25.01.2022 Try this delicious curry to give your immune system a boost. Perfect meal as the weather cools down. https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au///vegetable-curry/

25.01.2022 Are you trying to conceive or currently pregnant? Calcium is an important nutrient for pregnant women. Because your growing baby's calcium demands are high, you should increase your calcium consumption to prevent a loss of calcium from your own bones. Food sources rich in calcium include sardines or salmon with bones, tofu, broccoli, spinach, dairy products and calcium-fortified juices and foods.

25.01.2022 I guess I did tell Finn we were going to put avocado on top of her egg bread

24.01.2022 Woke up to this for easter breakfast! I ate my chocolate last night

24.01.2022 New Year often brings new goals. While I believe its a good idea to write goals regularly throughout the year, January is a good place to start. How many times have you set the same goal year after year? Often we forget to create a plan on how to reach our goals with leads to failure. We MUST include steps on how we are going to get there! For example we cannot just say I'm going to be healthier this year. How are you going to do that? Are you going to swap your biscuit snack... for carrot and hummus? Are you going to limit take-away to once per month? Are you going to start making your own lunches instead of buying them? Then you need to measure and track these goals. You may go off track but following your progress allows you to see this and get back on again. Some of my 2020 goals include: Goal 1 - Get more and better quality sleep. I plan to do this by eliminating caffeine after 11am. I am not going to use social media or work on my computer after 8.30pm. I am going to read in bed before trying to sleep and ensure im in bed by 10pm. I am going to take magnesium every night. I am going to remove myself from stressful people and situations so that I am not up worrying at night. I am going to practice mindfulness with the help of an app each night to help my anxiety. I have a new mattress for comfort. Goal 2 - No phone zone between 5 and 7pm each night when with my family. No real steps just put it out of sight at these times. Goal 3 - Find a way to help those in need. I'm not sure how to do this yet but my first steps will be searching for volunteer organisations in my area, being kinder and more helpful in every day life (stop being so busy and rushed), Look into an initiative I saw where you took your babies/toddlers to nursing homes to brighten the residents days. I will keep thinking on this. Thats it so far. What are your goals and how are you going to get there? KB x

23.01.2022 Happy Valentine's Day. Celebrating our love for each other with a giant fake bear and golf ball. Ps I won KB x

23.01.2022 It's important in these times to keep our immune system strong, giving us the best chance of fighting this virus that's taking over the world! Although this article was written for last year's cold and flu season the same principles apply and will help you stay strong and healthy. https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au//cold-and-flu-rem/

22.01.2022 Christmas and the festive season are generally full of eating, drinking and being merry, but it is important for diabetics (and everyone else!) to keep an eye on what they consume (with the occasional treat of course!). https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au//surviving-christ/

22.01.2022 With everything going on in the world at the moment it's hard to remain calm. I suffer from anxiety at the best of times so the virus and panic surrounding me at the moment has really ramped up my emotions! As I'm sure it has for many others. It's important to try and reduce anxiety and stress so that our immune systems are strong, our mental health remains in tact and we can continue to live our lives. Easier said then done right? Foods can play a part in emotions and anxiety and something we can all implement (if we can get the food with the panic buying going on right now!). Here are some of the best foods to help with anxiety https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au//best-foods-for-a/

20.01.2022 Can't believe this little chicken turned 2 today! By far the best thing that ever happened to us.

20.01.2022 If you are trying to change your eating habits I recommend completing a food diary first. Keep track of everything you eat or drink (don't forget sauces, sugar, milk etc) for at least 3 days including one weekend day. This will give you a good variety of what you eat over a week. Just writing it down will help you to notice what you are eating and adding to your food. Perhaps you are mindlessly having bits and pieces throughout the day you weren't even aware of? It will also help to track any patterns such as eating when stressed, feeling bloated after certain foods etc. It really is a useful tool! Have you done a food diary before?

20.01.2022 The beach is our perfect medicine - getting outdoors, in the sun, salt water and being together as a family for some fresh air and fun. Please note this was prior to the current social distancing rules

19.01.2022 Easy Meals Ideas For Pandemic Events. Never thought I would write that headline! Can you believe what is going on right now? I cannot. Amongst the worry of the virus we also have to deal with panic grocery shopping and the unavailability of some foods (and toilet paper!). Combine this with the possibility of not leaving the house for a few weeks which means we need to stock our freezers and cupboards. https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au///easy-meal-ideas/

19.01.2022 Christmas often leads to overindulging and sugar! Keep this handy slice on hand to make it through the silly season. It freezes well, tastes delicious and is easy to make - what more can you ask for? https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au//white-xmas-prote/

17.01.2022 Another day of Finn snacks for today's adventures. Leftover tortillas - 1 with Vegemite and cheese and 1 with hommous, chicken, blueberries, avocado and a Greek yoghurt pouch. What do you serve your toddlers? This could also work for adults!

