12.01.2022 FLASH & ZAMOSA RUN OUT OF THEIR SKINS Terrific day for the stable yesterday. Zamosa kicked us off at Newcastle in the 2900 metre Hunter Stayers Cup and what a performance. This mare continues to go from strength to strength and it has to be remembered she only won her 1400 metre Dalby maiden three starts back. ... Everything was going to plan until 1000 metres from home in the Cup when rider Jay Ford was flushed out 3 deep and that’s where we stayed. Zamosa had the audacity to hit the front in the straight but the effort had to tell and she wound up a courageous 4th, missing 3rd by a neck. Incredibly, this mare was coming again on the line. All at Fry Racing could not be prouder of our Zamosa. She is no oil painting and has her little quirks but she gives 100% every time she steps out. You can’t help but love this special horse. Flash Aah made it 4 wins from 6 starts and his future is looking very good. This big dopey kid still doesn’t have any idea what this game is all about and to quote Jason Taylor, this bloke won that on raw ability. It took Mick Hellyer on Cane Cutter to take off and sit outside us, putting pressure on, to switch Flash on. Mick told us after the race that he won us the race. Bloody jockeys, always looking for a sling, I told him that Flash Aah’s motor kicked in 100 from home and the race was put away, an impressive win. He will now have a short blow before going to Eagle Farm for a 2200 metre BM race in three weeks. A big congratulations & thanks to all owners and supporters of Mitch Fry Racing & The Last Stride. And now for the kicker Our winning strike rate is pretty good at the minute and we do have very affordable, even very cheap shares available in some very nice horses, one will trial tomorrow!!! 03.01.2022 HE’S BLOODY TOUGH Well done to Rosie Posie on winning the Dalby Cup Saturday, a local victory for all the connections. The Last Stride’s warhorse Atouchmore tried his heart out as usual and snatched second from a certain third through sheer guts and determination. ... We were stiff. Our race plan went out the window when there was no Splitz early with a bolter pushing up inside us, keeping Two More off the paint. When Havashout (last) hoisted the white flag, Atouchmore was exposed from the 400, just too early into the strong (stinkin) head wind on the rock hard track with Rosie getting the sit on us in our slipstream. Our jockey Steph Lacy rode Atouchmore a beauty under the circumstances and she deserved one placing higher but that’s the game we play. And I have to give our trainer Mitch Fry a huge wrap, big boots to fill with this horse and he’s needing a bigger pair of RM’s, his toes are being crushed, well done and thank you Congratulations to all our connections with Atouchmore’s courageous second yesterday.
