that was aligned with the high calibre of similar spaces in capital cities. The Walls runs the Gold Coast’s only international artist exchange program and is a nationally recognised organisation with international audiences spanning the Asia-Pacific, Europe and the USA. Leadership in small private business or home-based enterprises Prue Howard Prue lives by the motto of Leading by Example, getting up at 4.30am each day to work out the gym, then drive to Brisbane to be present for the most vulnerable children in our community. Prue is the founder of Savvy Style & Training, developing and implementing Pathways to Employment, self-development, leaders...hip and makeover programs designed to empower individuals so that they may move forward in life equipped with necessary skills. She is passionate about breaking the cycle of domestic violence, working with participants through personal styling, confidence building, empowering and delivering Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in a training format. Prue has partnered with The Department of Child Safety and the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to deliver her programs for the past six years. Her programs help participants to learn about mental and physical health boundaries and self-worth practices. Prue’s greatest gifts are seeing the potential in people, treating them with respect which raises their self-esteem, enabling them to create a better life for themselves. See more
