25.01.2022 As a wedding photographer I get to see more variations of the same beautiful ritual than you could imagine. Weddings; no matter what form they take, share a few same words that needs to be uttered and the same intent, meaning and love. But literally everything else is crazy different. And, as a storyteller, I love these stories and I love being surprised every week! But at the same time, I'm so privileged to be on the inner circle and know so much about what motivates the c...ouple and what the different parts of the ceremony they hold dear. Jess and David's wedding was unlike any before it for me. Full of more tradition than I think I've experienced before, as you can see from the image. And it was amazing. Not every bride gets a guard of honour and to cut her wedding cake with her husband's sword (yes, that happened)... Thank you both. Congratulations and many more full moons. So many amazing colleagues got to share and shape their day. Him & Her Events, Brisbane Racing Club, Kate Dawes Flower Design, The Beauty Case, Karlee's Kupcakes Mick Danby. Well. Oiled. Machine.
25.01.2022 In the spirit of both anniversaries AND playing catchup blogging I've got the wonderful story of Chiara and Nathan tonight on the blog. Super sweet lovers on an island paradise. Happy anniversary cats! http://triciaking.com.au/south-stradbroke-island-sweethear/
24.01.2022 Theres one part of my "job" which is about getting the "arrrrggghhhhhhhh awweesome" wedding couple shot - I love doing that - its seriously fun and I post those pics to FB all the time. And then I spend the other 10 or so hours getting the shots that my couples didnt realise were shots (ninja style) whilst also making sure the mums and dads have everything they need. Mums and dads are everything. Im a mum, I see my own girls now and they are babies but I look at the ...amazing mums each weekend I see looking at their daughters and sons getting married and I cant help but think of my future. Im going to be that mum one day. And I will have all the pride. Ive met some amazing mums at weddings and they inspire me endlessly (Kay Stitt and Jenny Clark deal with me telling them how rad they are all the time). So each wedding I look to mum and dad and make sure they are cool. I make sure they have what they need because they deserve it. I make sure they have this shot. Yesterday I saw two amazing mums. I hugged both goodbye like they were my own mums because they were so warm and kind and they had awesome kids. One day Im going to hug my kids wedding photographer like they did to me. Married by Carly Slade Weddings.
23.01.2022 After a morning of nerves about the weather we hit bridal portraits to the sound of clapping thunder over Byron Bay. Uh oh! Grabbing a few umbrellas we ran off to make the most of the light before the storm hit. Then it hit. Not with a trickle but a momentous pour which quickly turned into a hailstorm. Laughing hysterically we ran to cover. The hail passed quickly and the most beautiful double rainbow appeared starting in the field we had just run from. I've never seen the start of a rainbow before. It was magnificent. In the end, the thing that had held so much apprehension in the morning was a highlight of the day and will serve Lauren and Alex and all their guests memories for years to come. Proof you gotta growth where the world takes you on your wedding day and enjoy it all. At Fig Tree Restaurant & Rooms
22.01.2022 Yesterday I met Billy. He was kinda sleepy and didnt really want to chat to me but he made me all the gooey. He was lucky enough to be born into the most awesome family I know. The kid SCORED!
22.01.2022 Whilst the majority of time I do shoot alone, occasionally (and always when requested) I get another photographer along for the ride to cover my back. On Saturday I had the pleasure of working with a photographer whom I'd not worked with before. This is Vedder in action organising the boys for their shots before the ceremony with his GoPro strapped on tight shooting every five seconds. Vedder was efficient, professional, he did lay down on the job a few times BUT he was supe...r cost effective (a bag of schmackos!). And he got the shots I wasn't able to get. Like when he ran in to where the groomsmen were getting ready to meet his dad (who happened to be the groom coincidentally enough) who was having a shower at the time. He was thrilled to see Vedder and his camera!! We heard his shouts echo through the house. See, Vedder's kind and loyal nature allowed him unparalled access to scenes I wouldn't be able to get and the angle of his camera gave him a unique vantage point so different from my own. Vedder's mum and dad are in the stages of building their house and I think shower doors are now high on their priority list. And Vedder's dad has decided that he was so thrilled with Vedder's work that he'd like to sort through Vedders images this time around which saves me double editing! High fives Vedder! I'll be recommending you to my colleagues. With James McLauchlan Celebrant at Samsonvale Hall.
