24.01.2022 No More Fat Guts The Croc https://m.whitsundaytimes.com.au//colossus-of-a-c/3630195/

24.01.2022 As far as I know the landing has got surveillance cameras there...

23.01.2022 4.5 METRE 'ICON' CROC RELOCATED TO CQ If you're on the Bruce Highway between Townsville and Rockhampton you may spot 'iconic' cargo. Fat Guts is a 4.5m croc... who has been removed from the Prosperpine River after a member of the public spotted him near Glen Isla landing. Crocs over 4m are deemed 'icon crocodiles' under Queensland's conservation laws. Queensland Environment Department (DES) Senior Wildlife Officer Tony Frisby says people may have been feeding Fat Guts. "The crocodile had also been reported approaching people and boats near the water's edge, behaviour consistent with an animal that has been regularly fed in that area," he says. "DES wildlife officers arrived to conduct a site assessment, the crocodile immediately approached them at the river bank and remained floating nearby until they left." DES says Fat Guts will be held at a CQ croc farm while arrangements are made to secure his permanent home. The maximum fine for feeding dangerous native animals is $5222. 21.01.2022 Lenny seized a dead Feral pig carcass that was floating up with the tide today. EPIC CROC FEEDING ACTION.

19.01.2022 Not quite the same angle but you can see how much the bank has eroded away over the last few years...Just be careful standing near the edge of the bank as it is very crumbly as we found out a few months back trying to retrieve a crab pot at low tide

18.01.2022 By the looks of it these crocs are getting closer and closer to the bank due to some dim wits illegally feeding these crocs..So be sure to take closer attention now when fishing at the landing...

15.01.2022 Decided to go for a drive to have a looky see and we nearly had a head on with a stupid hippy van luckily we were only going slow....

15.01.2022 Only 30 minutes from Airlie Beach on Queensland’s tropical Whitsunday Coast, you’ll experience a complete switch in scenery. Leave the wondrous clear blue waters behind to see the murky Proserpine River’s famed residents. https://www.9now.com.au//20/clip-cjytfdpf8000y0gmz63sxm6hg

14.01.2022 The Landing at Proserpine River. Proserpine River was the lifeline of our community before the railway opened between Proserpine and Bowen in 1910, with goods a...nd passengers being transported by boat to the ‘Landing’. About 1880, horse-drawn coaches were used for transporting mail, goods and passengers from Bowen, 6am to 5pm. Refreshment stops were found at Bells Hotel at Billy Creek and Homestead Hotel near Miowera. A wharf was constructed at the Landing in about 1884 when Crystalbrook Sugar Mill was planned (Glen Isla, south end of Proserpine). This location proved unsuitable due to flooding and swampy conditions. The mill did not come to fruition due to financial issues and all plant etc sold. At this time, 1895, Proserpine was becoming a town with Luxmores store, opening top end of Renwicks Lane, AJ Cotton’s butcher shop, Schumacher’s bush pub ‘The Beehive’ and Mr J Jupp, a hawker, who was bringing in goods from Bowen. A school was already at Kelsey Creek. The SS 'Porpoise' shipped in 13 ton of general cargo. The 'Australian' and 'Lady Norman' were other ships delivering to the Landing. A second sugar mill was built on the present site with all building material and machinery being delivered to the wharf and transported via horse teams through very boggy country. Eventually a tram line was laid. Passengers arrived on lighters at the Landing. In 1897, the SS 'Pelican' towing the lighter 'Quasha' took the first shipment of sugar to Mackay (about 300 ton). At Flat Top the sugar was loaded on to overseas vessels. 1901 experienced a prolonged wet season causing flooding to the small settlement of shops. These businesses were relocated to Main and Chapman Street. Opening of the rail to Bowen saw the death of river traffic and 1911 the tram line to The Landing was removed. The Brinawarr, Osprey, and Relief were all wrecked in 1918 cyclone. The Landing has long since been a place for picnics or fishing from the bank. The scenery for the passengers all those years ago may not have been picturesque but the crocodiles were always seen. Recently Crocodile Safaris have commenced daily excursions on the river for tourists. See more

09.01.2022 Did see a small croc resting it’s head on the bank but wasn’t the one we were waiting and wanting to see

08.01.2022 Waiting for Mr Big Snapping Handbag to come floating down the river

06.01.2022 This is really starting to peeve me off ...How hard is it really to take your rubbish with you The Landing is not a rubbish tip...Keep this up and the Council will close it down(And they will) and that will be another popular local place shut down due to people being very lazy...Also to unless you want to get a big fine from the council there is no CAMPING allowed...there is signs stating that on the left hand side of the road as you are heading to The Landing...So to everyone that goes to The Landing do the right thing please...

01.01.2022 A resident crocodile has been evicted from the Proserpine River, because he was becoming a little too familiar with passing boats. www.7plus.com.au/news #7News
