I’m a Budjiti women, I was born and raised here on Koombermerri Country (Gold Coast) although my bloodlines extend from Kooma - Kunja Country (Paroo River, Cunnamulla). I have the privilege of being able to come to this centre each week and teach Yugambeh language, this is a dialect of the Koombermerri people here in the Gold Coast. During each lesson I aim to engage children and educators in not only indigenous language but perspective...s. I am passionate about my culture and languages and am excited to share it. Over the term we will be discussing connecting to country and our surroundings. Introducing language into our daily routine and discovering Yugambeh names for body parts and Australian animals through games, songs and activities. Nya- na nabu ( See you soon) Kimberley

01.01.2022 What an awesome way to kick start our Reading Challenge this week with having Miss Kimberley from our "Let's Nabei" program reading the storybook... "The echidna and the shade tree." Miss Kimberley joins us every second Monday in the afternoons. She invites the children to participate in a language and literacy session where the children learn all about the Yugambeh language through various interactive experiences. ... We still have some available spots on Monday's in the Toddlers room, so be sure to contact the centre to book your place to take part in this cultural learning experience too.
