14.01.2022 Something I learnt today (and many people are also surprised to learn) is that starfish have eyes. Its true. The eyes are therejust not in the place you would expect. Sea stars have an eye spot at the end of each arm. This means that a five-armed sea star has five eyes, while the 40-armed sun star has 40 eyes. Each sea star eye is very simple and looks like a red spot. It doesnt see much detail but it can sense light and dark, which is just enough for the environments the animals live in.

Apparently this is the best time of year for a visit. Has anyone got anything unusual planned for Dad this Sunday?? Always nice to hear about some good places to visit around WA - especially since we wont be going overseas any time soon.

10.01.2022 Its no secret that us ladies love our accessories. I didnt realise that this love for beautiful things has been part of us for thousands of years. I read today that a pair of beads made from Nassarius sea snail shells, approximately 100,000 years old, are thought to be the earliest known examples of jewellery. Haha! I now feel like I can safely tell my husband... "yes I do need it - I cant help it, I have a genetic predisposition"

09.01.2022 Spring is just a few days away... one tell-tale sign for me is when I see the butterflies flying around in the garden. There have been a few this week. Coupled with the beautiful sunshine weve had this week, Im almost feeling brave enough to say "so long winter!" This time of year is my favourite. All the beautiful flowers starting to bloom.
