22.01.2022 Important message from the Kapunda Show Committee
22.01.2022 The Autumn show season kicks off this coming weekend! Will we see you at Angaston or Lucindale?
21.01.2022 After extensive consideration, it is with much sadness that the Society is obliged to cancel the 2020 Royal Adelaide Show. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pan...demic, and the current restrictions in place for public gatherings, along with the uncertainty of any timeline around lifting restrictions, it makes it unworkable to hold a large event such as the Show in 2020. The decision not to go ahead with the 2020 Royal Adelaide Show has not been taken lightly. It is deeply disappointing to reach this decision; however, it has been carefully evaluated and considered. It is felt the position the Society has taken is in the best interest of public health and the broader community. The Society will now turn its attention to planning and presenting a fantastic Spring Show in 2021.

21.01.2022 After thorough discussion and deliberation during a Agricultural Shows Australia meeting held on Friday 27th March in relation to the upcoming ASA National Cham...pionships, it was decided to cancel the 2020 National Competition Finals due to the current COVID19 pandemic. The competition was scheduled to be held in October at Hawkes Bay AP & H Show, New Zealand. It was also determined that any competitor who had qualified for these finals in 2020 would be eligible for 2021 Nationals. ASA recognizes the considerable time and effort that Competitors have put into qualifying and winning your state final so appreciate this decision would be upsetting for many. We will do our best to ensure 2021 continues to move forward and we look forward to working with you to ensure you are able to represent your state, territory or region at the 2021 National Finals. The Agricultural Society Council of South Australia is discussing how this will affect our Young Judges State Finals in 2020 at the Royal Adelaide Show and their current and future competitors. If you are a competitor who was attending New Zealand, we will keep you updated as more details are finalised. Thank you

13.01.2022 National Volunteers Week 2020 Changing Communities, Changing Lives Light Regional Council extends our sincerest thanks to all who volunteer within our Council... area. Welcome to our Volunteer Hall of Fame showcasing a few of the people who do extraordinary things across the Light region Meet Lights 2020 Citizen of the Year Janet Hazel Janet is a community person that all communities would proud to have. Janet has worked at the Kapunda Kindy for 27 years but apart from her paid role she also contributes volunteer hours to coordinate 'working bees' and helps run fundraisers such as canteens, morning teas, open gardens, and auction nights. Not only does Janet organise these events, she cooks and donates beautiful food. After 40 years on the committee, Janet was awarded Life Membership of the Kapunda & Light Agricultural Society. Janet was the flower convener before she took up convening the cooking section and is now the main Kapunda Show convenor looking after all sections which is a huge job. Along with this, she home cooks and organises all the meals for judges and special guests. In winter all of the Show committee meetings are held at Janets house where she has a warm fire going and home-made treats for other members. Janet helps run fundraisers for the Kapunda High School Centenary Foundation, including coordinating the canteen on their behalf for the Kapunda Trots and the Kapunda Farm Fair. Again Janet cooks homemade food for these events and contributes a huge amount of time in preparation. She has helped out in organizing and running town celebrations, such as the High Schools Centenary weekend and 50 years of Kapunda Kindy which involved many volunteering hours. Janet volunteers her time to other community groups (such as the Kapunda Primary School Governing Council and the Kapunda Lions Club) to help out (cooking, preparing and serving) at events such as the canteen at the 24hr Trial and the Lions BBQ at the Kapunda Mega Garage Sale day. She loves doing this work for the community and sees it as a way of 'paying back' for the help these people/groups give her. Janet has also been a member on the Eudunda and Kapunda Health Advisory Council (HAC) for over seven years. But wait, theres more! Past volunteer roles held by Janet includes a Scout/Girl Guide Leader, a Sunday School teacher, and a volunteer ambulance driver. She is a truly a great organiser and a giving person. We thank you Janet Hazel for all you have done for your community. #NationalVolunteersWeek2020 #ColourYourCommunityRed

02.01.2022 Statement from the EA Board The Board of Equestrian Australia has taken the difficult decision to place Equestrian Australia Ltd into Voluntary Administration. ...Craig Shepard and Kate Conneely of KordaMentha have been appointed Voluntary Administrators. This follows the withdrawal of funding by Sports Australia, which had formed a view that, until the organisation is both representative of the membership and stable in governance and operation, they could not in good faith continue to contribute public funds. Combined with the impact of COVID-19 on our forecast revenue, this places the organisation at risk of trading insolvently. Clearly, the current EA model does not work. The intent of entering Voluntary Administration is to avoid insolvency, which would be disastrous, and to create the conditions for a successful and sustainable equestrian community into the future. Effective immediately the High-Performance (HP) program will be transferred under the oversight of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). The HP Panel will remain in place, funding returned to the AIS, and the program will continue unabated in pursuit of equestrian gold at the upcoming Olympics. We have been advised that there will be no change to HP staffing arrangements. The Administrators will take control of the remainder of EA. The constitution is effectively set aside in favour of their powers under the Corporations Act. The operations of EA continue without change at this stage and there is no planned loss of jobs. The Administrator will work with the creditors of EA to determine the conditions for exiting Voluntary Administration. This process is intended to be rapid, envisaged by the Corporations Act to take about a month. This will enable EA to rebuild as a viable, representative, democratic and stable national sporting organisation that is retuned to a focus on sport as quickly as possible. In our sport of so many diverse interests, rarely do our branches, committees, and members share a cohesive view. Disagreement, however, should not be destructive. We should strive to improve the structure, the culture, and the performance all in the interests of greater opportunity, participation and enjoyment. The current Directors have agreed to work with the Administrator to rebuild the organisation as quickly as possible. https://www.equestrian.org.au/news/statement-ea-board