21.01.2022 Its school holidays so I have the fortune of spending two weeks with these maginificent creatures. They are lovely when they dont fight! Sorry but work and emails are a little slow for this time, but we are half way through so back to normal speed in a week. Thanks for your patience!
20.01.2022 When I meet couples I try to articulate how much I love photographs because it's really what makes me me. Like, it's how I see everything and it's how I know to experience things. It's what I do. I tell my couples that I've been shooting since I was 8. I tell them about that one time I shot my own wedding with a compact film camera, shooting the smiles of my friends as Adam and I walked down the aisle. How the only way to capture my own wedding was from my perspective bec...ause it's what I know. I tell them about how I'm currently doing postgrad studies in photography, how photography is my everything. It's true. So my Confirmation of Candidature is coming up for me to formalise my PhD. It's scary as and looming! And somehow I chose to have the final months of writing my 70-odd page document during peak wedding season. *cough* I'm interested in how photographs shape our identity. If you've ever been to a wedding I've shot you'll have seen me keenly snapping shots of people taking selfies - I've probably got close to 300 shots of selfies. Selfie or it didn't happen! But I'm interested in seeing how this changes when we get older. How our relationship to photography changes. We youngens are all snap happy now, but take a look at your parents and grandparents! Not so trigger happy. So if you've ever been a guest at a wedding I've photographed and have taken a selfie odds are I've caught it and you are part of my greater study on photography and life. Thanks peeps! This shot is from my first visit to the aged care facility that I'm working with. Seeing all the wedding photographs on their walls and the photographs they choose to put up was incredible. And then there was this lady, a poet who was no longer able to speak her verses. So she wrote me a note telling me I was cobber.
20.01.2022 Ive always said to my colleagues that I have great brides. Really roll with the punches relaxed kinda girls. Yesterday redefined "relaxed" entirely. So Jessie walked down the aisle but there was no priest at the end. He didnt turn up. A no show. Horrifying. Her brother Ben looked around and in 30 seconds took the cues and stepped up and took charge. In front of 250 people he just did it. He made it seamless and he made it like nothing had happened. The way my beautiful bride Jessie dealt with it was incredible. All of the poise and calm - Im so proud if her. And they had the best dance floor Ive seen for a long time.
20.01.2022 Over the course of our plotting and scheming to have the best wedding ever Ive really grown to adore Candice and Michael. They have just impressed me so much with their genuine love and genuine care for their friends. Candice must have said at least ten times during the reception that I was there as a friend like everyone else so I needed to make sure I was fed and happy and taking time out to have fun as well as working. Then it rained. I kinda love rain as it takes ...all of the planning weve done, all of the location scouting and mental timelines and throws them out the window. And you have to be inventive and think on your feet. And you come up with plans you never imagined. Like this. Im super stoked on this image and had it been sunny and wed hit the park this would never have been. I love a good plan b (on the fly). With Annie Grace Ceremonies and the best loose braids in town by The Beauty Case then later at Southside Tea Room and being fed by my absolute favourite Red Robin Supper Truck.
20.01.2022 That one time it rained so hard that my boots got so filled with water I couldn't walk for a week (serious)... Adam and Tanya's "blow me it's windy" wet weather wedding (which was awesome!) on Polka Dot Bride!
