20.01.2022 We are so pleased to introduce you to the talents of the wonderful Helen Lavis who has created some amazing Properties for our show!! Check out one of her featured props, beautiful customized book jackets for one of Jamie's best selling novels...keep an eye out for this and many other fantastic items that the lovely Helen has styled specifically for our production. Helen is a props maker and has been involved in local theatre in Cairns for the last 15 years. Starting ...at The Rondo Theatre - Cairns Helen began her addiction to learning all things backstage and has been a part of over 30 shows there. Helen has also worked on numerous musicals with The Cairns Choral Society, most recently heading up the props team for Wicked, Shakespeare at Tanks Arts Centre with Tropical Arts Association Inc and now with The Last Five Years team. Helen has put her hand to most backstage roles in theatre such as stage management, lighting and sound, microphone technician, set dressing and even accent coach for her first musical in Cairns, Blood Brothers, as Helen was born in Liverpool, England, moving to Australia in 1985. Helen is presently a Rondo committee member and also their bar manager and well, volunteers a lot at the Rondo! Helen's favourite theatre role though is props person. Sourcing and making props is such a fun challenge especially with the tiny budgets usually allocated in not for profit community theatre groups but Helen just loves it! Every different prop she creates she learns something new and there have been some weird and wonderful things to source or make over the 50+ shows she has worked on in Cairns.
