22.01.2022 Some "sage" wisdom for you this festive season

21.01.2022 The local cherry shed sells frozen cherries, already pitted, for icecream and jam making. Wonderful - i don't have to pit them all! I picked up a few bags the other day and made a batch of jam this morning. They sell quick, so put your orders in!.

21.01.2022 Does anyone out there like passion fruit curd? I did make it a couple of times, but as only lasts up to 3mths in the fridge, I’d prefer to only make it to order.

15.01.2022 Another use for Quince Paste

14.01.2022 Laurel Berry jam - an unusual but popular jam flavor, tastes like marzipan. It's a slow process to make, stew the berries, then press them through a sieve to remove the cyanide containing seeds. The resulting pulp is then cooked up into jam. The seeds may contain cyanide, but they are what give this fruit its unique flavor, so they need to be cooked up before being removed. I've just sold the last of the jam I had in stock, so the crock pot has just been loaded up to start the process all over again. If you want a jar or two reserved for you, let me know, they go fast !!

13.01.2022 The first market I will be attending since this virus. Drop in and say Hi. Be prepared to spend time outside, as I can guarantee there will be lots of attendees. Xx Mark 19th September I need your diary now !!

13.01.2022 Bridestowe Lavender produces a culinary lavender. Lavender is a natural partner to fruit flavors such as lemon and blueberry, according to their website so I have bought some to trial some new recipe flavors. What other fruits do you think it would partner well?

09.01.2022 I've been AWOL for the past 4wks whilst I had a knee replacement and a stint in rehab in Hobart. My apprentice was good enough to man my stall at Mole Creek market last week, and today he helped make a batch of raspberry jam.

08.01.2022 I am excited to announce you can now pick up my Jams and Preserves from Inspirations, hair salon, 74 Main St, Sheffield. I put a sample in a couple of weeks ago, and stocks have flown off the shelves! I will be restocking Thursday. So if you are in need of a trim, gives the girls a call (03) 6491-1813, and check out my range while you are there.

07.01.2022 For those who are new to my page, (and the regulars) I thought I'd tell you a bit about me. I try to follow the Zero Waste method. I use recycled jars as much as possible, and I encourage my clients to return their empty jars. I try to use every part of the produce I use, any left overs is added to the compost. I use what is in season, and when the season is extra abundant, I freeze or preserve in jars what I can't immediately use. I have fruits soaking in Vodka to make liqueurs. The next thing I plan to do is buy Australian Vanilla pods (from QLD) and make my own vanilla extract. I make jams and preserves nearly every day. I like to try new varieties all the time, and have at least 30 different flavors at any one time. I don't like to be idle.

07.01.2022 First batch of lemon butter I've made in months - feels so good to be preparing for a market again. Limited supplies, so first in, best served - Mole Creek Sat 19th, or from home earlier !!

06.01.2022 Glad you are enjoying it xx

05.01.2022 I've been a bit quiet lately. It's been cool and I haven't been to any markets, but I still have plenty of stock on hand. I'm sure there are a few of you out there who a little low on Tomato Relish. Just send me a message and arrange a pick up, or if you are a Sheffield local, I could even arrange FREE delivery! Relish is a great base for a homemade pizza, or a toastie, or as a topping on your meats, or a tasty addition to a casserole. Something you don't want to run out of. Message me now !!

03.01.2022 Picnic time is on our doorstep, and it wouldn't be complete without my Piccalilli (mustard pickles) and a chunk of cheese, cold meats and sourdough bread. I made a few jars this morning - first in, best dressed !!