20.01.2022 Cup of tea in my hand, Beth and Scott on my screen, new Banks & Steelz in my ears... Bring it Thursday!

20.01.2022 Ive documented a lot of weddings over the years so most days are anniversary days for a couple Ive been able to work with which is super cool and really special to me, however yesterday and today are anniversaries for two of my very special couples whom Im still in contact with and now consider friends. Plus, as a gal with a family, I do get the squeals when my couples have babies of their own. Happy anniversary to Terleah, Adrian, Demi and Tim and of course Ms Liv on the outside and unnamed but soon to join us bub still in! Both couples have been integral to my life and my work and we produced images Im so proud of and still refer to to this day. Haha and I could live alone off all the friends of Terleahs Ive photographed :-) xx
18.01.2022 Sometimes it can be a tad frustrating when people try to be funny and crash your bridal shoot however who could not instantly love this group of photo bombers from Chris and Kate's wedding on Saturday. European backpacking superheroes. #jumpspideyjump
18.01.2022 Happy one year anniversary to Tanya and Adam who are finally on their honeymoon in the sunshine of Hawaii. They were married in the torrential downpour one Friday in Brisbane which stopped traffic with flash floods, moved their reception out of their marquee to a more secure building and then back again, and generally did all it could to cause havoc to their day. They rose about the storm and had a great time and now one year on are honeymooning in the sun. So this post is to let them know that May 1st 2016 in Brisbane it kept to tradition and poured for most of the day - and I could only think of them sitting there in the sun over the other side of the world laughing over their expresso martinis at the stories they have. With Annie Grace Ceremonies at Spicers Hidden Vale

17.01.2022 When I asked to see the dress that morning the reply of "it's not quite ready yet" made my heart skip a beat I admit. But for the best reason, Claire had made the outfit herself and just had to put a few touches on the skirt once she was in it. They both looked incredible. I rate this in top five best dressed I've seen. Easily. And she made her own cake. And the attention to detail and attentiveness to her family and friends at the reception left me in awe. I finished the night and drove home thinking about how they are truly good people and how happy I was for them, how happy everyone there was for them! 15.01.2022 After a stupidly busy 2015 I'm back in the game, blogging like a boss all the rad weddings I've been lucky enough to witness and document. Far out there have been some sweet times. Like Carmen and Scott's wedding... (with Paul Voge Marriage Celebrant and California Native)
14.01.2022 When Alice and David said they were getting married in a greenhouse I was kinda intrigued. I thought about the dinky greenhouse in my backyard and chuckled. Surely not! Yeah they went a smidge bigger. Such a spectacular reception location on their family property atop Mt Nebo. With Alana Salm. Wedding Mumpreneur and Public Speaker and Wine & Dine'm Catering
14.01.2022 You know when you have this thing youd want to achieve and you actually really achieve it? Yep. Those feels. So I chatted to Kat in the UK from Rock n Roll Bride and told her about an amazing couple I thought would be good for the blog. Kats divine, shes completely fun times. Kat said "nah, lets put them in the magazine instead". Ok then.
14.01.2022 Understandably, a change of ceremony location the morning of your wedding would rattle some people. However yesterday, for Jacinta and Chris it wasn't an issue - different beach but same loved ones, same children, same fiancé. And when you accept change often the universe gives you amazing. After a heartfelt ceremony, we caught the last of the rays on the rocks and it was incredible.

