25.01.2022 Hello! I really hope everyone is well and enjoying the school hols/quarantine/social distancing etc... I’ve been formulating a few ideas to keep the kids engaged in drama and I’ve also started to source and compile some great online links that should provide some creative and dramatic stimulation!... I’d love to also get the kids performing to camera as much as possible and so I intend to look at setting up a private Vimeo (or similar) channel and having the kids record little monologues/skits on phones or whatever devices they have at hand and uploading for everyone to watch and positively comment on. I’ll do a couple too so they can have a laugh! To keep the library private, it would be by invitation only so please let me know if you’d be interested via dm or email. Stay smiling, healthy and positive (excepting a virus that we shan’t mention) and I’ll be in touch as soon as I can!

09.01.2022 Hi everyone! It’s been a while but I’ve got a few scenarios for you to perform over the weekend! Get everyone in your house involved and if you have enough people, break into groups and perform a scene for each other! If you can, record the scenes! Do it a few times and each time, change who the camera is looking at so that you can get everyone’s actions and reactions, then, edit it together using the apps on your device/computer. Don’t have anyone around? Easy! Write a sce...ne or monologue/speech and practice, practice, practice...then - If you can - use a device to record it so that you can see how you’re doing. Remember to have the camera close enough so that your facial expressions are really clear, this usually means that we should just see your shoulders up to the top of your head. If you don’t want to write something, find a short scene from your favourite show or book and write down the lines - but don’t just mimic the performance, make it your own! Most important - have fun!!! Ok...are you ready? Remember, no props! Just mime and act! SCENES 1 - Create a scene with : An oven A lazy dog The line, You can’t do that in here! (no-one can play the dog) 2 - Create a scene with : A box The colour orange The line, I will never do that again! FINISH THE STORY : You find a huge and mysterious glass cube in your back yard, it has a door. You enter the cube and look around, How did it get here? What is it?, Why is it here? You call someone else to come and look. They enter the cube. BUT THEN... MACGYVER Create a deadly situation, then escape using something ridiculous! Eg. your locked in a shed with a ticking time bomb but you suddenly find a piece of old bubblegum that you chew and blow into such a big bubble that it busts the roof off the shed and floats you into the sky and away..just in time! (of course)

01.01.2022 Hello parents and thesps! This is the inevitable message to say that THIS WEEK'S CLASSES WILL BE POSTPONED TO A MORE CERTAIN TIME. While we have limited numbers in a large space, there is no way I can offer a fun and rewarding class while effectively keeping the recommended distance between us all. Obviously, everything is changing by the hour and so I won't cancel term 2 as yet but I'll let you know as we approach. ... It's in times like this that creative escape and expression are vitally important and so please encourage your kids to write plays, read plays, download movie scripts and read along as they watch the performance. If you can, subscribe to one of the many providers who are streaming live performances, do whatever you can to keep art and performance part of everyday life. I'll keep in touch with some resources, links and ideas throughout the weeks ahead and let's all reconvene when we can! Simon
