25.01.2022 Getting my final pieces finished for Memento at The Art Passage, Miranda, NSW, Australia 14th Oct - 10th Nov. It is my honour to be presented alongside the impressive photorealistic cross-hatching of Dean Spinks as well as the beautiful intricacy of Emily Dabrons detailed ink art This is my first public showing (getting punched and kicked in front of various crowds not included ) since 2013 (Mea Culpa at The Performance Arcade Wellington NZ). I almost lost my shit when I came across the @shani_ghosh red rabbit print, it is absolutely stunning and I basically basically threw my wallet at her. Beautiful beautiful .... . I love my new kookaburra from @beksutt and was blown away by her beautiful lorikeet original that she sold, congrats! Love your work . . 12.01.2022 The Left Body in Memento at The Art Passage 14th Oct - 10th Nov 2018 Opening Drinks 20th Oct 3-5pm... Bodies are Left behind all the time: mattersphysical matter and matters of thoughtare always changing, regenerating, being rejected and recovered. To me, Arts are sites of recovery: visual art, written theory, and martial arts are therapeutic spaces where lost bodies, unbalanced bodies, and hidden bodies are regained, righted, and made visible. The Left Body is an ongoing project: as dis-orders are (re)performed (as collisions of parts (co-influential forces (sub-texts within subtexts))) they are made tangible, negotiable, and resolvable. For The Left Body, Memento performs one such collision of parts: the circle, the stitch, and the subject/s ginkgo, the animals, and us. The circle is a lens: it draws focus to Bodies on the verge of becoming Left behind. Stitched, these circles indicate varying states of conservation and repair the broken stitch alludes to an urgency, and vanity, of action. Ginkgo is known to have survived atomic bombing, but however resilient, is an endangered species. Likewise, once resilient animals, now environmentally sabotaged, are not far from extinction. As human viewers contemplating these other animals contemplating their own mortality, we likewise doubly contemplate our own fragile existence on this tired Earth. LB x . . . 04.01.2022 Installation all done! I can wash my hair and eat and sleep and exercise Memento showing until 14th Nov. If youve not seen Dean Spinks or Emily Dabrons work up close before this is an amazing opportunity to get up super close to check out their hundreds of hours of line work .... The mezz floor doubles as a wallpaper showroom and Crockers have done an awesome job in making this a classy, welcoming and comfortable display space. So if youre a nerd for textile patterns and big beautiful drops of paper like me come have a browse upstairs either way! My work occupies the stairwell, which is what makes The Art Passage a unique gallery space. It might feel strange stopping midway up a staircase to check out some drawings but please do! Its all part of the art passage experience. The spatial/performance design part of me would love to do something more site specific on this stairwell one day, lots of potential!