12.01.2022 Im spoilt at choice of a glimpse to show of yesterdays wedding. My beautiful and kind brown eyed girl, Beth. Whilst it was her and Scotts day without a doubt, she made a point of recognising in her speech that everyone has a story. Everyone has a valid, interesting and worthwhile story. You just have to listen. She told her story. It was incredible - one of the best speeches Ive ever heard. And I feel so privileged to have my life intersect hers for a day, so Ill ...tell my story of Beth and Scott. I met Beth and Scott and had an instant "yup we can make this amazing" moment. My job is to make every wedding day amazing and Im proud to be able to do this, but then you meet people who somehow make *my* day amazing - but they totally arent meant to do this because its their day! A few weeks ago we met at the Church they were going to get married in to have a look around. My youngest child Mika was with me and she stood in for Beths dad and walked Beth down the aisle as her brother Michael timed it in order to get the music timing right. This was huge for my girl, Beth was wonderful to her. She felt special, like she was the most important person in the world right then. And thats just Beth. Everyone who crosses her path is special - even if they are just the photographers kid. Yesterday we had an amazing morning of laughs and relaxo. Then an inspirational ceremony, super relaxed bridal portraits at locations which were special to me so I was proud to share them with Beth and Scott. A street I lived in for four years when my husband and I first lived together. An alley next to my husbands work where I visit him all the time. As night fell I shared a table with family who told me stories of the couple and made me laugh hilariously. I have never, ever, ever, been told so many times that Im doing a great job. Family, strangers, all embraced Beth and Scotts spirit of inclusion and welcomed me. It was really special. Id love to hear from the guests if you see this to tell me your story! I think it would be amazing to read all the stories that lead us all to a shared night. With Wine & Dinem Catering, at the always amazing Lightspace Brisbane. Image choice. This possibly wasnt my first choice but as I say, I love so many images we created yesterday. I asked Mika, who loves Beth now and she said "this is the one most definitely, it has to be this". I cant argue with that... PPS. Ive been trying not to write essays lately, I know I do. But Beths speech went for at least 15 minutes, if not more, so I feel justified being wordy.
12.01.2022 The thought of everyone looking forward to having some quality time off with friends and family has got me thinking about some of the cool families I've had the pleasure of hanging out with this past year. Like The Grattons in Melbourne this time last year. Looking forward to more great family sessions in the new year and hanging out with more cool kids and their kids/furkids/friends...
11.01.2022 Adriana and Liam. Yesteday was so full of crazy and crazy good I almost cant breathe. I talked the ear off my cab driver every second of our journey home (and we got stuck in some kind of organised sports hell around Suncorp Stadium which added half hour to our chat so poor dude got the works). I got home and couldnt sleep, my brain was on overload. I have such awe for these two. They have a young family - two amazing boys - and yet they are so young themselves. They have d...one such incredible work doing the hardest task of all (kids yo!) and yet they are ridiculously good at being humans too! I think my personal "ridiculously good at being human" got downgraded to "lets just get through this" when I had two kids! Its hard stuff to navigate and still try to be your own person and a partner in all the chaos! Adriana and Liam made me step back and appreciate vows and honour and life commitment. All the things I value and I see every weekend and I admire so much. But sometimes when its uttered through a different voice you stand up and take notice. They whole body whole being meant every word which came out of their mouths. Much respect. See more

09.01.2022 Cait and Matt. So happy to be marrying their best ever friend. Relaxed from start to finish, they ended their night partying in a teepee on family property as the rain came down and the dancing got wilder. With the lovely Erin Woodhall Celebrant on hand to provide both the amazing ceremony as well loaning the cutest little flower girl you ever did see.
07.01.2022 Saturday night and there's a kids sleepover going on in my house so I'm editing to the soundtrack of girls giggling. I'm a huge music nerd and I always listen to music as I edit but I have to say this is the funest soundtrack yet. And to make things even more perfect, I am working on finishing up two very awesome weddings with couples and families who were just divine so I'm smiling wide as I'm looking at my screen. Giggles and smiles is a pretty rad way to sit in a cold Saturday night (and I'm being a wuss with my heater on in my office so I'm toasty too!). 06.01.2022 Bogart and Lunar. Couldn't be with us at the ceremony for somewhat obvious reasons however were there in spirit, and cat fur - my predisposition for wearing black whilst cuddling fluffy cats means a lot of them were at the ceremony with me. Representing the fur for Erin and Jaryd.

06.01.2022 When I know Ive got the shot I squeal a little. Because I always know when its "the shot". I smile, I mutter things, my couples know that Im barely containing my excitement. I see things my couples cant see because they are not physically there (I love it when grooms see the brides morning and brides see the gr...ooms morning through my images). 06.01.2022 So Cody hung out today, drinking hot chocolate and running the halls of The Foundry Brisbane taking behind the scenes and band photos of girl bands for Girls Rock Brisbane (an initiative empowering girls through music with a week long music camp). I think she's found her calling, though she was so inspired by the girls today she does want to join Girls Rock next year and play the drums instead... Check out the header pic of the Girls Rock Brisbane page - that's her photo! What a legend!