17.01.2022 Are almonds triggering your cold sores? No-one likes a cold sore they are painful and often appear on our face in places that are difficult to cover. If you suffer from cold sores it may be a good idea to avoid/reduce the number of almonds you eat. While a few almonds are okay, too many almonds are not, because almonds and some other nuts contain high amounts of the amino acid called, Arginine which can help reactivate the herpes virus. If you are going to be eating almonds... daily, L-Lysine is a great supplement to start taking. As a preventive measure, we suggest if you suffer from cold sore that you choose foods that are high in lysine, while avoiding those that contain high amounts of arginine. Foods high in lysine are usually animal protein, such as beef, cheese, chicken, pork, fish; while foods higher in arginine are nuts, grains, legumes and beans. See more

16.01.2022 HOME MADE CHOCOLATE RECIPE Why not make your own chocolate this Easter? It’s healthier and can be a fun activity if you have kids or even for yourself! 13.01.2022 Tis the season for celebrating and with Christmas parties, New Year’s gatherings and friendly get-togethers it can be hard to resist an alcoholic drink. 12.01.2022 Should I Be Strength Training? The simple answer is YES! Male, female, young, old and everyone in between should be looking to add at least 2 strength training sessions to their weekly exercise program. Now this doesn’t mean you need to be lifting massive amounts of weights for hours on end. Far from it. Especially if you are new to working out or have had a long break. https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au//should-i-be-stre/

11.01.2022 Happy Australia Day! Fun Fact about Australia - The wine cask is an Australian invention. Bloody brilliant

10.01.2022 The day before grocery shopping throw together lunch. Leftover turkey chilli con carne made into scrambled eggs. Double protein hit with the eggs and the turkey mince, veggies, good fats from the avocado and healthy carbohydrates from the mexi beans. Easy, well rounded lunch that used up the leftovers so no food waste. What's your go to empty fridge meal?

09.01.2022 Vietnamese chicken meatball soup for dinner tonight. Rice noodles added to Skyes and Slendier noodles for me. Alternatively zucchini noodles would also work well for a low carb option. So nourishing this time of year. What are you having?

09.01.2022 Trying to get pregnant can be tough. It gets emotional, stressful and seems unfair. Although certain foods cannot make you pregnant, certain vitamins and minerals can increase fertility. On the flip side, avoiding certain foods can also help increase your chances of conceiving. Here are a few things to consider when it comes to diet: https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au//foods-for-fertil/

08.01.2022 Trying to avoid going to the grocery shop again just yet and use up what we have in the house. Lunch tomorrow = bbq chicken, frozen veg and some leftover red pepper pesto dip for some flavour. Obviously I will cook before eating! Easy, healthy and resourceful. Fingers crossed it's also tasty! What meals are you creating to avoid the shops?

08.01.2022 My holiday workout set up. Not too shabby! Focus on the view and you dont even feel the pain

08.01.2022 Diet soft drinks are they a good choice? Diet soft drinks seem like a good idea. They are marketed as having no sugar and therefore make people believe they are better for them and will help with weight loss. In fact, they contain many artificial sweeteners which seem to confuse the body’s natural ability to manage calories based on tasting something sweet. People also tend to overeat when drinking diet soft drink. https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au///diet-softdrinks/

08.01.2022 It's that time of year when parents are getting excited about their kids return to school (not that we don't love them right?) It’s hard to stay motivated and create healthy meals your kids will eat when your are busy. They don’t eat half of it anyway, they have allergies to consider and you just can’t think of anything to put in there! Here are my favourite lunch box suggestions. https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au//school-lunch-box/

07.01.2022 You can't beat an Anzac biscuit - I like crispy but hubby likes chewy - what a dilemma. Did you know if you just remove some earlier they will become the chewy ones and the ones you cook a little longer will crisp up? Everyone's happy now! I adore this healthy version that is still super easy to make and very tasty. https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au//amazing-anzac-bi/

07.01.2022 Do you crave sugar after meals? You have just had lunch and you feel that pull in the direction of the vending machine, looking for something sugary to satisfy you. There are a few reasons that may contribute to this but these are the most common: https://thelimithealthandfitness.com.au//do-you-crave-sug/

06.01.2022 So excited to use the learning tower! Now Finn can "help" me cook. Not much cheese made the pan. It's so important to get the kids involved in cooking and talking about food and nutrition so they grow up with positive experiences with food and eating.

03.01.2022 An easy yet healthy breakfast for kids and adults. Wholegrain toast, one half peanut butter and banana and the other half avocado and boiled egg.
