25.01.2022 A plea from home groomers. As followers of this page are aware, I groom from a residential property. Home groomers seem to confuse people and I would like to clarify what we actually do and why we should be allowed to continue offering grooming services in a time where dogs are matted and can't get in to retail salons. I have been grooming professionally for 14 years. I am a certified fear free groomer. I have registered as a business, pay tax, have insurance and follow the l...aws set by local council. Our landlord loves dogs and is on board with what we do. My salon is in the garage, custom built and separate from my home. We have a side gate that clients come through (in normal times, I changed to curb side pick up and drop off when covid got serious) and a sign saying not to come to the front door. There is a walk way to the salon, which has a door and a baby gate inside for safety purposes. I run by appointment only and don't allow walk ins. I have an eftpos machine for contactless payment that is wiped down with disinfectant after every use. Cash is put in a plastic bag and left for a couple of days after being sprayed with F10 which is an anti-viral veterinary grade spray. I use that spray to clean everything and spray any leads collars etc the dog is wearing. I wash the dog as soon as it comes into the salon to avoid spreading any viral residue on the coat. Then I groom the dog and call the owner as soon as they are ready. I only have two holding pens and only groom one dog or family at a time. Appointments are spread out to avoid any potential spread. The table, grooming tools and bath are disinfected after every client. All clients leave details with me, which can be used to track any potential covid spread. This is a normal practice for all groomers as we like to have as much information as possible to provide appropriate care. We are in this business because we love and care about dogs and animal welfare. My clients cannot book in elsewhere because every salon is full to bursting and a lot of them cannot go to regular salons for behavioural and medical reasons. As you can see by the attached pictures, I am set up to work alone. Everything is easy to clean and I followed the covid safe plan when I was open. Feel free to share this post to educate the general public and hopefully the government as to what we do and why we are able to operate as safely as a retail premises. Emma - The Kind Canine Stylist.

24.01.2022 An interesting, quick read on grooming in the current Covid world of Victoria!

23.01.2022 Hello, and welcome to The Kind Canine Stylist's page. We are one of three Certified Fear Free Groomers in the state - and I'm sure a lot of you have questions about what that means. I've written a blog on my website to explain it. Please message me if you have more questions! We are open Monday - Saturday and are a one-on-one service. We run mostly cage free (with crates available if the pupper feels safer in one) with a groomer that has 14 years professional experience in salons in both Melbourne and Perth. While I specialise in remedial grooming, I also have a very soft spot for toy breeds and the golden oldies. Thanks for dropping by! - Emma

18.01.2022 Two new superstars today, both teens having their first ever professional grooms and both did REALLY well! Thank you Kylo and Missy!!! PS: turns out the new table can hold a Samoyed easily, so our 20kg weight limit has officially been abolished. Each large breed we take on will still be on a case by case basis but if you've wanted your dog groomed and couldn't due to the size limit, feel free to enquire

17.01.2022 I miss seeing everyone's dogs. Please post pictures so we can all feel happy!

17.01.2022 We were busy yesterday doing a little remodel- I realised my old table was scaring the dogs as I had to pump it up and down by foot and it was quite jerky. No longer! Now we have a beautiful new electric table that doesn't bother even the smallest dog its a lot bigger than the old one too...

10.01.2022 We have just now been informed in writing by the DHHS that home salons are not allowed to operate for another 3 weeks. My sincerest apologies to every client that has booked in with me, I have been trying for a MONTH to get clarification and have been told it was legal right up until now. Home salons have been completely ignored up until this point and I am very upset that I've only been told the NIGHT BEFORE we were told we could reopen. I sincerely hope anyone who booked with me can find a salon elsewhere (of which only retail can legally open, and ONLY for welfare reasons) and I hope I will still have a business to return to when we are finally recognised as a legitimate salon structure. a very very disappointed and upset Emma x

09.01.2022 Just a warning to our Essendon/Aberfeldie/Marybyrnong river area walkers... canine gastro is going around (vet confirmation this morning from a local group poster). Stay safe!

05.01.2022 We are still not able to open. I will update when I have any idea as to what will happen at the end of the month. Stay strong everyone

05.01.2022 Daniel Andrews confirmed in the presser today home groomers can't open. I still have no idea how busy corporates and salons are safer but the decision has been made. Please support small business in all sectors as much as you can, most of us won't survive the year at this rate.

05.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who let me know that the booking confirmation texts aren't working. It is a problem with the system (you need to have the same app I use to recieve texts which is uh... not ideal). From now on I will be manually texting from the work phone. Sorry to anyone that was messed around by this annoyance Emma x

03.01.2022 Hello my lovely followers, I can't wait until Sunday when we will find out if we can open at the end of the six week lockdown or not, but until then I'd like to share some news! As some of you know I've been struggling with my health for a few years now. I'm so thrilled to say I am officially in remission from cancer. I am so excited to see what the future will bring and finally begin to grow my humble little business! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has supported us so far and here's to the future! Emma, Scooter and Daisy xx

02.01.2022 Hi all my lovelies, we are starting to get booked up so please text/fb message/email me if you are after an appointment from the 28th September. I want my regulars and anxiety dogs to get spots before I book out. Have a wonderful weekend

01.01.2022 Our second exciting piece of news won't be a surprise to some of my regulars, but my beautiful partner Jeff (who is camera shy so here is his daughter Nala) will be joining me as my grooming assistant! He is chief Puppy Comforter and phone jockey. I (Emma) will still be doing all the grooming but we are starting to get quite busy so he will be doing the extras and learning to bath. Don't be alarmed if I don't answer the phone, I'm always available to talk to and you can ask for me any time! E x