05.01.2022 Sav is my BFF. For reals. We connected. We shared stuffs. We understood each other. She got a special "you are rad kid and we love you like nothing else" necklace during the ceremony and it kinda made me cry a bit when it happened. She's an amazing kid. 04.01.2022 After years and years of visiting Charlene at her work I was so happy that she got to see me do my work - photographing her wedding. Though it's one of those instances where "work" is the wrong word. I was so happy to see someone I respect marry someone she's pulled me aside and said "he's incredible" about. She married her love, they had a first look on a ridiculously windy day, we took cover along brick walls, there was an astrology theme at the reception (nerd talk: all of my hard drives are named after planets and constellations so I appreciated the theme immensely), it was pretty awesome. 03.01.2022 Yesterday I met Billy. He was kinda sleepy and didn't really want to chat to me but he made me all the gooey. He was lucky enough to be born into the most awesome family I know. The kid SCORED!
03.01.2022 Jasper. About to share his parents.
03.01.2022 Bec, Michael, Celebrant Lady Love and David Bowie. Perfect.
02.01.2022 Adriana and Liam. Yesteday was so full of crazy and crazy good I almost can't breathe. I talked the ear off my cab driver every second of our journey home (and we got stuck in some kind of organised sports hell around Suncorp Stadium which added half hour to our chat so poor dude got the works). I got home and couldn't sleep, my brain was on overload. It's hard stuff to navigate and still try to be your own person and a partner in all the chaos! Adriana and Liam made me step back and appreciate vows and honour and life commitment. All the things I value and I see every weekend and I admire so much. But sometimes when it's uttered through a different voice you stand up and take notice. They whole body whole being meant every word which came out of their mouths. Much respect. See more
02.01.2022 Bogart and Lunar. Couldnt be with us at the ceremony for somewhat obvious reasons however were there in spirit, and cat fur - my predisposition for wearing black whilst cuddling fluffy cats means a lot of them were at the ceremony with me. Representing the fur for Erin and Jaryd.
02.01.2022 In the spirit of both anniversaries AND playing catchup blogging Ive got the wonderful story of Chiara and Nathan tonight on the blog. Super sweet lovers on an island paradise. Happy anniversary cats! http://triciaking.com.au/south-stradbroke-island-sweethear/
01.01.2022 Saturday night and theres a kids sleepover going on in my house so Im editing to the soundtrack of girls giggling. Im a huge music nerd and I always listen to music as I edit but I have to say this is the funest soundtrack yet. And to make things even more perfect, I am working on finishing up two very awesome weddings with couples and families who were just divine so Im smiling wide as Im looking at my screen. Giggles and smiles is a pretty rad way to sit in a cold Saturday night (and Im being a wuss with my heater on in my office so Im toasty too!). Here is one of the ladies (and her ladies) who makes me smile. With Paul Voge Marriage Celebrant Kerrie Brooke Nails & Makeup Artistry Northside Flower Market Eves On The River
01.01.2022 When everything goes from right to completely right to hells yeah to holy shit yeah. Last night at Jacinta and Julien's wedding was a night I'll remember for a long time. Not only were they completely lovely, caring and kind people (even though I met Julien approximately five minutes before the ceremony I am pretty sure we've actually been friends for years in some manifestation) but they had a huge bridal party who were all sorts of fun and games. I made them march around... the Botanic Gardens before hitting an underground car park. A car park! There were a few confused looks from the bridal party but they trusted me and we nailed it. Let the light be all sorts of golden - it was actually meant to rain... Great hangs with the The Gardens Club crew. I seriously love this venue. Great staff, great location, they run a tight ship which makes my job so so easy.
