14.01.2022 Saturday night saw the next installment of the 2020 season after a long break with Covid and a few false starts. We travelled up to the Sunshine Coast to take on The Thirsty Old Lions Rugby Club. With only 14 guys making the trip, the boys from Logan sinners and Caboolture joined us to give us a solid bench and the dream of not playing full games become a reality. TOLs play a very intense level of rugby that I’m sure both teams are feeling today. The long break between games... was evident in the first third with both teams taking their time to settle into the game and get through multiple phases, although I’m not sure that improved much during the game as fatigue kicked in. There was plenty of big hits and and some great runs none better than Cashy strolling into a massive hole 40 out and going all the way to tough down under the post. Some how with the speed wobbles and 15 blokes chasing him he managed to get the job done. Points went to Cherry who was always threatening with ball in hand, Ivon playing his first game for the club (even if he ditched us at the first chance to play 2/3s with the other team, what a pest over the ball) and Cashy purely to get his skills into the boat race which was our worst performance in recent memory as the whole TOLs team had finished before Cherry who lead us off (Rubbish). The locals put on a great feed of burgers and plenty of cold beers after the game and we got to watch the mighty Tahs on the big screen before they turned in off in disgust. The boys who stayed up got some extra bonding long into the night before a team kebab shop stop finished us all off. Congrats to Gavin, Leary, Shannon, Ivon and Ash on their first hit out for the late knights Thanks to TOLs for the game and the fine hospitality, the ref who had to put up with plenty of whinging, Logan and Caboolture for helping both teams with number and to our boys who made the big effort to get up there for the away game. Watch out for raccoons people they like to hide in tight places.

10.01.2022 Great hit out Friday night in a round robin against Surfers Gorillas, Bond Buccaneers, Palm Beach Toothless Gators and the Bodgies. Thanks Surfers for hosting. Congrats to all the boys who got to play their first game for the Mighty Late Knights. This Friday night we take on Logan Sinners at home at 8pm. Now back by popular demand the match report according to Garbo. ‘To arms, to arms , the gathering is upon us!!!’ Phil the town crier bellowed the word across the land . On...ce again our knights were called to battle , far and wide the call was heard . ‘Panther of the mountain ‘journeyed forth , the Welsh wizard was summoned, sheriff Bull stepped to the fray. Such was the need even the ‘fool’ prickle was permitted a place on the field . The regular warriors also presented along with new brethren welcomed to the field. Numbers were taken , pre scrap ale was consumed, and traditional filthy port was enbibed . Phil quickly borrowed a jesters helmet and play commenced. The first engagement was a spirited affair and prickle arrived at the notion that we needed a handicap. In the name of sportsmanship he offered his opposite a try which they thankfully accepted. The battle continued, ‘the panther took an eye cut with thanks ( chicks dig scars)and the section continued to its conclusion. Rugby was the winner. Further battles ensued with much frustration being displayed as the reality of one’s ability being realised , and the realisation that all this time spent battling could be spent consuming ale ,and conversing on how good we were in our primes and how much softer the game is now . Wey The games came to a fitting end with Garbo throwing a 30 metre cut out pass for the opposition winger to intercept and score . Thus proving why props should not throw cut out passes. The post game gathering was of good fare ( all be at 1.6 metres apart) and was concluded with three members being informed the bar was closed and they would have to leave. In all a good display gentlemen, thank you to those who supported such a travesty of human endeavour. See you in the Trenches!!!! Garbo
